Maintain healthy relation with employees Manager is the one of the main reason for
proper and effective working of organisation . In Corus at the time of labour turnover the
manager needs motivate his employees and the attitude, approach of the manager
effects their employees manager needs to be available for their employees anytime and
solve work issues and daily assistance provided to employees obtain feedback from
employees on the work environment of organisation. For example the workload over a
employee increases and it leads to labour turnover at Corus then the leader must need
to know the problem of the employees and motivate them increase their work pay if
require to maintain quality working of Corus .
Technological changes:
ï‚· In this era where technology is upgrading day by day. The Corus needs to
prepare there current and future leaders the leader must be flexible , adaptable
to changes and able to work in dynamic environment. Due to new technology
upgradation or new machines or application in Corus the leader needs to be
effective to adapt those changes and able to influence or teach employees to
adapt those changes for example one of the that steel manufacturing company
Corus has updated new technology, they have implemented new software’s that
has made work easier for the steel manufacturing. Technology changes effects
the business of an organisation. Make employees familiar with digitalisation of a
company. for example, collaborate across Technology disciplines to insure
broadcast systems are protected from cybersecurity incidents
ï‚· Manage operating and capital budgets, forecasting, and tracking of department
finances in conjunction with the VP, IT & Technology Delivery and Finance

and plans to maintain sales influence his employees to work effectively and inspire them
to achieve organizational goals.
Sales decline will effect the business of the Corus corporation. The manager needs to
manage the working of the organisation has to analyse the past working of organisation
and according to that set future sales plan the manager needs to motivate his
employees to work effectively to achieve goals .
P3 LEADERSHIP APPROACHES
The management just not includes the executive or the decision making authorities but
also the employees of the organisation.
The situational leaders face a lot of issues regarding the customers or the employees
which are being fired or are leaving the organisation. The leader must always be
prepared for the worst of situations which would/ could come up in the organisation. If
there is a loss in the organisation, then the leader must know how to deal with the
customers and the employees working under them. If the leader fails to motivate the
employees under them, then there could be more losses for the organisation.
The leader must train the employees to the standard of the organisation and if they can
not get the level of the organisation of the management better then at least maintain
them. The leaders also have a say in the decision making of the organisation in which
they could share their experiences with the customers to get the selling of products
higher.
To achieve an organisational strategy, social process and systems design a systematic
leadership is required. To grow an organisation on a large scale the system must have
leaders who are systematic and have a plan for the organisation to grow. When the
leader is aware of the problems which are being faced by the organisation then the
leader must take steps appropriately to achieve on the points that the company lacks
on.
The contingency approach is the process which is followed by the Corus leaders at
every level and steps at manufacturing and staffing process in the organisation. For the
growth of the organisation the supervisors operate this approach to have a systematic
form of working process.

P4 Approaches to leader and managerial
Total Quality Management (TQM)-
Corus make use of total quality management to maintain the quality of steel which they
are manufacturing. The origin of Corus was in 1920s and ever since it just expanded
and grew as a retailer and now it comes under the worlds largest companies. The
revenue of the company is the second largest in the world. It is a effective management
of producing products which are in demand by the customers. There has to be a quality
in the products which are being produced.
Management qualities which are training, funding, goal setting and staffing have to be
controlled by the executives. The employees also have a voice in the decision making
of the organisation. This leadership is known as democratic style. The certain goals
which are supposed to be achieved by the organisation is instructed, directed and
guided to a group of individuals. There are many more responsibilities of a manager
which are looking after the queries, well organised store, complain solving, dealing with
customers, etc.
Six Sigma-
To improve an organisations process, there are specific tools for it. It is 99.99966% that
the produce will be defect free. The 5 tools of a six sigma are control, improve, define,
measure, analyse. During a decision all employees have a voice and can let the
executive or manager know them. A decision is then taken and data is collected upon
that decision. Data is then analysed and improved upon the decided produced which
are going to be launched or are already launched and control over the defect in the
product is at a great importance. The manager and the leader must make sure that the
work is being done with keeping the position in mind of the organisation.
Manager and leader must listen to all and have a plan to minimise the error in the
production and maintain a discipline during the process. Leader carry whole team
towards one aim to produce quality products with specified and to the objective of the
company.
Document Page
Lean Manufacturing-
This manufacturing refers to the process in which best ways or most effective methods
are planned to reduce or minimise the waste which is being produced by the
organisation. Corus will make use of lean manufacturing to reduce waste during the
time of manufacturing steel. The manager or leader has to pick out the most effective
plan to reduce the waste being produces and has to make sure the organisation has the
same opinion on the decision so that the organisation can run smoothly. Leaders and
managers are always ready to solve the problems which occur in the organisation
during the manufacturing.
P 5 Role of leader and manager help in lean manufacturing process
The importance and value of total quality management, six sigma and lean
manufacturing are that the organisation which is well set up in UK knows its
products which they produce well and this will help the organisation to grow even
more.
Corus's aim is to target more and more of customers by giving them quality
products. Total quality management (TQM) helps an organisation to collect data
upon its quality of the product and helps it increase in that area to attract more
customers. Corus tries to improve its quality on products they produce and tries
selling them for prices which are low to attract customers. The leader and manager
has to keep checking on the employees to get a result out of them to the standards
of The organisation.
Importance of six sigma is that since the company has faced loss and they do not
want to create more errors to reduce its customers so they make sure of the
product they serve to the customers. More the errors lesser the customers. The
leader and manager makes sure that six sigma is followed properly because if that
is followed then the changes of making an error is reduced and 99.99966% it will
be defect free. Six sigma increases the number of customers if they are having
good quality of products with cheaper rates. The customers feel like coming again
Document Page
and again even after the errors the organisation had made because of the quality
they server.
Lean manufacturing is a very important factor for an industry because the
organisation must know the amount of destruction they are causing in the
environment. Corus is completing taking care of this factor for there industry so
that they do not leaving a negative impact on the customers in any form. Any
problems related to this factor is solved immediately without any delay. Taking
measured steps for reducing the defect and improvement in the products have to
be made.
Operations management in achieving business objectives is a must in the industry
for the organisation to grow as much as possible and have as many customers as
possible. Corus is well established therefore it needs to have proper management
teams and they work on getting good feedbacks from the customers.
P6. Factors that influence the organizational decision making
The key of every successful organization is the better management and the good
environment. Every competition brings the new changes and challenges in the market.
The environment is the key factor that makes the organization good, better and best. A
good leader makes any organization more trustworthy but an unorganized leader can
ruin the productivity and the sustainability of the company. One wrong decision can
degrade the quality and also put the ques mark on the company's future. There are so
many examples are revolving around that shows some good and bad leadership
skills(Grant, Trautrims and Wong., 2017).
Organizations evaluate their internal and external environment to explore new
opportunities and brings the new ideas but this can be done by better strategies and
planning and also identify its strengths and weakness that is making the obstacles in
bringing the new opportunities (Schwarz, Hall and Shibli., 2015).

followed by rules and regulations. Like for example if tax rate increases on the import

making of managers and leaders of Corus as they can engage in making norms, rules
and regulations that do not affect the working of employees working in the organization.
