Abstract
The project aim is to effectively access leadership and management of sustainable
business operations. Therefore, management and leadership are two important aspect which are
needs to be considered by the businesses to attain growth. Leadership is about leading other to
attempt business operations and management is about making plans and controlling the
activities. In this analysis is based over Excelsia College which is a fastest growing Australian
Colleges and concern over providing appropriate study material to their students as a part of
developing strategy to satisfy the student’s needs and wants. For better execution of the project,
qualitative research has been applied as it is supportive in providing descriptive analysis over a
specific investigation issue. In addition to this, primary investigation is being conducted via
developing semi structure interview as it is supportive in generating valuable and accurate data
via conducting personal interview round. Data analysis is an important part of the project and in
this analysis is being done via applying thematic analysis approach as it is best suited for
qualitative research. The investigation also aid in the direction to generating valuable outcome in
relation to determining the significance of management and leadership in context to providing
satisfaction to the students within Excelsia College.

Introduction
The existing project initiates to determine the aspect of leadership and management of
sustainable business operations, therefore, it is an effective academic research which helps in
exploring in-depth knowledge of individual involving researcher, learner and the other involved
people in context to the suitable implementation of leadership and management for sustaining the
operations of business (Armstrong., 2016). The major reason for considering this research is to
resolve the issues which are arises within leadership and management and influences the entire
business performance. For better understanding of the topic the analysis has been executed over
the study of Excelsia College which is major and leading Australian college and operated for the
intention to providing satisfaction to the students in the manner to enhancing educational
requirements. Therefore, Excelsia College is a tertiary education provider in Sydney, Australia
and mainly offering postgraduate and undergraduate educational programs under counselling,
perform arts, teachers education and business. The campus of the college is situated within
Macquarie Park, New South Wales. Leadership and management are two imperative aspect of
human resource which are requires to be managed by the businesses and other organisations
involves like education sector for the intention of accessing effective business operations as the
suitable assistance by manager and leaders are efficacious in reaching the targeted organisation
objectives (Bush and Glove., 2016). The study is raging for the students and the entire education
sector of Austral, thus, it is effective in providing a suitable and detailed framework to determine
the ways which can be opted by managers and leaders to enhance the operations of the business
and also analyse the significance of leadership and management in continuous improvement of
business operations. The another reason behind executing the analysis is the personal interest of
the researcher as the investigator wants to explore own knowledge and skills in relation to a
specific area which would be effective in terms of gaining effective academic records (Bush,
Bell, and Middlewood. Eds., 2019). The study also has imperative value for the education
industry of Australia to gain suitable idea about leadership and management. For suitable
assistance of the project specific aims and questions are developed which are associated as

To explore ways through which leadership and management can be enhanced within an
organisation. To identify the importance of leadership and management in continuous improvement of
business operations within Excelsia College.

Qualitative Design
The selection of study is mainly based on the research design and it defined as the entire
strategy which an investigator select to integrate the assorted aspects of the analysis in a coherent
and logical manner (Diamond. and Spillane, 2016). Therefore, research design is imperative in
ensuring the individual to effectively overcome the challenge of research. It basically constitutes
as the blue print for accumulating, measurement and evaluation of information. Research design
is mainly of three types, descriptive, exploratory and experimental research design. In the context
to this existing analysis exploratory research design has been applied to support the qualitative
analysis (Hallinger., 2018). Therefore, a research is mainly of two types i.e. qualitative and
quantitative research, for considering the present analysis qualitative research has been applied.
However, qualitative research is defined as a market investigation tool which is mainly focuses
over obtaining information via open-ended and conversational communication. The major reason
behind selecting qualitative research is that it is effective in providing suitable analysis in
conversational manner and provide suitable outcome which support the aim and objectives of the
research (Podsakoff and Podsakoff., 2019). In this specific study the analysis is relay over
specific aims and questions which are described as below:

Despite from this, in an investigation work data is mainly accumulated through primary
and secondary sources. Therefore, in this present analysis primary investigation is being
developed for gathering suitable information to generate accurate outcome (Renz,2016). Primary
research is mainly conducted for gathering information which are not being accumulated before
and are not gathered earlier. Primary information accumulation is encompasses over case study,
interview, questionnaire, focus group and so on. In the context of the this analysis, interview has
been developed to gather information which are significant based over the aspect of leadership
and management to sustain business operations (Bhanot., 2018). It is the best source for
gathering qualitative information. Therefore, in this semi-structured interview has been
developed to gather information from the participants in relation to the specified area. Thus,
A semi-structured interview is defined as meeting in which it is not important for the interviewer
to strictly precede with a formalized list of questions. Instead of, they can ask more open-ended
questions which allowing for an appropriate discussion round with the interviewee rather than a
straightforward question and answer format (Bush, Bell and Middlewood eds., 2019) .
In the present analysis same has been select on the basis of convenience sampling from
the non-probabilistic tools, thus in this individuals are randomly picked from the selected
population (Ciulla, 2020). In this sample size of 5 is enough in which managers and leaders are
picked to gather appropriate information about the Excelsia College. The major reason behind
selecting leaders and managers are the consistency in the information as they are the key aspect
of business and can provide appropriate information regarding the aspect of leadership and
management which are effective in increasing the satisfaction of students (Gould, Gallagher and

Allen, 2016). For conducting the analysis participants are select randomly and contacted via
email as the researcher provide consent for receiving the approval from the interviews to take
effective participation in the data collection process (Mampane, 2017). The interview is being
conducted through face to face process and is being recorded within word document.

has been applied to analyse the information effectively and generate valuable results (Sfantou
and et. al ., 2017).

Theme 1) The conceptual framework of leadership and management in the context to
education industry.
Interpretation: The analysis of the interview has stated that, participants are having significant
idea and recognition in relation to the conceptual framework of leadership and management. The
involving participants are said that, leadership and management are the key aspect of human
resource, therefore, they states that leadership is a action of leading a group of people or
businesses in the direction to attaining specific objectives. On the contrary management is a
process to administrating business or its objectives to attain business goals.
Theme 2) It is very much important for education industry to access leadership and
management in regards to attaining growth via increasing the satisfaction of students.
Interpretation: The another questions is being asked by the researcher to the interviews
regarding how important it is for education industry to access leadership and management to
increasing satisfaction of students, therefore, the majority of participants are in concern with the
same as per their view it is important for the education business to implement effective
management and leadership actions.
Theme 3) It is significant for a education sector to obtain leadership and management as the
key component to increasing the satisfaction of the students and education level.
Interpretation: The involved managers and leaders has stated that, yes it is significant for a
education sector to obtain leadership and management as the key aspect to sustain effective

business operations, as they explains that, leadership and management helps an organisation in
guiding the employees in the manner to attaining business goals.
Theme 4) For so long individual are being the part of management within by Excelsia College.
Interpretation: The interviewer asked the question regarding the sustainability of them within
the College, as the majority of participants said that they are being the part of Excelsia College
for so long as they have been enhance their leadership and management capabilities from the
operations of the college. Around 3 people are being working since 10 years and others are
working since 8 years.
Theme 5) The programs that had the most influence over the learning of leadership and
management development.
Interpretation: The managers and the leaders of the business has stated that the business has
providing suitable learning aspects like establishing communication, guidance of developing
effective places, suitable job roles, on the job training and so on. these are effective for the
leaders and managers to develop their abilities, Therefore, these are the key component which
are imperative for the management and the leaders of the business to grow.
Theme 6) The potential role of leadership and management in the context to education sector.
Interpretation: On this particular question the interview replied that, there are assorted role of
leadership and management like guiding others for effective working, setting up business
objectives, assessing plan, increasing production, resolve workplace conflict, overcome
volatility, motivating employees and so on. Therefore, these are the potential roles which are
performed by leaders and managers at workplace.
Theme 7) Explanation regarding what happened or what was done in the program that helped
you to learn and develop the skills of leadership and management.
Interpretation: In this present analysis the question is being asked on the basis of the programs
that held for developing the management and leadership capabilities. Hence, majority of
participants said that in the company has provide effective training to the old as well as new
employees and this will help a manager or leader to attempt their role in more effective manner.

Interpretation: The leaders and managers are replied that, effective on the job training is
supportive for them to improvise their abilities as they are gaining effective knowledge via
attempting the college operations and guiding others at workplace.

leader within Excelsia College.
Interpretation: The managers of the business has said that effective communication skills and
quick decision making is the most supportive skills which helps them to enhance their worth
within Excelsia College.

operations.
Interpretation: As per the views analysis of managers and leaders it has been analysed that,
democratic leadership is the most effective leadership skill which helps them to increase their
own worth and taking suitable decisions via involving other college staff and people from top to
bottom level. As a large Australian college Excelsia College has concern over involving
employees in the effective decision of business so democratic is the best leadership style to
maximise business operations.
Theme 11) Leadership and management has positive impact over sustaining operations of
Excelsia College.
Interpretation: In this present interview analysis it has been identified that, all managers and
leaders are said that leadership and management has positive impact over sustaining operations
of Excelsia College. Therefore, the suitable leadership and management help a education
industry to guiding them in the right direction to gain growth.
Theme 12) The major challenges which are arises in the suitable implementation of leadership
and management within Excelsia College.
Interpretation: The participants are said that, it is required for a business to implement
leadership and management but also raise multiple challenges like lack of confidence,
insecurity, impatience, intolerance. Lack of communication and so on. Thus these are influencing
the operations of education business adversely.
Theme 13) Own capabilities which help you to become a good leader or manager within
Excelsia College.
Interpretation: The managers involving in the analysis said that their communication ability and
idea of business planning helps them to become a good leader and support the operation. On the
other hand, leaders are said that their motivation ability and good listening or quick decision
making helps them to be a good leader.

Theme 14) Being a leader or manager what an individual can do for further development of
Excelsia College.
Interpretation: The participants have stated that being a leader and manager they can motivate
employees and encourage them to put their significant efforts in the growth operations. In
addition to this they can also talk with employees for resolving their issues at workplace.
