i)This assignment has helped me gain knowledge about the different theories and concept of
Leadership, business management and how exactly organisations work. It has aided me in
recognising what actually takes to be a Leader and how new creative ideas are the very first
step towards creating a successful action. My idol and inspiration has been Patricia Dwyer as
her story is indeed an exclusive example of how a good cause with a right vision is always a
winner against all odds. The course deals with varied topics like human resource
management, interpersonal organisation’s communication techniques, Leadership skills and
motivation, decision-making process in an organisation, techniques of managing youth and
staffs in an organisation (Huarng & Ribeiro-Soriano, 2014) and taking into concern every
micro and macro environmental factor of the business to ensure its smooth operation. Hence
it is of no doubt that the course is extremely well planned and equipped to impart every
necessary information regarding the internal and external management elements of a
business. Moreover choosing a particular leader and researching about her organization,
understanding her entrepreneurism and how big ideas work with the right vision. Another
significant learning from this course is the necessity of being a good corporate citizen which
is not really an option but a mandate. Learning these basic human resource management
principles and theories and understanding how ideal leaders employ it in the practical field
has immensely helped me in gaining deeper insight about how the corporate world exactly
functions. It has made me more focused and given clarity regarding how big dreams are
achieved. I have gained basic information regarding how to manage a team, work and
coordinate within a team, how to propose new ideas, how to equally respect new ideas from
my colleagues, how innovation and creative thinking is the key to future success and most
necessarily how to promote sustainable ways of doing one’s business and finally how the
power of technology and innovation needs to be implied in the right direction to help the
society prosper (Rothaermel, 2016).

ii) Though the course is designed in a very strategic manner yet to understand the practical
implementation of all the theories and how Leaders who have achieved big work in the real
industrial world was indeed challenging to understand as well as interpret. Another major
challenge was understand the concept of change management and how business firm can
bring in this necessary change with the help of the leader (Hayes, 2018). As the example of
change management requires practical exposure to understand the internal operations of the
firm hence an industry exposure is very much require for this course to help assess how all
theories are practically incorporated in a firm’s operations. Another major challenge in the
whole learning process was completing so many management topics under the stated
deadline. As the topics where quite huge and detailed grasping all the information at a go,
understanding and retaining it did require a lot of effort and hard work. The next challenge
pertained to gathering information about my chosen leader as the business is quite new and
blooming one not much of it has been deeply covered by the media. Hence I did have to
follow the social media accounts of Patricia Dwyer along with mindful scrutinizing of the
official website of the company she runs to understand their complete work process, the team
strength and their areas of expertise and service.
iii) Major ways of overcoming the above mentioned challenges would require the application
of multi-dimensional approach which would cater to sufficient industry visits pertaining to
varied sectors to understand how the management theories and principles alter according to
the business environment and market conditions. Moreover arranging varied seminars and
workshops will would b guided by industry experts will also help in building a more
interactive platform for learning this industry based courses which are typically meant for
practical experience rather than just theoretical information gathering. It is also helpful to
take aid of various YouTube videos or Ted Talk shows where various industry experts and
business leaders share their story of inspiration, struggle and success to get a better insight

regarding how these leaders operate in the real world of business. The exposures to these
media material will altogether help in making learning fun and much more receptive to the
students (Jonassen & Land, 2014) Moreover it is also recommended to analyse more into the
area and scope of business innovation and developing sustainable ways of doing business
because as today’s youth we are indeed the future of the industry and I personally feel it is
very much essential for us to understand the vitality of maintaining sustainable business
practices and stressing more on the corporate social responsibility aspect of every business.
Hence there is a greater scope for the course to focus more on these issues of human resource
management to actually help build the future generation of industry experts who are not just
profit earners but a responsible corporate citizen of the globe (Waldman & Balven, 2014)
