Interviews are significantly essential in reaching out to great leaders since it paves the
way for close interaction with such people. When interviewing a well-performing leader or
individual, one can easily get the key insight into the traits that such a person utilizes to get tp
where they are in their current position. It is purposeful to use interview since such people do not
have adequate time for everything they do, their time is limited, hence scheduling an appointed
for an interview is an efficient way to get relevant information from them. It is believed that
there is a distinguishing feature that places whether a person will make to be a good leader or
not. Research has suggested that personal traits are elements that differentiate extraordinary
leaders from the rest, hence the need for discussing such issues with a leader to have a deeper
understanding of the same (Parr et al., 2016). For this exact interview, the main aim is to discuss
the traits that paramount in leaders in the healthcare system. Also, getting an individual personal
trait is a good way to go about since such personal characteristics are critical in influencing a
leader to be as great as they would wish. On the other hand, healthcare us about providing
quality service, which requires sacrifice and efforts to maintain. Therefore, interviewing
healthcare leaders should provide key information regarding the best approach in healthcare as
well as the key character traits essential for excellent healthcare leaders in their service.
Methodology
Interviewing is a significantly important method of data collection technique. Interviews
involve verbal communication between the interviewer and the subject being interviewed. They
provide primary data, which since the information is gathered from the source themselves. It is
important to use the interview in exploratory studies where one wants to explore a topic of

interest, for instance, trait analysis from effective leaders (Bolderston, 2012). The interviewer
must narrow down their focus that would help in designing the question that he or she will ask
the responder to answer. The question is structured in a way that it would be easy for the
interviewer to interpret what they are being asked about. A highly structured interview can be
useful in gaining most from the data since data collected will what is needed in the study being
undertaken (McGrath et al., 2018). Therefore, the quality of data depends on the interview design
and the skill of the interviewer. In this case, a structured interview will be used; this is where
questions will be asked to the interviewee to answer systematically.
In designing and developing this interview, concepts of adaptability and personal
sensitivity were highly utilized to keep the interview stay within the topic and bounded by the
focus of study. Consideration of proper preparation has been made to ensure that the study, as
well as the process, follows the standard guidelines of undertaking an interview. The question
developed are easy and straight to the point. The designing of the question needed time to
formulate the phrasing method without going against the ethical issue of the research (Doll,
2017). Additionally, as studies suggest preparing both the interviewer and interviewee in
fundamental in ensuring that everything goes to plan. In this regard, it took time for me to
prepare myself and my subject to give the path for increased confidence in the process.
Therefore, adequate practice is has been utilized to ensure familiarization with the interview
questions and enable the presentation of the most effective behavior (Jamshed, 2014). Moreover,
the developed question is limited to fit within a short period to reduce boring an interviewee. In
the end, the actual time when taking interviewee with my interviewee, it is ensured that a formal
approach is used and ultimate respect given, hence propelling the quality of the study effectively.

Comparing the finding from the interview to the concept learned is critical in framing
what makes a good leader. In this case, I found that there was an association of the belief that a
good leader is one who has the capacity of serving the people adequately, does not discriminate
but portraying a practical understanding of others. As per the literature outlined in class, good
leadership has been defined as the capacity of the leader to influencing people to achieve certain
objectives and goals as well as engaging people (Ali, 2020). A leader who is capable of engaging
people to collaborate to achieve a common goal can be regarded as an effective leader in their
profession. On the other hand, when I asked my interviewee about their ideas, definition, and
perception about leadership, I found a similarity to what is entailed in the literature. The
interviewee pointed out that a leader is someone who takes a group of people and shows them
the path to follow to reach a particular destination. Hence, it is arguably correct to agree that
good leaders are those who take up their team or subordinates and work hand in hand within
them toward the desired destination in their areas of interest. Leaders are the servant who takes
care of their groups of people who select them to mentor and design paths for all in that specific
group (Khoshhal & Guraya, 2016). Additionally, there are similarities between the interview
findings to the literature, since both come into a consensus that leaders must have effective skills
that bring people together and convince them to work together to achieve something at the end.
Besides, effective leaders have traits that propel them to able to socialize with other
people as they undertake their activities. For instance, the interviewee supposes that a sense of
humor is critical in making people feel at ease hence ensuring they participate in what is
happening at a time. On the other hand, the literature agrees that leaders must be sociable in a
way that demonstrates sound interpersonal reasoning and skills. The concept of open-mindedness
accompanied by flexibility is critical in a leader that wants changes (Lord, 2015). Changes

intelligence, self-confidence, and determination are exquisite in leading a mass of people who
look at a leader to define new paths to solve new challenges as the interviewee suggests that
serious leadership is fundamental in achieving task-specific goals. This fact is correct because
determination and self-confidence are traits that make leaders have the capacity to implement
new approaches and reinforce rules at the workplace. Health care is a sector that has a lot of
challenges to deal with, this call for vigilant leaders to help solve such health care problem fast
enough without allowing them to affects others (Ghiasipour et al., 2017). Once a leader sets in as
an example and enhances the need to follow workplace rules, then productivity is achieved.
Hence, positive leadership traits like being sociable, serious, flexible, determination, open-
minded, intelligent, and self-confident are associated with better effective leaders, particularly in
healthcare.
Skills are critical in defining who would be a good leader in most professions, including
healthcare. Skill-set dictates how operations are processed in individual events and
circumstances (Hargett et al., 2017). For instance, in a sophisticated healthcare facility, skill is
used intelligently to help simplify what is seen as complex. A leader must have a high notch of
expertise in their setting to mentor others on how to efficiently and effectively deal with various
activities. In the interview, the interviewee revealed that a deeper breadth of knowledge in
healthcare is paramount in a leader in healthcare. For instance, the subject points out that for a

dentist to lead a team of dentists, there must be a great depth of knowledge that a leader would
use to teach his subordinates (Daly et al., 2014). Thus healthcare leaders need clinical skills to
drive proper patient services in hospitals. On the other hand, the responses and reactions to be
applied to specific events depend on how a combination of knowledge and expertise proposes.
Similarly, the healthcare environment is critical in combining skill, useful traits, and appropriate
personality toward achieving significant health outcomes. There is a direct interrelationship
between how balancing an organization with the needed direction to the level of success
achieved in healthcare. A leader who demonstrates the capacity to position their organization at a
higher level of success is those who embrace the fact of proper leadership style through three
essential skills (Mitchell et al., 2012). To achieve effective leadership, conceptual skills,
technical skills, and human skills are paramount. Possession of such ability enables the leader to
integrate and relate each to the other to help bring out timely solutions in the events of complex
situations. Therefore, a direct correlation between effective leaders and their ability to utilize
skills, traits, and productive personality exists and is made feasible during complex cases.
Leadership style in healthcare is critical in strengthening the interaction of care and
reinforcing the quality of care. The is a relationship between the kind of leadership used and the
levels in the quality of care (Sfantou et al., 2017). Leadership is considered as a core element that
predisposes well-coordinated care from a healthcare professional and the patients. However, a
weak leadership style is related to poor quality of care delivery. Hence, it essential that
healthcare leaders cultivate the culture of growing toward the proper manner in their leadership,
which would be for the benefit of everyone involved in the aspects of health. Adaptation can
allow leaders who want more success retrain and promote themselves to higher chances of
working out to better their organization (Scott, 2010). It is also useful for those who are not

performing well since they can learn from others and apply favorable styles in their leadership.
From the interview finding, it is clear that a leader must make active choices regarding their
leadership style since it profoundly affects the success rates of a leader. Additionally, the
combination of leadership style, personality, and adaptation is essential in forecasting the future
(Belrhiti et al., 2018). With the rapidly changing world due to technology, it should be wise for
leaders to make an informed decision and apply the change in their approach. Therefore, the
concept of adaptation helps effective leaders become more efficient by engaging in better
leadership styles, even in the future of their undertakings.
Conclusion
Leaders are the people who lead groups of people in the different organizations toward specific
chosen directions. If the criteria that leaders use to guide others is effective, then there will be
productive results at the end of their journey. Healthcare is a complex area of specialization since
it involves many fragile undertaking as well as solving new challenges. For people trying to learn
about traits, personality, and characteristics of effective leadership, various research methods can
be utilized. However, an interview is efficient in doing such studies since they allow the
collection of first-hand information, mostly considered as the primary data. Interviews are simple
to undertake and consume less time compared to other methods. Additionally, analysis of the
result from such an interview study depicts that personality, traits, skill-set, characteristics, and
adaption are the aspects that can be used to understand what differentiates an effective leader
from others. Characters, like being sociable as well as having a sense of humor, make leaders
loveable, hence promoting their ability to convince others to follow ceratin paths toward success.
