MANAGEMENT 1
1) Managing Oneself by Peter Drucker
Author's Key Points
Druker in Managing Oneself article describe that to become leader person has to work and show
their performance by the strength that is not focusing on their weaknesses (Drucker). The other
point is that leaders get developed through feedback analysis in which various group that is team
members, superiors can provide the area in which the leaders can improve their performance.
Furthermore, author also revealed that to maintain the ethical behavior the person should focus
on finding the behavior and divide the behavior which they like or dislike (Drucker).
Insights
My insight about the point that is perform with strength and does not focus on weakness is
different because in my experience I find that the feedback and solving the weakness and support
us to perform more efficiently. This can also supports in the development in the long run,
therefore, through this leaders can perform various other challenging and difficult tasks.
Therefore, to maintain consistency in the performance the feedback analysis is done in
continuous manner so that effectiveness will be managed in the tasks. In the present time,
overcoming the weaknesses and learning new skills become difficult but it can support in
achieving the results by slighting the methods of conducting the tasks. Through this the team
members can also contribute more and show efficiency because of getting more guidance
regarding the subject matter.
Areas I Agree or Disagree
I does not agree with the point that individual should focuses on strength, it is because I revealed
that it is become one of the behavior which leaders has to be adopt for performing different types
of work. This is because while still focusing on the strengths we will ignore the weakness and

activities which we cannot perform and does not focus on those tasks. Therefore, the feedback
analysis which is described in the article is considered one of the best method through which
leaders understand the problems and gap through which the performance of the leaders cannot
increase. I disagreeing with the assumption because it is assumed in the article of Managing
Oneself that one can be managed their performance through know their strengths and author
revealed that one cannot increase their performance by weaknesses.
This assumption cannot fit with my personality because I would like to develop through working
on my weakness because through this I can become flexible and can perform difficult task which
are out of my expertise. This can also help to increase my intellectual skills and can increase the
capability to become more confident for the work which I performed. Leadership is the approach
which is developed through learning and focusing on the areas where there lie the gap.
Therefore, one can grow and manage by aligning strength and weakness so that opportunities can
be grasped and threats will be overcome because individual has to perform their functions in
dynamic environment.
2) What Every Leader Needs to Know About Followers by Barbara Kellerman
Author's Key Points
Kellerman revealed that it is important for the leaders to understand the behavior of their
followers, in this leader has to rank their follower based on their behavior, levels and the powers
as well as authority they have in the organization (Kellerman). The other key point which author
revealed is the article is the types of followers in which various other authors classify followers
into various variables such as dominance, submission, exemplary followers and several others.

The author also examine the traits which the goods leaders have that is effective communication,
better decision making skills etc (Kellerman).
Insights
My insight about the learning of leaders is also similar according to my experience because
article revealed that t increase the learning leaders have to learn from the strategies which others
adopt to increase their learning. Therefore, I watch my manager for the traits and structure they
adopt to perform a particular task. This leads in increasing my experience towards the particular
tasks. As in the new project I continuously fail to understand because of new activities and
structure which I was not aware, through this my motivational level also decreases. Therefore, to
accomplish the better results I consult my manager and focuses on understanding their method
hat how they perform the particular tasks, in that time period I also contact with my peer groups
about the particular tasks and the procedure they followed to perform the particular tasks. This
strategy helped me a lot and develops me to perform various other innovative strategies to
perform particular tasks with efficiency.
Areas I Agree or Disagree
I agree with the author that leaders has to guide and provide suggestions to their team members
and can adopt communication and decision making skills to develop in the long run.
Furthermore, the leaders have to be unique and conduct their operations with honesty and by
following the traits which are inborn that is following self personality so that one can become the
effective leaders. It is also investigated that leaders can also manage their knowledge, skills
through learning themselves and learning through others activities.

3) Managing Authenticity by R. Goffee
Author's Key Points
Goffee and Jones describes that leaders and followers conduct the authenticity with integrity,
honesty and sincerity, authors also define in the article that the uniquely defines and considered
the leaders as great leaders (Goffee and Jones). The other key point which researcher defines that
there are various perception which authentic leader follow which includes that they make words
with the consistency of deed. The leaders also continuously practice to reach the goals and to
increase their skills and capabilities. The third key point which Goffee and Jones examined that
leader can establish their authenticity by dividing the behavior of the leader into different origin
such as getting the origin by avoiding the comfort zone, getting to know others and connecting
with the organizational context through performing various activities (Goffee and Jones).
Insights
From the analysis my insights about article is that the author which talked about good and bad
behavior of leaders which is related with my own experience because I also analyzed that good
communication can support me to guide my team members about the particular task. I also
communicate the message and ensure that the message is well transferred and understood by my
team member. This results in reducing the misunderstanding and support in making better
decisions to perform the particular task. Furthermore, I also experienced that bad behavior will
not motivate and support me to develop in the long run, it is because these type of leaders cannot
contribute towards the organization and does not supports their followers to perform particular
tasks.

Areas I Agree or Disagree
I agree that leaders should become self-authentic to perform various activities, this leads in
maintaining the honesty and allow the leaders to work according to their abilities and
capabilities. I also believe that these leaders perform because of adopting the skills and abilities
which are inborn and through this leaders can encourage other team members to do the particular
tasks. Furthermore, authentic leaders do not have to learn new skills because of already having
skills of understanding the behavior of other employees and can motivate them to perform
effectively.
4) Summary
The overall themes of the article are that leaders can be developing due to focusing on the skills,
learning new things and by watching others who all are performing similar tasks. There is
different perception of the authors towards the leadership that is Goffee and Jones revealed that
great leaders will be self-authentic which focus the person to perform the activities by adopting
the personality which they actually have such as honesty, realism and charm (Goffee and Jones).
This supports the leaders to adopt difficult situations and can increase the capability of the
person to perform particular challenging task. However, in comparison to this Druker reveal that
the leaders to become the great leaders should has to manage themselves by describing the
answers of various questions which includes determining the strengths, values and the areas for
which person require more learning. It also focuses on determining the activities which one used
be focuses on to perform the activities (Drucker).
Furthermore, the other author have completely different opinion which includes that Kellerman,
great leaders are the individual which guide their followers to perform the particular task and

MANAGEMENT 6
motivate them to increase the level of commitment (Kellerman). The author also revealed that
followers will contribute efficiently when they all highly influenced through their team leaders
and the manner they guide them to perform efficiently. However, there are various unique
behaviors which the leaders have to perform to the growth and development of their team
members and their organization (Kellerman).
My view of the leadership started changing by analyzing the different views of the authors about
the management and development of leadership. I believe that Leadership is the ability of the
individual and organization to guide and lead their team members, organization so that overall
objective of the company is achieved. Leadership is considered important because it develop
clear vision and mission for the subordinates, it is because through which team members get
proper understanding the roles and responsibilities. Furthermore, leadership is the procedure in
which it influences the people to communicate effectively and transforming the potential tasks
into real so that efficiency will be maintained in the organization.
