Introduction
In the field of business research, the study of leadership is one of the most discussed
topic. Leadership is one of the key role for the growth of a sustainable organization.
Organization are influenced by the ability of the leader in their actions and steps for the benefit
of the business organization (Herman 2016). In this essay I would like to highlight my position
as a human resource leader of a business organization and my journey towards becoming a more
efficient leader in my area of profession. In this essay I would explain the key concepts related
to the management of the system of the human resource within my organization together with the
evaluation and the application of the considerations of the human resources while undergoing an
of the decision related to business that are in line with the strategic goal of the organization I am
serving. Highlighting the contemporary approaches of the leadership and the models, I would
evaluate my leadership trait and develop personal development targets for improving in the area
of the leadership in the human resource.
Discussion
The mission or the target of the human resource with a business organization is
towards the provision of the leadership and oversight all the relevant aspects of the human
resources staffs for the development of the business organization by enabling partnering with the
leaders and the individual within al the levels.
Some of my basic behavior and traits include supporting and influencing the strategic direction
of the business organization by providing the employee and the managers with some of the
innovative solutions for the issues of the human resources and the organization.
Importance of Human Resource as the source of competitive advantage

I believe that human resources are the most valuable assets for the competitive
advantages and for sustaining in the long term business. Many of the assets of the workforce are
reviewed theoretically reviewed in the consideration of the resource based view. According to
the online resources that I have accessed, the competitive advantages are frequently possible for
imitating. I believe that effective leadership is an essential component to lead and survive the
business in the competitive market.
Leadership Theories
As per the online resources and the theories that I have learned through out my course
of study, some of the key leadership theories includes the great man theory, trait theory ,
contingency theory, situational theory and behavioral theory. These theories are the foundations
of the leadership behaviors ad traits of the human resource of business organization.
I personally believe in following the situational theory of leadership which is
somewhat similar to the contingency theory. According to Tucker et al. (2017) the situational
leadership theory proposes that fact that no one of the leadership styles supersedes the others. As
per the suggestion of the name, I follow the situational leadership theory implying the fact that
leadership depends on the situation of the hand. I believe that leaders should always correspond
towards the leadership traits regarding respective situation by asserting of the certain variables
like the type of the task, the nature of the followers and more. In the proposition of the class
documents and the class notes, I researched that the situational theory blends two of the essential
key elements. This are the leadership style and the maturity level of the follower. The four of the
major different category of the leadership styles include the context of the maturity which the
situational leadership theory targets.

The members of the organization do not possess the motivation or the skills related to
tactics for the completion of the necessary jobs.
The members of the team are ambitious and willing for the achievement of something
and lack the necessary abilities.
The members of the team possess the capability and the skills for the accomplishments of
the task but are not willing to take the necessary accountability.
To summarize, my perspective on the situational theory includes the exercise of the
leaders regarding the particular form regarding the traits and the behavior of the leadership on
the basis of the maturity level and his or her terms.
Model
In the context of the operational Human Resource Management, the model of the
leadership as the leaders of the human resource that I follow is the Ulrich’s 4 Roles Model.

The figure above illustrates the human resource model by Ulrich that was
revolutionary while the first introduction since it loos at the role of the people on an initial basis.
The department of the human resource are essential for the business organization which is
projected in the HR Model. The model furthermore includes the role of the employees, manager,
the board members. The HR Model of David Ulrich does not develop the department of human
resource around the function of the leader initially but develop around the roles.
Leadership Style
I believe leadership is not any position or any title. It is simply an action and example.
To me, leadership is somewhat polymorphic in nature. There lies various categories and types of
leadership styles like the autocratic leadership style, the democratic leadership style, the
coaching leadership style, the strategic leadership style, the laissez –faire leadership,
transformational leadership style, charismatic leadership style.
Among all the leadership style, the leadership style that I follow is the democratic
leadership style. This is because unlike other styles of leadership, the democratic leadership style
involves more participation where being leader I involve the members of team while undergoing
and making critical decisions. According to my personal insight, the best part of the style of
leadership is that the process of the communication is active from upward to downward. This
style of leadership is also termed as the participative leadership. I believe that the presence of
factors like creativity, consideration, intelligence and competent attitude makes an human
resource individual to follow democratic leadership style.

Psychometric Test
I have used the leadership assessment test by John Maxwell for highlighting five
levels of the leadership. I believe that this assessment is suitable for the leaders since this
psychometric test of the traits measures 64 attributes analyzing the individuals over the attributes
helping the leader to have success at each of the level. I evaluated my leadership trait and the
factors attributing to my position through the following factors.
Permission - the attributes of the leadership that is included in the section of the
assessment focuses on the interpersonal skills and the relational abilities.
Development of people –The attributes of the leadership included in the section focus
over the individual results and as a team
Position - The attributes of leadership included in the psychometric test focus on the
commitment and the trustworthiness of leader
Production – The assessment includes the attributes focus on reproduction and the skills
development
This test has been designed for the measurement of the current level of influence
through the self assessments. This test has enabled me to target the specific areas were I need
to develop my leadership growth.

As per the above psychometric test, it is evident that though I have certain good traits
of leadership, there are some of the habits of mine that are affecting me and my team as a part of
the human resource department of the business organization I am serving. I furthermore realized
that being a democratic leader and following the model and the traits of the democratic
leadership I am inviting certain issues within my traits and behaviors within the business
organization. This is because, the style of the leadership might appear uncertain at times since
being an democratic leader, in the time of the crisis I tend to function in an authoritarian role. I
sometimes tend to fall in dangerous trap leading to procrastination. This is because sometimes
being the leader I tend to take decision regarding the whole team. This furthermore creates
negative emotions for the employees working under me. Furthermore from the assessment test, I
reused that my traits and the qualities of the leadership offers the element of continuing
uncertainty. This is because being the democratic leader I often fail to guarantee the best possible
solution. I furthermore realized that this leadership style which I love to follow is not the suitable
style for everyone. This is because this category of leadership works the best for the
organizations where the members of the team are experiences and qualified.
Thus I realized that I need to change and improve my leadership abilities for the
benefit of both me and my team members for the overall betterment and benefit of the business
organization.
Personal Goals
After going through the feedbacks and the reviews by the guest of the industry, I
personally feel that one of the most essential and effective style of the leadership is the
transformational leadership. This is because this style of leadership will allow me towards the

creative thinking of the working culture by the means of effective communication within my
team. Though this leadership demands the specific level of the strategic vision and the
intellectual stimulations regarding the change, I believe from the assessment tool I have those
qualities to be considered as the role model. One of the major thing that I need to improve is my
recognizing the challenges and the weakness of mine and learn from my weaknesses for the
development and the establishment of an effective leadership style and traits which will be
beneficial for me and my serving organization. Learning from weakness will help me to develop
my personal goals. Being a leader I need to belief in the target and the vision of the business
organization and inspire the staffs under me to be more proactive and productive towards the
targets and the goals of the organization. I should be more motivational followed up by the
planning to execute plans to the reality. Furthermore I should reach out to the employees for
retention and being the HR leader of the organization I should help for the strong bond among
the managers and the employees. Finally I need to execute some of the best outcomes from my
corporate learning and the knowledge’s that I have gained as a leader from my online resources
and in class activities.
Conclusion
Thus it can be concluded from the above that leadership is a factors that is recognized
with individual excellence. Leadership is one of the key role for the growth of a sustainable
organization. Organization are influenced by the ability of the leader in their actions and steps
for the benefit of the business organization. As a leader of the human resource department of the
organization it is important for me to establish my properties appropriately by the demonstration
of the understanding related to the urgency of the task and the impact over the departments. I
