Leadership is required in all the organizations to manage all the resources of the organization
effectively. This assignment aims at reflecting the leadership qualities which are necessary to be
successful leaders in a company. There will be a discussion of different approaches of leadership
which can be used in a business to take the business to greater heights. The roles and
responsibilities of a leader will e discussed in the assignment, and a personal reflection will also
be included in this assignment.
Trait Theory
The trait theory is all about the traits of a good and successful leader. The trait theory states that
there are certain characteristics of a good leader cannot be learned, and they are inborn in an
individual. There are various traits or qualities of an in an individual who helps an individual to
be a good leader at the workplace (Blog Taskque, 2017). One of the traits which I have is the
quality of time management. I believe that time is money and the one who wastes time losses a
lot in their lives. It is important to manage and use the time in an effective manner. A good
leader is the one who manages everything on time. Another characteristic that I have is that I am
a confident person. A leader has to handle a team, and for that, it is essential that the leader is
confident enough to manage the things. The team members also follow the leader so the leader
must be confident so that the employees also feel motivate dot to be confident like the leader.
The quality of confidence is also important when there is a need to represent the organization at
some platform. One more trait which I believe is essential to be a leader is the effective
communication skills (Cherry, 2018). A leader has to manage every resource in the organization,
and for that, a leader need to have effective communication skills. The communication skills help

the employee to interact with the team members, and there is a constant flow of information
between the employees and the leader.
Transformation, Situational, and servant leadership
Leadership theories are of many types. One is transformational leadership in which the leader
takes the responsibility of making changes in the social systems and the organization. The
leaders are the people who take initiatives to transform the organisation and the society for good
(Kovjanic, Schuh, Jonas, Quaquebeke & Van Dick, 2012, para. 3. pp. 1036). This is the
leadership with social benefits. Another leadership is situational leadership. It is the leadership in
which the leader reacts according to the situation encountered by the business. There are varies
business situations which are encountered by a business in its lifetime. A leader must understand
the situation and then formulate the strategies and make adjustments in accordance with the
situation. There is one more leadership approach which is servant leadership. The servant
leadership is the approach I which the leader’s main motive is to act in good faith for the
employees and the organisation. In my view, the servant leadership is the best approach as it is
dedicated to the service of the business and the employees (Rai & Prakash, 2012. para. 3. pp.
67).
There was a situation when the company was going in the loss, and the employees were leaving
the organization. In that situation, it was my responsibility to motivate the employees and guide
them in an effective manner so that they do not leave the organization but give solutions to come
out of the business situation. I can say that I performed my duty very well.

MGMT1101: Leadership management
Leaders influence the employees in a positive and negative manner. There are numerous
examples for both. The first example is of a leader with a positive influence on the employees.
The leader was Bill Clinton who is the founder of the Clinton Foundation. Clinton always
believed that that the employees are an integral part of any organization and without the support
of the employees no organization can work and prosper. He always focused on the happiness and
satisfaction of the employees as their support and contribution are very important for the growth
of the business. The example of a leader who influenced the employees in a negative manner is
Kim Jong-Un. He is the supreme leader of North Korea. In his opinion, he is the God. People of
the country cannot live their lives according to their will; they have to follow the rules set y Kim.
According to Kim, no one I the country can defeat him or go beyond his orders. For him, only he
matters, the population of the country has no importance.
Leadership Scenario
Scenario 1: In the first scenario, the leader can adopt the selling style of leadership. The
selling style of leadership is appropriate in this situation as this will help the leader to
understand the bonds between the employees. The selling style will assist in building
strong relationships among the team members.
Scenario 2: To handle the second business situation, the leader needs to adopt the
directive style of leadership. By the application of the directive style of leadership, the
leader will be able to guide the employee to utilize her knowledge inappropriately
completing the activities and tasks given to her.
Scenario 3: as a general manager of a restaurant where the sales are low, and the staff
members are de-motivated, I need to have certain skills or qualities that will help me to
resolve all the adverse business conditions. The first quality is the decision making a skill

that will prove to be beneficial in taking relevant business decisions. The second quality
is the intelligence which will be helpful in implementing the correct leadership style in
the correct situation and implement important business strategies. The third quality is that
I am optimistic. To be positive in every condition is also very essential for a leader (Dries
& Pepermans, 2012, para. 2. pp. 372).
Scenario 4: In the fourth scenario, the leadership style that will suit the best is the
directive approach of leadership. This will guide and motivate the employees to head
towards the achievement of the organizational objectives.
Scenario 5: To handle the situation in the last scenario, the leader can make use of the
supportive leadership approach. By the application of supportive leadership, the leader
can motivate the employees to focus on their goals and the organizational objectives and
use their energies in a productive manner (Lacoma, 2019).
Personal leadership profile
A leader is the one who is able to manage people and other resources in the business to achieve
the organisational objective. To be a leader is a great responsibility. And a person needs to be
prepared for the challenges that he would encounter in the role of being a leader. I also want to
be a manager in a multinational corporation in my future. I have various leadership qualities
which I think will assist me in my future. The first quality is the quality that I am a very positive
person. A positive person leads to positivity in the environment. A positive person can always
have a solution to a problem. A leader must be positive so that he can motivate his employees
also. Another quality that I have is that I am a confident person. For managing people at the
workplace, the leader needs to be confident. A confident person has a very inspiring aura that
will help the leader to manage the employee. One more quality which I think would help me in

my job is the management of time. Time management is very crucial in an organisation. A leader
must know the importance of time management and manage all the activities according to the
time schedule. All the activities of the business must be arranged in a time frame by the leader. I
will always be ethical in my acts and always try to incorporate ethical standards in the
organisation. This will be beneficial for me as well my organisation.
There is a quality which I think I lack and is important to be a successful leader. The quality is an
innovative skill. I think that I am not that innovative in my thinking. I need to develop innovative
skills to be a good leader in the future. The learning of the whole concept and theories of
leadership will assist me in the successful accomplishment of all the responsibility as a manager.
The learning also provided me insights about the different approaches that will help me in
implementing the correct style of the leadership in different business situations. I think I can be a
good leader is I focus on my weaknesses and learn to be innovative in my creations. The learning
of the leadership theories will contribute to my job profile as I will able to motivate the
employees in an effective manner.
Conclusion

in different business conditions. The assignment also gave information about the qualities of a
leader which are useful to be a great leader in the workplace. To understand the importance of
leadership is important for an individual as this will assist the person in applying the proper
leadership style in a particular organisational structure.
