Leadership is an indefensible function which assists management to increase
efficiency for accomplishing organizational goals and objectives. As a leader, a
person plays a multitude of roles and responsibilities to subordinates for doing
specific tasks or operations (McCleskey, 2014, pp. 117, para. 5). This report is an
attempt to define to identify the different approaches of leadership which assist
individuals to fulfil their roles as a leader.
Trait theory
The trait theory of leadership emphasis on attributes or characteristics of individuals
that makes them successful or unsuccessful leaders; this theory is acquired to predict
leadership effectiveness. According to trait theory, successful leaders have
definitely interest, skills, qualities and personality traits which differs them from
others (Nawaz and Khan, 2016, pp. 5, para. 2). Being a leader, one of the significant
qualities which I persist is honesty and integrity. My leadership skill poses that
honesty and integrity allow me to be honest towards my business organization and
followers. Being honest and integrate also helps me to build healthy relations with my
colleagues as well as increase the chance that my followers will follow my
instructions. Being a leader, I need to emphasis on my cognitive skills to work
efficiently at the workplace. Cognitive abilities signify that leaders have to enough
intelligent and smart in regards to collecting information, make instant decisions, find
out best solutions, assess problems; being a leader, I need to improve my cognitive
intelligence little more as it will support me to take corrective actions and create long

Another trait of leadership is the extrovert nature of an individual which allows them
to communicate with other people and develop ideas. I am an extrovert person since
my childhood, due to which I always have been participating in different social
activities and love engaging with people. Along with this, the kind of behaviour
allows leaders to communicate with their subordinates and senior managers as well as
present their ideas or viewpoints among the public without any hesitation. By using
this skill, I can make changes in working environments and implement strategies to
boost up employees functioning. My extrovert behaviour would support me to
influence my followers to participate in the decision-making process within a business
organization.
Situational, Transformational, and Servant Leadership
Leadership has many styles and forms, in which three main styles of leadership are –
situational, transformational and servant leadership. In which, transformational
leadership style refers to inspire followers beyond their self-interest which is also
good for a business organization. Such leaders help and provide assistance to their
followers to talk on old issues or problems in new ways and determine their solutions.
Leaders who follow transformational leadership style are always excite and inspire
term vision for the business organization. This skill also helps me to think, remember,
read and pay attention to the situation in the best possible manner. It enables me to
work together with my subordinates thus to manage work in the best possible manner
and develop business ideas as well. By having strong cognitive skills, I will be able to
