Operations or functions are the activities which are followed by the organisation which
are undertaken by organisation to have a good accessibility of operations which are followed by
an enterprise. As a range of operations are required to be followed within the organisation, the
productivity and profitability is increased on a larger extent. The present assignment will cover
the details of UK based retail firm, Sainsbury. It is Third largest merchandising chain in UK.
The report is going to cover the roles and responsibilities of leaders and managers with
their characteristics in various situations. The different operation management theories are been
taken in consideration which supports suitable supporting of roles of leaders and managers which
are operating for management of operations. Besides this, the value and importance of operations
management. Other than this, the factors and interrelatedness of operations management and
decision making is been observed and explained.

simple definitions means a person in a group who posses the combination of leadership skills and
personality which makes other to follow its direction. Manager is defined as a person who is
responsible for administering or controlling a group of staff or an organisation. Manager is an
individual in an organisation who is in charge of certain group or task of company. Different

making measures which are carried out and managed in an effective way. The leaders will look
after the proper planning of the operational measures which are carried out within the enterprise.
They will interact with people to improve the decision making approaches which are followed
within organisation.
Functions of managers: The manager will create a range of operations which are carried
out within the organisation which are followed by the organisation. They will see through the
proper assessment of the operations which are followed by the organisation. All these measures
which are followed will improve the sales and overall decision making within the organisation.
These measures supports in improving and establishing of the effective decision making ability.
Performance monitoring:
Role of leaders: The leaders will develop the strategies and undertaken suitable measures
to evaluate the working ability and effectiveness of a candidate. As they will be in regular
contact with their team mates and has a keen knowledge of everyone's strength and weaknesses.
It will help in proper planning of the service measures which supports a positive planning of the

which are carried out that will help in the proper planning of the service measures which are
undertaken within the organisation. The leaders and managers will try to influence the fellow
employees which are undertaken within the organisation. There will be a constant change in the
leadership and this will impact the operations which will help in assessment of the operations
which supports improving functions which will lead to evaluation of the functions which are
carried out by the retailer. This is best suited approach to maintain or handle any sort of
situations however the measure taken to prevent one situation cannot be viable to prevent
another.
System leadership: This is based on the principles and having a good leadership which

organisation. It also helps in the suitable handling of the actions this willl help in the effective
assessment of the activities which will help in enhancing the quality of products and services
which are followed by the organisation. The DAMIC measures which is been followed will help
in defining, measuring, analysing, improving and controlling of the activities. All these measures
supports a proper assessment of the action plans to improve them.

financial budget of company. It includes organizing, controlling, resources required to
manufacture organization goods and services. Operation management focus on each and overall
process of manufacturing products, they try to managed each functions and activities under
operations. Operation manager within operation management try hard and give all their efforts
for managing the whole department effectively (Schwarz, Hall and Shibli, 2015.). They assure
company to timely deliver their services or products and to successfully turn materials into
finished input to output. It plays vital role to operate and run any task successfully in firm and
bring many advantages for them as business growth. With the help to managing overall activities
and procedure of production operation management department can be able to achieve company
desired business objectives and aims and also contribute to gain high revenue as compare to its
business competitors. OM help to reduce cost of production and assure that intangible and
tangible resources is not over wasted or stretched in company, it considered as one of the best
personality trait that run business efficiently in marketplace.
