INTRODUCTION
Leadership and management skills within an individual is being considered as a strength
and ability of an individual which help them to guide anyone towards the achievement of the
goals. To become an effective leader it is very important for an individual to have the following
traits which comprises communication, honesty, commitment, confidence and creative thinking
(Sousa and Rocha, 2019). The following report is going to cover the a experience using
theoretical model and afterwords a plan has been develop to identify the strength and weakness.
MAIN BODY
Gibbs Model of Reflection
This model is given by Graham Gibbs that includes cycle of stages. It helps a person to
learn from the experience and know about the areas of improvements. It helps them to know
about all the stages and experience of the students. All the stages are discussed below:
Description: It is the first stage in which description of the event is mentioned. It is
necessary to know and remember each and every thing regarding the event. Herein, I was given a
group project in University. There I has able to a lot about the skills that are required to manage
the work in team. There were 5 members in team and I was team leader. The team members who
were not ready to cooperate and unable to complete the project. There were so many issues
related to cooperation that were seen among the team members (Stephenson, 2018). But, in the
end we as a team were able to complete the project effectively.
Feelings: It is the next step in the cycle of reflection. In the starting, when the team was
made I was feeling nervous because it was my first project as leader. It is seen that the team
members were also not confident as I was given thus opportunity for the first time. The feeling
was of nervousness and I was scared that I will be able to manage team or not. The work will be
completed on time or not. All this lead to wastage of time and delay in working.
Evaluation: In the starting, I assigned work to all the members and gave them deadline.
There were various conflicts that took place and they were unable to cooperate. This made our
team to work slowly (Rajeh and et.al., 2020). Then I used my conflict solving skills and
understood the issue. I interacted with all the team members and asked their problem. Individual
solution was given to watch of them. This build the confidence level of the team members and

then they started trusting me. This was a good thing that took place and my team started
cooperating with each other.
Afterwards, I used by research skills and analysed the right way of assigning work to the
team members. There are certain leadership styles that can be used to work in team and manage
the work. Democratic style of leadership is best and it helps to include all the team members and
take right decision. I was lacking decision-making skills and due to this reason I was unable to
assign the right work to right person. After working on decision-making skills, I understood that
there is need to assign work to the team members as per their capabilities. I asked all of them to
conduct SWOT analysis and analysed there strengths and weakness. By knowing their
strengthens, the work was divided among them. It helped them to complete the work effectively
and enjoy the same (Winton, Palmer and Hughes, 2018). All the team members adhered the
timeline and completed the coverall work. It is necessary to be punctual so that all the work is
completed on time. There is need to understand that the work must be completed by the team
members in effective manner and with full cooperation. I have analysed that, when they were not
cooperating with each other our team was not able to manage the work. It is seen that there are
need to manage the overall work so that they are able to cooperate with one another and carry on
all the activities.
Conclusion: It is concluded that there is need of proper understanding and cooperation so
that team can work effectively. The leader must have necessary skills so that they are able to lead
the team in proper manner. In future, if such situation will arise, I will ask the team members to
conduct SWOT analysis.
Action Plan: There is need to create action plan so that the skills can be enhanced. It is
important to learn from all the experience and know the weakness. Below are actions that will
help to enhance the areas of weaknesses.
