INTRODUCTION
The development of leadership as well as management skills within an individual provides
assistance to it in getting to the top of any type of career field. Leadership skills are considered
as the critical traits that are essential to be developed within a person so that it can improve its
performance and overcome the challenges that are faced by it (Bush, Bell and Middlewood,
2019). Being a critical thinker, a good and a manager can foresee prospective issues before they
occur. This project is based on self-reflection in which there will be assessment of leadership as
well as management capabilities through using models for recognising both strengths and
weaknesses.
MAIN BODY
Assess leadership and management capabilities with the help of models in order to identify
strengths and weaknesses
Leadership skills are those significant traits that facilitate in motivating other people
within workplace in order to attain the goals as well as objectives of an organisation. Effective
leaders assist in managing different activities along with processes and also maintain a focussed
track so that each manpower can perform its operations effectively. Such kinds of leaders
motivate their workforce and increase their interest to do work in a more successful way which
is considered as a positive determinant of leadership (Holt, Hall and Gilley, 2018). Therefore,
without leaders and managers, an organisation cannot effectively attain its set objectives as these
individuals are accountable for maintaining activities in an appropriate direction whichever is
essential. There are different types of leadership skills that are significant within a workplace
and some of them are discussed as under through using leadership and management models:
Autocratic leadership: Under this kind of leadership style or model, leader or managers
of a business not involve their human resources in the process of planning as well as
decision-making. Such types of leaders formulate their own decisions and take less input
from their employees and also assign responsibilities and duties to their corresponding
workforce (Laut and et.al., 2018). This kind of leadership model provides assistance to
me in framing effective and fast decisions regarding business operations each day. The
respective model also helps me in avoiding different errors as well as mistakes from
those operations that leads to greater level of profitability. With the support of this

model, I can delegate duties to my workforce in an effective manner which will assist in
creating activities faster and easier.
Democratic leadership: As per this kind of leadership model, leaders or managers of an
organisation gives opportunities to their employees in the process of decision making to
put their views and ideas in front of everyone. Hence, this is also known as participative
leadership model which suggests that leaders must collaborate with their employees for
encouraging them in taking decisions regarding business (Major, 2019). Such kind of
model facilitates me in boosting decision-making capacity as well as productivity so that
I will be able to meet my objectives and goals in a successful way. This model will help
me in enhancing the level of my confidence which leads to effective growth as well as
development for leading teams.
Laissez Faire: It is another kind of leadership model which suggests that businesses
must offer flexibility to their manpower in taking participation in each organisational
activity. This helps in the process of maintaining positive working environment within
workplace as it permits all human resources in framing decisions as per their behaviour
as well as attitude. Such type of model provides assistance to me in retaining customers
effectively for the purpose of contributing favourable efforts towards activities. I can use
this model in case where manpower can frame decisions for their own actions in a
flexible manner.
Frome above discussion, it is evaluated that these models facilitate me in future in
managing teams as per business environment (Megheirkouni and Mejheirkouni, 2020).
Different circumstances need different leadership models that help in designing effective
organisational strategies. Also, there are various leadership and management capabilities that
are inherited by me which can depict my strengths and weaknesses:
Communication skills: This kind of capability can help me in influencing behaviour
with effective leadership that will lead to greater amount of profits. Communicating with
other people effectively will facilitate me in explaining, sharing and exchanging ideas,
thoughts and views. This will reduce errors and mistakes as well as clarify
misunderstandings regarding business operations that can impact entire performance and
growth of business.

Delegating skills: Such skill will help me in distributing tasks among employees so that
objectives can be achieved in set time period successfully. Through this skill, I can
minimise stress and burden through delegating work within workplace as it includes
efforts of every single manpower of an organisation (Nghia, Phuong and Huong, 2020).
This will also help me in evaluating performance of business as a whole by seeking
feedbacks and reviews from employees.
Problem-solving skills: With the help of this type of skill, I can solve problems and
create new solutions that can help me in sorting and overcoming the barriers and
complexities. Through exercising various team projects, I can handle different problems
of business on a daily basis so that organisational activities can run in a smooth and
effective manner.
Team-building skills: For achieving success and growth, this skill is significant to
establish successful teams within the workplace. Through this kind of skill, I can
maintain uniformity within groups by removing discrimination and partialities (Wells,
2021). Such kind of skill will also help me in developing new, creative as well as
innovative ideas in a short period of time with the support of contribution of different
members of team. I can successfully lead a team through developing this skill as it
provides assistance to me in maintaining better relationships among team and also helps
in resolving conflicts as well as fostering peace along with harmony regarding
organisational activities.
CONCLUSION
From above explanation of the report, it has been concluded that the development of
leadership and management skills facilitate a person in enhancing its confidence level,
strengthening communication as well as negotiation skills along with developing its overall
personality. Within this project, various leadership and management skills have been identified
by making use of various models that are associated with leadership and management for the
purpose of recognising strengths and weaknesses. The development of such capabilities within a
person assists in boosting the morale and providing motivation to other people towards
accomplishment of its goals and objectives.
