The purpose of this handbook in to identify important terms which are essential for
the managers and leaders of the organisations, doing business in this competitive world need
to know. Through this particular hand book, the readers will be able to identify the important
words which are used in this current business situations as well as organisations. Each of the
terms are chosen based on its relevance and importance. For effective management, one must
know these terms associated with leadership traits, behaviours, methods and characteristics.
This hand book includes the types of leadership styles, management issues and types of
followers which the leaders often deal with. This also includes various emotional elements
which the 21st century managers find among their followers or use to influence their
subordinates. These terms will help the readers to know the nature of the business of this
recent time and respond accordingly.
Leadership
Definition 1.
Leadership is the capability to motivate people in an organisation or community so
that they know the goals of that particular organisation. Leadership is a strength to influence
others and bring them into the path that they themselves follow. Effective leaders instigate
their followers to attain those goals in the most efficient way and within the desired time.
Definition 2.
Leaders are the motivators. Through their communicative skills they convey their

and grant their followers or subordinates. Consideration behaviour of the leaders determines
whether the leader is empathetic to his followers. These types of leaders show genuine
concern for the wellbeing of the followers and take care of them by establishing a friendly,
warm as well as supportive environment within the organisation.
Charismatic Leadership
Definition 1.
This is a personal trait of the leaders which make them efficient to attract more
people. This personality trait is one of the most important characteristics of the leaders
(Cavazotte, Moreno and Hickmann 2012). Most of the critics support this trait of the leaders
as this ability differentiate the from others in the crowd. Most of the renowned leaders are
charismatic in their characteristics and able to attract people towards their thoughts and ideas.
Definition 2.
Charismatic leaders are able to attract their followers in an outstanding way and
motivate them in a unique process. Through their sole and exclusive features, the charismatic
leaders can find new ways to develop a relationship between the leaders and followers.
Through their charismatic personality, the leaders can effectively inspire their followers

their righteousness which effectively get emitted to their followers as well. They are open and
authentic hence which attract the followers more thus they get huge support in their actions
and thoughts.

The authentic leaders always follow the right path to complete and action. In case
they feel that they do not have muck knowledge about the task they follow the logical way to
finish it. They have positive self-regulation which they spread through their ideas as well as
actions. They are aware about themselves hence know all the strength and weaknesses. They

Interactive leadership

This style of management allows the individuals to exercise methods of creating value
in the minds of the others. This method of management permits the process of enhancing
value for creating a good impression based on the thought as well as actions. This is an
intentional effort where the people gain support though building a self-image on the eyes of

Passive Follower
Definition 1.
There are various types of followers who follow their leaders in most effective
manner. Some of the leaders cannot help but get inspired with the charisma of their leaders or
their authenticity and morality. Some of them get amazed by the ideology of the leaders and
follow them blindly. However, some of the people among the followers do not agree with
some ideas or actions of their leaders hence follow them passively. They do neither support
their leaders in utmost manner nor they criticize the flaws in their leaders. These followers
are called passive followers.
Influence
Definition 1.
It is an effect or charm which motivate others to follow the influencer without much
effort. Leaders use influencing method as weapon to instigate their employees or followers
where they manipulate their subordinates thus change their beliefs, values, attitudes and
behavior when influencing them. This culminates a change in the perspective of the followers
and they start to think like their influencers.

Motivation
Definition 1.
It is an emotional as well as psychological element which has positive energy to do
the most difficult thing in most easy manner. This creates enthusiasm in the minds of the
followers and they feel a zeal to accomplish a job efficiently. Most of the leaders use this
method to gain support for their deeds or bring their followers under their own ideology or
desire. The leaders arouse persistence in the midst of their followers so that they can pursue a
particular course of action efficiently.
Definition 2.
The motivation is felt by the people in many ways. Some feel motivated to attain a
perfect goal and build their career, some feel motivated to buy new and expensive things and
some feel motivation to avoid distractions preventing their personal growth (Dinh et al.
2014). However, it is a psychological process though which people tend to do some actions
and feel the positive result from their actions.
Equity Theory
Definition 1.
This theory is associated with the psychology of the employees where the employees
in an organization efficiently judge their position in the eyes of the others. Everyone wants to
be treated fairly hence there is a self-awareness whether he or she is treated fairly by the
superiors as well as their colleagues. This is associated with their promotion, achievements
and professional development so everyone feel concern about their own position and
treatment by others.

It is a group or community of people which is build aiming to perform a special job or
task. All the members of a tea have common and specific objective. These objectives
influence the team members to perform their tasks beyond their own self rather or the team.
To them the chief aim is to accomplish a task as efficiently as possible and in doing so, these
members follow the method of proper interaction and coordination among themselves.

In a team there is a group of people who work as a unit and interact among
themselves to find the best possible way to accomplish a task. In the team they can influence
one another by sharing their own thoughts and ideas and take responsibilities to achieve their
common goal. In a tram, each of the team member has different types of duties according
their own strength and choices. These members of team grant themselves to as a single entity
which cannot be disturbed by any external difficulties.
Team Norm
Definition 1.
In working in an organization there are ample norms so that the discipline and focus
of the organization do not get disturbed so also in the team there are norms which are meant

the teams in an organization has their own norms and processes through which they guide
their members and maintain a special code of conduct so that no one feel deprived or

The team norms are not always written but remain informal but it is mandatory that
every one of the team members are well acquitted with these norms and rules of the teams.

Team Cohesiveness

It is a method through which the team members feel themselves as an important part
of their teams. To the members, the teams are like their families for which they perform and
feel attached to grow with other team members. It is a positive way to work as team
cohesiveness helps to build trust among the team members and create scope to gain
competitive advantage in the organization.

Team cohesion is a positive aspect of team building and maintenance where the team
members do not feel to leave their teams nor they avoid duties towards their team members.
The more a team is attached, more it will growth and gain opportunity to flourish amid this
