Introduction
In the current business scenario, leadership holds an important part in driving the
efficiency of the contemporary business organizations. This is due to the reason that, with having
the intensely competitive market, business organizations has to always maintain their
competitive advantages in order to stay ahead in the competition (Urbancova 2013). One of their
main sources of gaining competitive advantages is their human resources. The more skilled and
trained will be the human resources, the more will be their effectiveness in dealing with the
organizational challenges. On the other hand, leadership plays the most important role in
managing the employees and maintains their effectiveness and efficiency (Raducan and Raducan
2014).
This report will discuss about the past work practices and environment in Tesco and the
change happened with the change in the leadership roles. Moreover, the role of mine in the
incident along with the experience gathered by me will also be discussed.
Case study
In the case of the Tesco, leadership roles and the change in their leadership gone wrong,
this further had negative implications on their business operation. In the late 2016, Tesco was
going through the change in their upper level management settings. It was witnessed that the
change in the leadership roles are having negative impact on the employees. It was also
witnessed that the competitive advantages gained by Tesco from their employees are slowly
being faded away. Various issues such as employee turnover and demoralization of the
employees are being emerged. Thus, they are in the need of effective leadership strategies to
overcome these issues.
