1.2 Impact of Legal, regulatory and ethical considerations for the
recruitment and selection
There are several guidelines which are to be taken into consideration
while performing the selection and recruitment process by any company in
any country (CALIN, 2016). So as this happens in UK so UPS company have to
follow these legal, regulatory and ethical practices while recruitment: The Equality Act 2010: This act states that each and every person is
equal before law. So UPS should treat every individual equal without
any discrimination. This has to be followed at the time of recruitment
and selection as well (Cenderello, 2015). Equal Pay Act 1970: This act states that each and every individual
working at the same level should get equal pay according to the work
assigned. UPS has to set the pays of the employees according to the
work assigned to them and it should not be less or more. Race Relation Act 1976: This act aims at prohibiting each and every
crime or discrimination relating to the colour of a person in UK. In
context to this UPS has to follow this rule while selecting any
employee for the organisation.
Employment Protection Act 1978: This act aims at providing the
employee all the information to the person who is selected. The
details like commencement, payment, holidays, working hours,
termination policy etc. (Hoover, 2015). So UPS needs to take this act into
consideration while recruitment and selection of an employee.

AUTHORITARIAN DEMOCRATIC LAISSEZ FAIRE
This style aims at directing
people by leader. All the
power of decision making lies
in the hand of the leader.
This styles aims at involving
the subordinates in decision
making process.
This style completely gives the
power to the subordinates to
make decision according to
them.
This style of leadership is
chosen when the size of team
is large and the opinions of
each and every person can't be
recorded.
This style of leader does not
have an impact due to the size
of the team. The smaller the
team the fast the conclusion
and the bigger the team the
delays in conclusion for a
problem.
For this style team size is not a
major factor. Experience of a
person only is the major factor
because the reliability on the
experienced team have more
positive impact than that of
inexperienced team.
Leader maintain all the

people are maintained by the

the leader to choose best

It gives a chance to the
followers to be independent
and gives a free time to the

This is least dangerous
because all the decisions are
taken by the leader itself.
This is more dangerous as the
opinions of the employees
might be wrong (Herring,

This is the most dangerous as
the leader is completely
reliable on the followers for
work which have maximum
chances of being wrong.

2.4 Ways to motivate staff to achieve objectives
The employees can be motivated in different ways. They can be
Positive and negative. Positive motivation employees are motivated by
bonus, extra pay, and various other incentives for the work that a company
pays to motivate employees. Negative motivation can be by punishment,
reduction in pay of the employee, setting the targets etc. Both of these
motivation can be used by UPS as the situation is demands (Cenderello, 2015).
Right now as the company is facing loss than it can use non-monetary
motivation like promotion etc. and can use the negative motivation to
terminate the employees who are not appropriate.

Unity in diversity. UPS company is facing loss and problems in its
working. In such a situation a company has to work towards coping up with
