Mentor Review
A mentor is an individual who is responsible for shaping up one’s personality and
enhance the development of the particular characteristics of a person through professional
guidance. One can achieve a renowned career and develop beneficial qualities for gaining a
resourceful life.
In my life, I consider my parents to be my first set of mentors. As a mentor, they
possesses all the qualities to guide me through my student life, mainly during my teenage
days. They were quite enthusiastic in their role and continuously supported me for all my
activities regarding studies. Apart from guiding me with efficient techniques in completing
my syllabus and excelling my assessments, they encouraged me for co-curricular activities.
They believed one needs to be exposed to different activities so that he can select his major
area of interest and pursue their career in that sector (Hernandez et al., 2017). Hence, they
encouraged me for participating in sports, programs, debates, quiz competitions as well as
continue my studies effortlessly.
The primary attribute that I gained from performing all these activities is time management
(Schatz-Oppenheimer, 2017). I could plan all my activities throughout the day and
accomplish them in an orderly sequence thus completing all my tasks efficiently within time.
Moreover, my parents taught me the importance of discipline in life. A person in order to
achieve success in life should maintain discipline in all his activities. Hence, they advised me
to be disciplined before setting the goal of my life. They did not support any of my
wrongdoings and explained me in details where should I correct myself in order to mould my
personality like that of a good human being.
The second set of mentors of my life are my teachers from school who contributed
much in shaping up my career. Dependability is one of the major attributes of an excellent

count on their advices without any failure. The teachers in my school were the ones on whom
I could depend exclusively for any kind of help. The Computer Teacher in my sixth standard,
Miss Emma Darwin played a significant role in growing my interest towards the subject of
Computer. She not only taught the subject well, but also provided with a great amount of
knowledge about the technological developments worldwide. She specifically focused on the
practical sessions such that I can perform the technical functions at ease and conducted
regular quizzes to grow our interest on the subject.
From her teachings, I could develop a vision about my career goals and could set my
area of interest. I learned from her that we should love the job that we will be doing in our
future life and that will help us to accomplish an uplift in our career graph effortlessly (Rolfe,
2017). Thus, my love for coding helped me to decide that I want to pursue my career as a
software developer in any reputed organization. She guided me thoroughly about my career
choices and taught me how to hold patience while debugging codes. As a mentor, she always
pushed me to step out of my comfort zone by providing me with difficult codes such that I
become flexible with coding in the later part of my career.
My third mentor I would consider Mr James Taylor who was a professor at the
University level. He was an excellent human being who possessed the core qualities of a
mentor and thus I was highly privileged to complete my course under his guidance. The
major quality of him as a mentor was to provide feedback on my assignments that were
genuinely considerable (Ko et al., 2018). A mentor is someone who should let someone
accomplish the task on his own and provide with critical reviews. These reviews helps one to
learn from his own mistakes and increases the base of knowledge. Hence, by providing
feedbacks on my assignments, I became responsible enough to rectify my own mistakes and
gradually improved my coding skills on the development programs.
