Leadership in current situation is becoming very difficult and complex which is clearly
related to the current world scenario. According to Abecassis-Moedas and Gilson (2018) the
advent of globalisation creates more obstacle to the understanding of right leadership qualities in
both personal and professional sphere. According to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam “leadership
requires three traits like having a vision, explore new pathways and manage both success and
failure.” From that point of view, a leader has to maintain a farsighted vision and the ability to
explore new alternatives. In fact, it is also essential for a successful leader to look into the
weaknesses and strengths at the same time so that he or she will able to take necessary actions.
Therefore, this report is going to address the leadership style and qualities of Dr. APJ Abdul
Kalam and emphasize on the creative leadership style of Dr.Kalam.

1931 in Tamil Nadu, South India. As one of the leading scientist Dr. Kalam was an Well known
aerospace engineer professor and the first Chancellor of Indian Institute of Space Science and
Technology Thiruvanthapuram. He was named the ‘Missile Man of India’ due to his huge
contribution to the Indian space science and innovation. As a matter of fact, he was the most
popular President that Indian ever had since independence. Moreover, he is also an icon of
inspiration to the Indian youths and focused on the anti-corruption movement strongly. It is
important to analyze his leadership style and the qualities that he enjoyed since the last days of
his life.

important to note that critical analysis, experimentation and a wider vision is very essential for
the success of the creative leaders. The creative leadership practice has a unique resemblance
with transformational leadership, authentic leadership and servant leadership. As opined by
Svejenova and Christiansen (2018) the creative leadership trait is quite similar to the
transformational leadership approach where both the leadership style embark on the same
principle of moral values, inspirational influence and having a social impact.
My Chosen Model and My Exemplar
My chosen model of leadership is transformational leadership and I opt for the leadership
style of Dr. A.P. J. Abdul Kalam. There are two important facets that drive me to choose the
leadership trait of Dr. Kalam. First of all, I can say that Dr. Kalam is an inspiration and an icon
