In the modern age of the competitive business environment, the leaders are facing several
challenges within their domain to manage their teams. Some of these challenges are very
important since the difficulties are on the rise (Reeves & Ventura, 2012).
The leaders must comprehend that the contemporary environment is full of Volatility,
Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity (VUCA). This is why the leaders are facing several
troubles to predict what may lie ahead in the future (Latchem & Hanna, 2013).
Most of the companies have not been able to get the things right and straight in terms of
adopting the basic leadership and management styles. As per the critics, the main problem lies
within investing in the frontline and the middle management training to become excellent leaders
(Reeves & Ventura, 2012).
The leaders must show a high amount of capability and provide their best performance so
the organization can get the best outcomes indeed. Many studies have found that the employees
are not at all properly connected or committed to the growth of the growth of the organizations
(Drucker, 2012).
This is probably due to the wrong leadership styles in the current times. The under-
performance of the leaders is leading to the mishaps of the companies (Weisband, 2013). Most
times it has been reported that the leaders of the organization do not have a proper training.
They are also unable to cope up with the challenges and mounting pressures within the
contemporary period (Drucker, 2012). It is the responsibility of the leaders to understand the root
causes of the dysfunctions that are caused within the organization.

The leaders are sometimes are not able to fix the strategic directions that would be the
most suitable for the success of the organization. The leaders are mostly unable to gain the trust
of the employees and this is a huge problem for them (O'Connell, 2014).
Thus the leaders are not able to implement the change process because of the lack of trust
among the employees. If the previous change policy did not yield good results, it would be
almost impossible for the people to trust their leaders if they initiate for a new change.
However, it will be problematic from their end as well since they will not have the proper
confidence to bring in the changes.
