Leadership and Motivation
Leaders are engaged in behaviors that complement environment and ability in a way that
compensates for deficiencies and is instrumental in subordinating satisfaction and individual and
performance of individuals and units of work.
One of the following theories which I found quite relevant and practical is the "Charismatic
Leadership Theory", which is based on the belief that a leader must possess some extraordinary
and exceptional qualities to become an effective leader.The traits of such charismatic leaders
are:-
● Envisioner-Leaders who usually have high expectations and dreams, foresee future
possibilities and create a vision or goal and plan accordingly. An envisioner can highlight
the followers how shall their values or efforts can reap desired rewards.
● Energizer-Highly enthusiastic, proactive, energetic and confident. They aim towards
success through their energy. ("What Is Leadership?", 2019)
● Guide-Leading the followers with great compassion and trust by providing ample support
and guidance.
There are multiple definitions of leadership, although the varying definitions generally collide in
the theory that leading politicians are prepared to make tactical and visionary decisions and
encourage others to follow those judgements.. Consensus is leaders who develop a vision and
will get others to operate toward same goal efficiently.. The Charismatic theory of leadership
when applied in conjunction with the Victor Vroom's Expectancy Theory of motivation leads to
better results and successful stories as it explains that the same is actually a product of valance,

Generally, surprise employee departures are a result of lack of motivation due to poor leadership.
It is generally said that employees don't leave jobs, they leave their Bosses. Arrogant leaders
have a shelf-life within their organizations. (Martin & Guéguen, 2015) Managers who provide
their employees opportunities to develop their careers are in a good position to retain their
employees eventually.. A leader should work on self efficacy which is the individual's belief
about one’s ability to mobilize motivation, cognitive resource, and series of actions required to

Once I had personally experienced the instance of leadership and motivation. I was in high
school when started working for a pizza food joint, Fabbrica Della pizza which was done
basically to utilise my weekends. The wage was though minimum.
This was a complete turnaround as I could figure out the cases how employees were motivated
and literally trained to face the clever world beyond my school. Every coin has two sides,
similarly there were both pros and cons of the job.
I can share from my personal experience that what one needs the most in job, is “Patience”.
Another important factor that I have learned is Teamwork since employees at a pizza joint are
trained for a variety situations where work can be done perfectly with joint efforts only.
It might sound easy to sling pies for a living, but there are major downsides to this kind of low-
wage job as there can be two profiles, one can be cooking pizza and the other delivering the
same, both of which are equally challenging.
