INTRODUCTION
Management is an activity of negotiating and dominating the actions and business
operations of an organisation irrespective of its nature, form or structure and size. Apart from
this, it is an act of framing and maintaining such business environment where each firm can work
together and accomplish the set objective s and aims of the company in improved manner. There
are diverse actions that consist in management like distribution and supply chain management
(Battaïa and et. al., 2018). This assignment is based on Airdri Ltd which is a manufacturer of
warm air and hand dryers. This company has 40 years experiences in the design and production
of warm air and hand dryers. This written document will discuss about different roles and
responsibilities of leaders and mangers for effective understanding of environment. Moreover,
different theories and concepts are c0overed in context of managing and controlling the business
actions. Operation management is effective as this assist in accomplishing business objectives in
proper way.

1. Definitions of roles of management and leadership
Leadership is explained as the capability of an individual or a company to lead a unit of
multitude to a common aim and objective by developing clear vision and providing information
about it to all employees and teammates.
Management is described as an act of conducting and coordinating entire activities and
operations of a company to accomplish the set aims, vision, mission and objectives by the
leadership in set time duration.
According to Rauch & Behling, Leader is an individual who is accountable to motivate
people of a company to accompl9oh the activities of an organised group toward goal
achievement.
According to George R. Terry, Manager is an individual who is in-charge of a team of
individual for executing a specific task within the firm (Carreiro, Jorge and Antunes, 2017). The
person are responsible to devise and frame strategies to accomplish business aims and objectives.
2. Difference between leadership and management functions
Accordant to John Kotter, there are several different between leadership and management
and the explanation of them as below:

whereas administrator has to utilise their title to acquire individual to listen them.
ï‚· Leadership is simply explained as the activity of directing a group of individual whereas
is defined as the activity of administrating and controlling business activities and people

shout among the verifiable of workforce and the objectives of a company. Accordant to P.
Ducker's , management by objectives is to determine joint objectives and to offer feedback on
the results. There are several conditions that are set by respected anthers and they are consisted
as the process of management by objective. To accomplish business goal, firstly company set
business objectives then provide information about it to employees so that they aware with
them. Next step is monitor, the management should monitor employees execution and provide
them help where they required. In nest phase management and employees meet to discuss that
how well they has met their objective. Finally step is reward performance, in this stage,
employees are rewarded for their good performance and hard work in term of attaining business
aim.

Accordant to H. Mintzberg, roles of administration are explained as under:
Monitor- In this role, the person seek out information connected to company and sector,
looking for relevant changes in the environment (Gerrish and et. al., 2017). Fro example, in
Airdri Ltd, the management of the company can adopt this role and with the help of it they can
identifying the changes that are generating specific industry in which they operating their
business.
Disseminator- It is another role of management, in it the manager communicate
important information to its employees. For instant, in the situation of adopting new technology

and framing new strategy, the manager of Airdri can deliver this information by adopting this
management role to all the workforce of the firm.
Spokesperson- In it, manager represent and speak for their company. In Airdri, by
adopting this management role, administrator can transmit and deliver information about
business gaols of the company to its investors, customers, suppliers and others (Gokhale and
Vibhor, 2017).
5.Analyses leadership traits theory and discuss two styles of leadership
Trait Theory of Leadership- This concept of leadership is founded on the characteristics of
diverse leaders both the prosperous and unsuccessful. In Airdri, this theory can be implement to
predict effective leadership. The trait theory gives constructive information about leadership. For
example, the respective company can implement this concept to form the manager aware of their
capability and weaknesses and therefore they get an effective acknowledgement of how they can
improve their leadership abilities.
Styles of leadership
Democratic leadership style- In this leadership style, the individual make discussion to
the employees and team member before taking decision. For example, in Airdri, this leadership
style can be follow in company board meeting in which all the employees are allow to participate
and share their views.
Autocratic leadership style- It is another leadership form in which individual is the single
person who is responsible to take decision. Fro instance, in Airdri, if the manger make changes
in working hours for various employees without consulting them, then style of leadership can be
adopt by them.

Hard management skills- It basically include of some particular skills that are most
important to a person in context of accomplish growth and success regarding a specific job role.
In context of Airdri, it consist that knowledge and skills that assists in enhancing the execution of
employees (Ichinose, and et. al., 2018). Hard skills are knowledge about accounting, web
designing, computer programming, mathematics etc.
Soft leadership skills- It refer to those skills that are required by a leader to perform their
business function in more improved way. In reference to Airdri, leaders of the firm have some
soft skills like feedback, motivation, positivity, communication, creativity and others.

Transformation activity is any action or unit acts that takes one or more inputs,
transforms and add value to them and provide results for consumers or customer (Jones, 2017).
Input resource are segregated between transformed resources such as material, information and
consumer etc. and transformation resources. For example, it can be an activity of converting raw
material in to finished goods. Three process of transformation are as beneath:

Total quality management- It indicates to an ongoing affectivity of detection, diminution and
eliminate issues and problems for the manufacturing, contour supply chain management,
processing effective consumer's experiences and assuring that workers are up to speed with
training. In Airdri, it can be an ongoing activity of determining and resolving problem from
production process of the company. The basic purpose of it is to hold all the organisations and
contributors that are pertained in production actions to all over attribute of the goods and
services.
Roles of manager- The administrator play an important role in term of assuring
unwavering concentration on both internal and external consumers and treat the providers as
business partners to make effective relation with suppliers. They also make sure continuous
improvement of the business and the manufacturing activity.

framing raw material processes. In Airdri, this approach is crucial in operation management to
minimise the shortage of attribute (Li and et. al., 2017). It is effective to reduce wastage of
manufacturing goods and services as per requirement of customers. The just in time method also
assist in the decrement of the wwastes as the products are only received when required and in

this manner wastage of commodities is stopped and the company make less investment as
receiving products at the time when it is not needed.
10.Three methods managers can adjust for capacity management in operations
Capacity management is an activity of assuring a business maximises its possible actions
and manufacture result at all times, under all situations (Malano and van Hofwegen, 2018). The
major motive of capacity management is to make sure that data technology origins are right sized
to accomplish current and future business necessities in a cost efficacious style. The methods of
capacity management are defined as under:
Recognising capacity problems- By adopting this method, the management of Airdri
can monitor capacity related issues like debasement of marine workplace resources, dissipation

Strengths of manager- The main strength of store administrator of Airdri Ltd is that the
person have the skill of multi tasking. They mange the sales activities and well as manage the
cash of the store. Apart form it the person is an effective team player because they accomplish
the sales target by working in team with sales group of the store (Rafique and et. al., 2018).
Another strength is that they make focus on the customer and offer product and services as per
their needs or also consider the changes that are occurred in their requirements.
Weaknesses of manager- The limitations of a store manager can be lack of sales
experiences because the process and activity which they performed is less close to sales.
Communication is another weakness of them because there are number of customer visit to store
and they use different language in their communication. So mangers are not have information
about different languages.

Roles and duties of store manager of Airdri are mentioned as beneath:
Management of employees- Administrating workforce is the major duty of a store
administrator. It consists the administration of store's workers that are working at diverse levels
like sales staff, store staff, cleansing staff and clerical staff.
Maintaining the sales environment- It consist execution of store layout plans,
displaying market, refilling the stock and keeping or managing sakes record in efficacious
manner.
Team leadership- The store administrator also has the responsibility of encouraging
workforce and minimising any opposition to modify in working systems that may be needed
when strategical direction are frame. The person also make sure that all the workers perform like
a group leaving any personal problem.

Types of transformation process are mentioned as beneath that can be common in context

Material processing- If the management of respective company adopt this kind of
transformation process then the administration of the respective firm can make transformation in
its manufacturing operations, mining operations and logistics operations such as shipping,
tracking, warehousing and postal facilities etc (Yabuki, 2019).
Customer processing- If the company adopt this kind of transformation process then
some of individual or customer of the firm do not like ideas that operations process consumers.

processing transformation because if it adopt then it can consider needs and demands of

It has been concluded from the above define information that management and operation
is an effective activity and process of managing employees and business functions of a company.
Leaders and administrators of the company also play effective character in administrating and
organising business operation appropriately. Different types of leadership style assist in
performing in different situations and encouraging employees to work as per the situation.
Diverse operation management approaches like TQM, Just-in-time etc. assist in minimising
waste and managing inventory.
