If we take an example of the given case study on denner which is a company in an auto-
mobile sector and supervision of the overall staff is done by three people which are art, bob,
carol. For example if situation arises in the industry where large amount of mechanical parts are
required or there is a huge demand.
Then from here the role of a leader starts to met the need of demand and supply of there
product as it is given in the case that art is handling the first shift of the workers and there are
almost twenty workers were under it. As an leader his sole responsibility is to handle the starting
work for the operation. But its leadership skill were not much effective as per view his worker
the works always joke on him. As after studying the case it has been obtained that worker were
not happy about there work as it was a repetitive and boring task so the leading skill of art is
quite fine. So here the role of the leader that is art starts to motivate the workers under him by
changing the task in regular time period so that they cannot get bored.
So the lady in the third shift who acts as an supervisor but she was able to solve many
problem related to the management. She also organises trouble shooting session where all the
trouble related to working and non working matters are considered over there. Her purpose is to
solve the arises in the working environment. She also guides the people through which workers
can become more productive. So this how the functions of manager is somewhere different that
the role of a leader. The timely allocation of the raw material is done by the upper level manager
or HR of company. But the overall distribution of the material while considering the supply and
demand of the product is by the three of the supervisor.
P3 Apply different theories and model of approach in leadership
The various approaches and theory of leadership that helps in making leader better in any
kind of situation are as follows.
Situational leadership- The arise of the particular situation in the work when a leader
tries to lead the workers around him is considered as situational leadership. In context of the
case study if the situational arises where there is the problem regarding the failure in machines
in manufacturing, then the leader is able to gain the responsibility by using the alternative
machine so that the production process does not hamper much. In organizational context, Denner

run three shifts with 40 workers on each shift. As all the supervisors are very experienced and
also been with the company from more than 20 year. In context of this, Art is supervises of first
shift and also direct them as per situation within the organization. Along with this, workers also
having few negative comments about Art leadership because most of the works are
straightforward and repetitive as well. In this Art use situational leadership with the aim of
improving workers performance at workplace.
System leadership- The leadership which enable the leader to generate such stipulation or
a system where the people can work productively and healthy environment in the full potential.
So the leadership in the context of case while having the load of work should be in the systematic
process. The overall three leaders in Denner are much capable to improve the overall system of
that can also helps there leadership style. By the help of proper system, productivity and
performance of leader as well as there co-workers can become much more effective. The
management of system can be done by giving priority to those task that needs to be implemented
for running the future work. System could become much more effective by setting deadline of
each and every task. The system leadership could only become effective only when there in
proper integration of each and part of the programme within it. With the help of this, Art, Bob
and Carol effectively use production line to make appropriate outcomes. In addition of this, Art
can be found walking through the plant and reminding people at Denner. This will help of this
they can effectively production line which may lead in attaining positive results.
Contingency leadership- The style is some where similar and different with the
situational leadership. As in this type of mode leader adjust there working. In this overall style of
a leader is matched with the correct situation. As this theory believe that there is no best style of
leadership. In the context of case study so for exam the leadership skill, motivation is needed to
the workers of organisation and carol the lady supervisor would be much effective in motivating
the workers around them as the main purpose of that lady is to solve the issues and conflict
arises. So the other two supervisor that is art and bob were not having this leadership of solving
the struggle. So this is how the leadership style is matched with the particular situation, the
overall productivity of the workers as well as management of the time also becomes effective.
