INTRODUCTION
Employees in an organisation plays a very decisive role in the development and welfare
of the entity as well as of the employees also. The members of the company execute their
assigned task with appropriate devotion so that the purpose of the organisation can be obtained.
Organisation and behaviour is study of performance adapted by the employees as well as by the
group. The individuals co-ordinate and co-operate by contributing their efforts in achieving goals
and objectives of entity (Diefenbach, 2013). In the era of charismatic business environment, it is
being essential for the business entity to adopt this technique in such a way to ensure their finest
interest. The present report is based on City college and Enterprise Rent A car. This analysis will
evaluate different aspects of the company and behaviour inside the business unit while aiming
attention on various areas such as culture, team, work, leadership, motivation, etc.
TASK1
1.1
Employee behaviour is widely influenced by company structure and culture. Organisation
structure defines hierarchy arrangement which carries line of authority, communication , rights
and duties. It also defines roles and responsibility of the employees which is carried out in
business. It emphasis more on communication aspects of the business units as different
companies has a different business structure and culture in their working.
According to the case of city college has adopted the tall structure . It develop a well
defined hierarchy which carries roles and responsibility in business and departmentalisation also
help to mange different aspects of business operations (Brown, 2013). City college uses power
culture in their business so that managerial employees manage the code of conduct and
operational aspects. This will lead to minimize the error and protect from low motivational
aspects in business.
On the other hand company called enterprise has adopted flat organisation structure in
which level of control is low and employee involvement is high. It will lead to employee
communication enhancement and their participation also increase. Enterprise has adopted the
culture which manage roles and responsibility distribution according to company requirements.
With this culture company has able to achieve their goals and also promote positive working
environment of the business (Becton, Giles and Schraeder, 2008).

There are two main elements of the business units which are organisational structure and
culture that develop significant growth & measures in business. These aspects shows an
integrated relationship which makes success and growth in business (Bolinoet and et. al., 2013).
Organisational structure indicate line of authority and control in business which brings level of
control in organisation. Organisation culture has a defined structure which carries code of
conduct and employee behaviour. Example: city college hierarchical structure has demanded
power culture due to high level of control while enterprise demanded role culture due to flat
organisation structure.
There is a significant impact of the same on business operations. The two aspects of
business that is structure and control that helps in exploring the working aspects for employees.
It also helps in defining the control level and communication level at business. The participation
of employees with their flexibility is identified with the same. Example: As city college has
adopted rigid structure which shows high level of control and inflexibilities in business, with this
communication aspects also got restricted. The autocratic leadership style was adopted to
manage, control and attain results by leaders. While enterprise has adopted flat structure to
enhance their effective leadership with creating measures to increase employee participation in
organisation thus communication aspects are open for company effectiveness (Glowinkowski,
2009).

In business individual behaviour contributes widely in the achievements and growth
level. Thus organisation concentrate more on manage individual behaviour for attainment of
desired goals and results in business. It also lead to employee efficiency and growth. Here are the
factors which are responsible to influence individual behaviour that are as follows:-
Personality: demographic factor that is age , gender , appearances indicates the
employees mental status and understandability which helps to develop positive growth
aspects on individual performances (Grant and Mayer, 2009).
Attitude: Attitude shows the level of employees interest towards the work allotment
which helps in analysing their participation and contribution level in the business.

some of the leadership style which are mention below:
Autocratic style: In this type of leadership, the leader itself take decisions without consulting
their team members. This method demoralize the employees and reduce their efficiency to make
creative decisions (Halbesleben and Bowler, 2007).
Democratic style: This style encourage the employees to think creative as it reach to the decision
with the considering of all staff members opinions. It makes group motivate and reduce turnover
at the organisation.
Laissez-faire: in this type of style the team members have full freedom to perform their task by
giving them authority to take decisions. They also provide support with resources and suggestion
to work effectively. This style lead to high satisfaction but it also make employees free from the
duties which become a negative for the business.
Thus city college and enterprise both uses democratic style to motivate their employees. As it
gives an positive impact on the employees and with this creativity to perform the functions in a
systematic manner is increase. it also help in arriving quickly on the decision making process.
While autocratic is the style which has not provide the great influences on the employees and
also make them demotivated to perform any job as they are not allow to take any decisions. With
laissez-faire, motivates the employees by the freedom but at the same time the professionalism is
also reduce as they take all decisions by themselves (Hoffmanet and et. al., 2007).

management (Dzimbiri, 2009). It is the study that shows the formal and interrelationship with the
environment. As organisation also deal with the various management practises in which henry
fayol has given 14 principles in which some are mention below:
Division of work: It is refers that employees are experts in different areas and they also
posses various skills to perform each task which leads to efficiency. City college
company has successfully adopted the division of work in their operations in order to
achieve the task.
Authority and responsibility:- To attain the desired result and getting things done
effectively. In organisation, management has an authority to give the orders to their
subordinates so that they perform their responsibilities properly. Enterprise company who
hires various employees with an responsibility to mange them properly by providing an
authority of decision making.
Remuneration:- the term remuneration leads to an employee motivation and satisfaction.
It includes two types monetary in which bonus incentives are used while in non monetary
include complements and credit system. Hence business use both types of remuneration
to motivate the employee.
Unity of command:- It refers that every employee should receive an orders from one
manger only. City college applied this principle in their organisation structure.
Discipline:- It is an core value for the organisation which create obediences among
interaction of employees. City college has not able to adopt good discipline in performing
their task (Bolino and et. al., 2013).

Organisation in management uses three different types of approaches which are classical
approach, neoclassical and modern approach. As these approaches are used by both the
companies which are city college and Enterprise rent a car (Grant and Mayer, 2009).
Classical approach:- classical approach is more concentrate on objectives, relationship,
roles and Communication. City college use the classical approach as they have a serious

Neoclassical:- neoclassical theory refers to as human relation school of thought that

concentrate on primary, physiological and social aspects of the employees. They mange
individuals and their colleagues in an effective manner by which individual motivate and
promote innovation so that every employee achieve individual and organisational goals.
Thus both the companies have choose different approaches towards the management and help
the employees to achieve the results (Becton, Giles and Schraeder, 2008).

Leadership has a great influences on the behaviour of staff at city college and enterprise
as it plays an central role in providing the directions and purpose towards achieving the goals of
an organisation. This also help in determine the structure of the group behaviour (Jain and
Cooper, 2012). Other than that There are various leadership styles that has affect the behaviour
of employees in both the companies which are as follows:
The leadership style helps, each employees enjoys a feeling of strong commitment
towards achieving the organisational goals.
It helps in making effective performances of an individual employees by providing the
positive work environment.
It provides the basis fro effective utilization of material resources in an company through
individual skills, knowledge and ability.
Through the leadership styles, employees get the guidances which help them to complete

City college company has adopt the maslow need hierarchy theory and enterprise follows
hertz-berg theory to motivate their employees. According to these theories human being have a
set of needs and these desires make them to fulfil. maslow theory contains five levels of human
needs which staff has a desire to satisfy then only they move to the next level. In this the initial
level need is to satisfy their basic needs before they fulfil the higher needs and then they move to
the next level. While in hertz-berg theory suggests that there are two basic needs which are
hygiene factors and motivational factors. it encouraged the leaders to study the job rather then
conditions of work (Halbesleben and Bowler, 2007).
With these motivational theories, has a same influences over the staff of both the companies. As
staff of both the organisation are encourage their members to work independently or in team in
the such a way to create the results . It is the desire of every staff to achieve the highest level in
the hierarchy in order to fulfil their personal needs. With the motivation, employees have an
develop friendly behaviour and also create a sense of belongingness towards the companies
goals. With this labour turnover is reduce and develop an understanding with the staff which
helps them to work with coordination and allow mutually attain the outcomes.

By using the motivational theories, both the companies i.e. city college and enterprise
mangers get various benefits which are manager can get good flow of communication in the
company through the motivation theory. With this manger does not require to put their extra
efforts in improving their performances (Fischer and Mansell, 2009).
By emphasis reward system over the employees help the manger to increase efficiency and
productivity of the workers. Moreover he is not require to give more attention to the staff as they
are already satisfy their basic goals . Manager motivate their subordinate is to say that they
perform those things which hope will satisfy these desires and compel the subordinate to perform

However to regulate the group behaviour, City college and Enterprise Rent A Car, should
analyse the aspects of formal and informal behaviour at workplace are discussed here:
Formal groups: These groups are incorporated to achieve some kind of specific and
predetermined objectives. A thriving structure of responsibilities and authorities should be
administered amongst team members. As City college is an educational institution, should follow
the formal group as the objectives of the social organisation is providing higher education. There
is theory derived known as Tuck man theory of group formalities defines various stages of group
formation which includes bringing employees together, developing a basic formal relation, etc.
