INTRODUCTION
Leadership can be define as art of motivating and inspiring a team of workers or
people to act towards achieving set goals of companies and gaining competitive advantages
for them. In a venture setting, this element can direct influence behaviour and performance of
applicants in effective manner. Leader is the main stakeholder who uses leadership and its
styles at workplace in order to foster productivity and performance level. It captures
importance of being capable and able to inspire others in ethical manner. This component is
base on ideas and creative thinking that are quite beneficial for growth and success of an
organization. The current study will be based on TESCO, which falls under category of
leading supermarkets in the United Kingdom. The chosen company is famous for its quality
products and effective services to target consumers.
It has currently operates successfully in 11 varied nations which has make firm able to
be competitive forever. It considered as one of the world’s biggest retailers, which bring a lot
of benefits for its venture in term of gaining attention of profitable investors. The goal of this
firm is to help its consumers to make their shopping happier and cost worthy. Its objective is
to become leading retail firm and cater excellent quality items as well as services to
customers at low cost so that supermarket can cheaper than its business rivals. The current
study will explain analysis based on management and leadership of chosen brand to order to
compare professional practices and theory. Furthermore, it will define leadership and
management impact in context of overall performance of firm. This report will describe
venture performance metrics as needed from large cross section of company performance
analysis. Moreover, this assignment will justify leadership & management performance by
conducting secondary and primary research.

Leadership refer to capacity of a firm’s leaders and administration to set and achieve
difficult aims, take decisive action when require, motivate others to work at greatest degree
he or she can and outperform competition (Zaccaro and et.al., 2018). It is setting and gaining
aims, handling competition and solving issues decisively and systematically. Some individual
like leader with strong and effective leadership style in a company like TESCO can boost
productivity level.

business practices as well as affairs of brands, irrespective of nature, size, type and culture
(Malinova and Mendling, 2018). This force can be recognize as act of developing and
organizing such a venture environment wherein board of member of a firm can work together
in order to achieve goals and set objectives in systematic manner.
TESCO has successfully managed its growth and boost success of its venture which
make firm able to give tough competition to its competitors like ASDA, Morrison’s,
Sainsbury etc. Including this thing, company has gain a lot of benefits in several terms, and
everything is possible of effective leadership and management styles that leader and manager
of chosen brand utilize.
Leaders of company adapt transformational style which is helpful and efficient style
of leadership. It is one of the most common and useful form because it allow a leader to boost
productivity of staff in term of increasing his or her motivational level even better.
Furthermore, it is a form in which each applicant in a team takes more participative role in
decision taking procedure. With this style leader can be more productive in form of boosting
motivation of each workers in term of encouraging them to share innovative ideas, creative
thoughts and opinions which is quite beneficial for company. The best thing about
transformational leaderships style as compare to democratic that manager adopts is that is
treats workers as key part of firm and considers his or her opinions without making any kind
of differences between male and female applicants. It allow leader to treat their employees in
respectful manner in term of providing fair and equal change to grow and appreciate base on
work performance (Nielsen and et.al., 2019). Because of this style leaders can allow workers
to feel supported by top authority site, so he or she can work hard and even better as well as
permit them to stay with chosen brand for longer period of time. It can be analysed that
transformational leadership style, make leader able to stand out in his or her capability and
ability to successfully & quickly examine current condition of business and its working
environment at workplace. It strengthen leader ability in term of increasing is communication
capability more influencing.
Furthermore, TESCO management like leaders also adapt specific administration
style in order to enhance performance and productivity of business even better than other
companies, who has operated in retail industry with skilled people. It has been analysed that

which in return motivate people and encourage to achieve common goal on time in
systematic manner. It can be examined that participative management style create innovative
environment at workplace and reduce gap between manager and staff in ethical manner

style allows manager to obtain desire outcome in form of increasing productivity of TESCO
and improving job satisfaction as well as morale of their workers. It can also lead to

Discussion: From the above primary research it has been interpreted that leader of Tesco
involve the employees into decision making process and that is why, majority of the
respondents are highly agree with the statement. Moreover, it is also analysed that leadership
play a direct impact upon the business performance such that most of the employees are
highly agreed with the statement. For example, leader of the Tesco keep encouraging
employees in order to involve in the decision making process and also provide effective
training to them in order to improve the overall performance of the company.
Moreover, there is a direct relationship between the leadership and management to the
business performance such that if leader adopted autocratic leadership style then they did not
involve employees within decision making process. That is why, it is stated that company’s
performance is highly affected with the leadership style. As manager and leader of the
company keep developing strategy and policies to engage employee and that is why, it affect
the business in positive manner (Golensky and Hager, 2020). Apart from this, secondary
study also examined that participatory of leadership and delegation of duties also enhance the
employee performance and attainment of corporate goals and objectives.
In addition to this, management directly influence the employees they manages and
they also carry the responsibility for aligning the performance of their department in order to
attain the define goals. Thus, it is examine that there is a positive relationship between
employee performance and management. This is also examine while conducting the primary
research because more than 50% of the respondents are highly agree that leader of Tesco

develop strategies which in turn assist to improve the performance of employees. Also, there
are various advantage which the firm get by having a strong leadership such that improve the
brand image of the company, sustain the brand image and improve overall business
performance in positive manner (Hammad,Samier and Mohammed, 2020). Hence, there is a
positive impact upon both variable and it affects the performance as well.
It can be assess that leadership put positive impact on overall performance of TESCO
in term of increasing productivity level and performance of existing workers and new as well.
It brings a lot of benefits for company in form of strengthen business performance and ability
to deal with challenge while operating venture at global level (Tafvelin and et.al., 2019).
Leadership can be considered as most influencing factor that increase sales and profits
margin. Furthermore, it can be analysed that this component can improve ability of leader and
workers to succeed under high pressure and challenging situation. On the other hand, it
assures that leader can provide its workers with key assets and training which they need is not
a productive act. It leads to bad outcome when leader could not use his or her style in
appropriate manner.
Furthermore, along with leadership, management also put impact on entire
performance of companies like TESCO. It affect in positive manner when manager by using
his or her management style develop growth plans and strategies for workers in ethical
manner without making differences between existing and new workers (Yiu and et.al., 2019).
Management put positive impact by creating effective plans, managing functions and
controlling employees act and performance in systematic manner. On the other side,
management put negative impact on performance of company by making plans without
conducting situational analysis as well as workplace. Poor planning can lead to decrease
performance of firm which in return directly impact sales and profitability of TESCO. For
example, when manager develop plan without considering needs of staff it impact
performance of worker which turn into decrease business performance as well in negative
manner.
CONCLUSION
By summing up above discussion, it has been concluded that Transformational
leadership style and participative management has provide range of benefits to TESCO as
these two elements has successfully increased productivity and profitability level of business
while being operated in retail industry. It has been identified that by using right leadership

style, leader has effectively increased productivity of its workers which turn into maximize
profitability of company which is really very beneficial in term of gaining competitive
benefits and advantages as well. From above analysis, it has been determined that both terms
increased performance of chosen brand which in return strengthen its ability to sustain within
competitive environment. Moreover, it has been summarized that by using benchmarking and
Day sales outstanding, TESCO management and leaders as effectively and successfully
improve its decision making procedure and business practices as well as procedure in positive
manner. Organization by using range of approaches and methods in term of key performance
metrics like benchmarking which enable them to compares performance and act of another
brand with own. Furthermore, by conducting secondary and primary research and using
approach important data about leadership and management impact has been gathered.
