INTRODUCTION
Positive leaders build on negativity to create new positive outcomes. The concept of
positive leader was introduced by Kim Cameron and according to Cameron positive leader have
an affirmative bias and they should focus on capabilities and strength and on confirm the heights
of human potential. The PPT is based on positive leader characteristics of police officer. This
presentation will evaluate the most suitable strategy that a positive leader can use to improve the
productivity and well-being of employee i.e. police officer. The presentation will also analyse
various type of skill development exercise and with the help of the strategy the impact of each
strategy will demonstrate.
Leader
Positive leadership can be define as a pattern of behaviour of leader that promotes both positive
ethical environment and positive psychological capacities. The main purpose is to foster self-
awareness, internalized moral perspective, to balance information and communication process,
enhancing self-development. The main task of police officer is to protect the citizens and
maintain law and maintain order in society. Police officer must possess leadership skills that
allows them to connect with the wide range of demographic level and dedicated to serving the
public.
Characteristic of a positive leader (Police officer)
A positive police leader should have leadership quality that lead them to do their job and
serve local community effectively. It is essential for effective leader to delegate the responsibility
and honest and motivate the subordinates and encouraging new ideas to the agency. The main
department of police officer of USA, Malta and Australia are; Criminal investigation department,
drug squad, etc.
Good communicator and motivator
Police leader must lead the entire workforce and agency and in order to effectively
inspire people to follow, they must understand their demographic community. Effective leader
should relate to the local public of all generation and understand various approach and strategies
to motivate them. They can set clear goals and praise and rewards other on achieving the task.
For the successful and effective leader as police officer they also need to keep the information
transparent and being honest with the subordinates and with the local public.

The communication characteristic is very essential in police officer of USA, Australia
and Malta to being a positive leader they should listen and able to convey his, that lead them to
motivate and influence people efficiently. Police officer should reward local public on their
effort on helping the law enforcement that encourage them to being more active and helpful and
that build a positive relation between local community and police officers.
As well as being a good communicator help them to investigate effectively and for strong
command over others.
Strategy that a positive leader can use to improve the productivity and well being
Productivity and Well being of police officer depends on the management and it captures
how they feel about the organisational process that improve their work performance and
engagement. Organisational support from management help the police officers to improve their
productivity and well being, commitment and turnover intentions. There are various strategies
that can be use by positive leader to improve their productivity and well-being:
ď‚· Perceived organisational support strategy- POS is the degree to which police officers
believe that their organisation value their contribution and cares about their well being.
This strategy thought to be workplace's contribution to a positive relation with
subordinates. According to this strategy, when police officer have high POS it means
they perceived that workplace or organisational management appreciated their
contribution and care about their well being.
ď‚· POS incorporates the employee's belief that appreciation is expressed through job
enrichment, payment, etc. that encourage them to bring more improvement in their
working pattern.
ď‚· POS can be adopted by a positive leader to enhance the work performance, productivity
and psychological well-being. Along with that, PsyCap fully mediates the relationship

ď‚· POS help the leader to meet its socio emotional needs and it increases their work effort. If
positive leader have high psychological well-being that result in effective work
performance and enhance their productivity. Employees well-being is linked to desirable

Skills can be understand as the ability and capacity acquired through systematic,
deliberate and sustained effort to adaptively and smoothly carry out complex activity or job
functions including cognitive skills, interpersonal skills and technical skills. There are various
type of skill development exercise that can be practised by leader to improve well-being and
productivity by implementing POS strategy.
ď‚· Training- Training help the leader to develop various skills such as; technical skills,
interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence. From training programs and practises skills
related to implementing POS strategy that help the leader to enhancing work performance
and productivity of police officer within the organisation. Training include; activities,
seminars and various programs related that enhance the skills of police officer to being a
positive leader. Training programmes have impact on the strategy in positive manner and
it help the leader to implement the strategy in the organisation.
ď‚· Self-efficacy- Self-efficacy is an individual belief to their strength to achieve goal. Police
officer who have Self-efficacy that promote greater effort and performance within the
organisation and in the public. Self-efficacious people believe in their abilities to
mobilize the motivation, cognitive resources and successfully perform their task within
the organisation. It can be develop with various exercise such as; implementing
motivating seminars in the organisation and motivate people to achieve the organisational
goal, understanding own strength and capabilities, etc.
Self-efficacy make a great impact on implementing POS strategy that allow the leader to increase
job-enrichment that improve their productivity and well being in the organisation and towards
their responsibility to serve local public.
ď‚· Communication skills development exercise activities lead to successful outcomes and
motivate employees within the organisation. It can be practise by the positive leader by
listen carefully what its employees and local public are saying and developing
communication skill lead them to convey and motivate people to being more responsible
towards their work and their participation the law enforcement. With the use of
communication skills leader can understand psychological stage of the local public and
its subordinates. Leader can develop this skill by task and activities that foster his critical
thinking. More practises include; They can engage with the employees and audience.

Exercise of developing communication skills make POS strategy more powerful and
effective
ď‚· Being empathy- For improving productivity and well-being of the employee it is
essential for the leader to being empathy and leader can being emphatic by understanding
employees and local public needs and their issues and resolve them efficiently. It can be
developed by putting others objective and need before organisation's and need to being
profitable.
A successful and positive police leader should take care of the local public and ensure their
security and for successful implementation of POS strategy in the organisation, being empathy is
essential that allow leader to meet socio-emotional needs of its employee that impact positively
on the productivity and enhance well being of the employees.
Following exercises make impact on the strategy of improving productivity and well being,
where the training program improve the technical skill, soft skills, etc. That help police officer to
make effective strategy and take decisions in critical situations.
The practise allow police officer to convey effectively to the local public and their subordinates
and control the command on others.
Exercise of being empathy allow leader to understand and put citizens or local public's need over
his profitable need or organisational need and it makes impact on the strategy and make it
successful to improve productivity, work performance and well-being of employees.
CONCLUSION
From the above study it has been concluded that a leader should be positive and Police
officer should being a good and positive lead that can convey and lead the local community and
ensure to serve them effective services. It also has been analysed that there are various leadership
skills are important in positive leader but to being a good communicator and motivator is major
skill that is needed in the police officer to being a positive leader. The study has been concluded
that productivity and well being can be improved by POS strategy that is perceived
organisational support strategy. Lastly PPT had been analysed that necessary skills can be
developed by various exercises and practise such as; training, self-efficacy, programs that
enhance communication skills, etc. and their impact on the strategy.
