3LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT
Introduction
Leadership and management are the most important parameters that run an
organisation’s operational functioning. With reference to the development and innovation in
operational functioning of Le Prestige Hotel, the report intends to add on the proposed
innovative strategies with the use of iPads and evaluate the strategy effectiveness. The report
shall also focus on developing the action plan of the innovations and process the official steps
to achieve the position.
Task 1: Adding ideas
The advantages and disadvantages of introducing use of tablets in restaurants are
many. With the innovative strategy to be implemented in operations of Le Prestige, the use of
iPads in creating better serviceability as per the research and scopes identified. However, the
online booking systems have equal pros and cons. amongst many of the advantages, one
significant benefit is convenience and visual attractiveness. Customers prefer info-graphic
systems more than just imagining a certain dish in mind while ordering. Convenience is
created both for the customers as well as the waiters that eventually reduces the risk of flaws
in taking orders or mixing it with someone else’s. The use of online ordering system is more
prevalent in ordering for home delivery services and that is found to be popular with the
introduction of food ordering web application software.
The advantage is reflected by means of enhanced working system of the restaurant
employees that is a more systematic and structured approach. The employees are confronting
a less puzzled system that easily let the order makers know what the customer is demanding.
It often becomes a problem for the waiter to explain how a dish looks like or what the
ingredients of the delicacy are. Hence, customers can visualise the delicacy contents and
customise their orders as per choice.

4LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT
With reference to the disadvantage of using the online food ordering system in the
restaurant, the most noted fact is inefficacy of the employees to handle the systems as well as
customers’ inability to maintain the systems (Amanchukwu et al. 2015). It often happens
when there are children or some mishandled behaviour is observed from customer end. At
primary stage, the use of iPad can increase the popularity of a place with the notion in mind
of customers that they will be confronting something new and user friendly. IPad is an
expensive device and have complications to usage if not learnt properly. Hence, the
appropriateness of employees being trained is important and inefficiency to deal with
technological aspects can ill-repute the organisational functions and prestige (Boin, Stern &
Sundelius, 2016).
Task 2: Discussing innovation
As per the records of innovations listed, two innovations are chosen. The
implementation of the use of iPad is common in every in every innovation. The two chosen
innovations were use of iPads for waiter and collecting feedback from customers after the
service is delivered to the customers. Amongst two of the significant ideologies, the first one
is chosen that seems to be more appealing to be implemented and can attract customers’
attention quite a lot.
With discussion to Laura and Benjamin, the innovative waitress and the creative head
chef, the significance of expanding the topic is taken for further evaluation. Primarily, the
reason of choosing these two persons for the discussion in based on their capability and
creative thinking that can help with new ideas of policy making and implementation
accordingly. The notches of attraction is known by both of them and hence, can help in
developing a better system.
The role play is conducted between five persons:

Jennifer: Good afternoon dears. We have summoned the meeting to discuss with you
about one major operational change that has been suggested by our service
development team and we think it would be better to discuss it with you to
get further suggestions.
Laura: Great to hear that.
Benjamin: Absolutely. I am eager to know it as well.
Louis: So, here the company has come across with the need of innovating our
working styles. We are more into developing the presentation of working
and making it easier for the waiters as well as our chefs being more
convenient with food order taking styles. We have thought of using iPads to
take orders from customers and that can reduce the work load or chances of
error for customers to take orders. It often happens that you people find it
difficult to read the hand written order notes and miscommunication has led
to delivering products to other tables.
Laura: We surely had faced this problem earlier.
Benjamin: Same here. Reading scripts and scribbles really requires some extra effort.
Digitalising the system can benefit us in good terms.
Manager: Absolutely. In order to increase working efficiency, we have chosen this
idea. Now you say how we should begin with as there are requirement of
training the waiters and waitresses regarding the uses of iPads.
Laura: I feel we should be trained regarding the process on partial teams. As it is
not possible to train the entire team at once and especially the operations
hours.
Benjamin: But a basic briefing is required for all at once.
Jennifer: We are trying to engage every staff of the company at least together for
