TASK 2
2.1 Describe the two leaders you interviewed from the Public Health industry. Explain their roles
and responsibilities.
Public health industry is includes range of companies that provide services to public.
Through this process they can easily spread awareness about various disease and problems that
faces by individual person. In this process a interview program is conducted for two leaders as
health minister and health secretary as -
Interview with Health minister (Jeremy Hunt) – An interview program was conduct to
analyse different kind of information about health industry and its initiative. As per some
question they provide specific information about NHS program that conduct to spread different
kind of information that can be useful for individual person. At some question about public
health professional, they said that, they both are working as important element of NHS who
analyse information about specific topic that needs to be initiate publicly (Henderson and
Thornicroft, 2013). The key responsibility of health minister of UK is to frame policies relating
to healthcare which assist government is resolving major problems like affordable healthcare
services (Dimaggio, 2013). He has to play a significant role in the programmes which basically
focus on improving the quality of healthcare service by using latest technology.
Interview with CEO of NHS (Simon Stevens) – In interview program some questions
are asked on public health issues and these are what can be done to analyse difference between
mental and physical health problem? NHS is biggest healthcare organisation of UK and as a the
CEO of this organisation, main responsibility of Simon Stevens is to check that whether all the
division of NHS are accomplishing their responsibilities and increase number of hospitals in
order to make quality service available at more locations (Bjegovic-Mikanovic and et. al., 2013).

2.2 Responses that received in two interviews
Interview with Jeremy Hunt was very productive. He is a man with an aggressive vision
and he understand that focusing on research and development is very important for ensuring
quality services to the public. At the same time, he is also optimistic about technology and he
want to bring radical changes in both cities and villages by using latest technology of providing
effective healthcare service. Simon Stevens, the CEO of NHS, is mainly focusing on executing
the policies which is made by government. By talking with him, one thing was very clear that he
is basically interested in signing deals with NGOs and other care-home because he feels that
NHS cannot provide fine services without taking support of others. They have limited
technology and signing deals with those organisation who have latest technology will be
beneficial for them and their public also (Stuckler, Basu and Suhrcke, 2010).
2.3 Critique the responses of the two interviews by applying what you have learned so far about
Leadership theories
According to Brassolotto and Baldeo, (2014) leadership is a core process that needs to be
done through effective manner to provide guideline and direction to employees in effective
manner. Through this an organisation can easily attain their core objectives and goals effectively.
As per those interview it is determine that manager and leader of health care sector can help to
analyse information related to different kind of program and initiative that needs to be done for
public health. Leadership have capability and quality to build belief and reliance factor amongst
their different members as well.
By taking interview of CEO of NHS, the main thing which I learn is that he is a person
who has a domestic leadership style. He take views of others at the time of making decision and
he keep with in other organisation who are not part of NHS. This means that he domestic impose
any work on anybody and listen to the advice which is given by other people (Frenk and et. al.,
2010). On the other hand, Jeremy Hunt taught me that situational leadership is most important
type of leadership is this swiftly changing world. He knew that sometime he has to take advice
from other in order to make right decision but sometime a leader has to make a call without
involving anyone specially at the time of making tuff decision which is generally not liked by
public in short period of time.

TASK 3
3.1 Leadership Skills Inventory in Northouse
Leadership is a approach that needs to be done to provide motivation and directing and
toe employee in effective manner. These leadership style is very different to each other and these
are related to different situation. There are different leadership approaches are given below -
Skills theory – This theory is related to different kind of skills that a person have.
Through this process they serve different services to their employees (Bongar and Sullivan,
2013). As per this above interview, it is analyse that a person need to enhance their skills and
working approaches in effective manner that increase their working ability for health care
sectors. These sectors are known as services areas that require specific skill in a person.
Situational theory - According to this situation all the person serve various services
according to different kind of situation. So for this it is require that leaders provide their services
in an organisation according to different situations. As per this above interviews, it is analyse
that a leader needs to serve their effective services according to different situations. In health
care sector individuals requires to react on different situations according to its demand and need.
Trait theory – According to me this theory is useful for those person who believe that
leadership can not earn this is a unique quality that a person earn by their birth. These leadership
theories can easily build complexity between trained leaders. As for this a person who serve their
different services needs to analyse their skills timely to getting innovative ideas fro different kind
of treatment and situations. As per the interview of health secretary it is is require that a person
analyse all condition be their personal and practical situations. Through this, they can easily on
them in effective manner
3.2 Results against Rowitz’s Public Health Leadership Principles
Rowitz’s Public Health Leadership is a well known book in which different kind of
principles of leadership are determine. Principle of those leadership skill re related to different
kinds of department that needs specific style to solve various issue and problems easily. Through
this a person can easily understand ethical values and importance of those terms that needs to be
directed inn appropriate manner (Bongar and Sullivan, 2013). Rowitz’s Public Health Leadership
Principles is focuses on three main areas, organisational values, HR systems and organisational
structural job design. From the assessment, it can be analysed that both leaders are serious about
6
Document Page
organisational values and structure but they are not focusing on HR system which is also very
important. Both leaders are working in the field of continuous improvement but they main
concentration is on technology and making alliances. HR system is an important part of Rowitz’s
Public Health Leadership but both leaders are ignoring it. This can be considered as the basic
difference between both of them (Baum, 2016). My assesses shows that both leaders have have
different leadership style but it fit according to the present situation. But, at the same time, both
of leadership style are failing to focus on Human resource.
3.3 Strengths, based on your analysis.
As per my analysis, it is analyse that leaders and manager in different kind of
organisation as are play most important role to provide effective direction and guideline. In
public health care sector, they both are help to build effective program which is initiated for
public and social health awareness. Strength of this research is based on different kind of
initiative and program which is help to provide awareness and welfare terms easily. From the
above analysis, I can ensure that I have good communication skills and this is the prime reason
that I convinced both leaders for having a lengthy conversation with me.
3.4 Identify areas that needs would like to improve, based on your analysis
In an organisation and program lots of changes are needed that are based on public and
government demand. NHS is a well known organisation and for them it is very important to
analyse each and every situation effectively and provide appropriate direction easily. For this I
analyse that leadership a area that needs to be enhance in exact manner to provide effective
guideline to others. Through this a person can enhance quality and approaches of each
individual. One of the area where I can improve in analytical skills. I fail to analyse their
thinking and theories. I asked some questions to them but did not get proper answer. I fell that
this mistake happened because of lack of analytical skills.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been summarised that manager and leaders are professional
personalities of an firm and organisation who build effectiveness to getting competitive
advantages easily. This project report is based on two different leaders who provide theirs ideas
and thoughts effectively for different kind of terms. This report determine role and responsibility
of a leader and manager, how these are different in the Public Health industry, interviewed of
