INTRODUCTION
Working is an effective process in each and every individual's life style. Each and every
organisation wants a talented and skilled candidate for their workplaces and they look for those
person who has the capability to work hard and show their key skills and attitude to achieve the set
target and long term goals as well. In addition to this, Tesco is the biggest leading private sector
stated in UK. The company has more than 360,000 employees at world wide. Company wants to
develop a core team who can perform at high standards to achieve the set target goals of the firm.
For that particular case, company wants to recruit and select best candidate for their workplace to
improve operational effectiveness and productivity as well(Ang, 2012). As per the stated scenario,
this report will structured in the way of preparing documentation for recruitment and selection then
analyse the impact of government rules and regulations on selection and recruitment process.
Moreover, this report consist the comparison process of leadership and management theories or
assess the benefits of team working in Tesco organisation. Furthermore this report include the
procedure of planning and monitoring and analyse the working performance of the each employees.
General manager of firm has the responsibility to recruit best candidate for their firm because
skilled candidate has the capability to give their best to the organisation to achieve the set target in
the company and plays a vital role in achieving the success(Chaneta, 2014). In addition to this,
manager adopts motivational and leadership theory to motivate and direct their staff member in
right direction to move forward to the way of success. General manager has the responsibility to
plan the effective strategy to achieve the small target of the firm on priority basis and then move
forward for achieving long term goals as well. Apart from this, firm apply various tools and
techniques for measuring the performance of their employees and also arrange the effective training
program to improve the working performance of them and increment of the key skills and
knowledge as well. Tesco needs workforce planning to analyse the needs of firm as well as the
employees. Company needs to develop effective plan and strategy for improving the financial
condition and performance of the firm on the basis of world wide. To improve the performance of
each employee firm needs to arrange the trainings and seminars for increase their key skills and
knowledge regarding the work(Czabanowska and et.al., 2014). This report analyse all the key
factors, which applied by the firm to improve their performance and increase the growth rate and
production rate on great extent. In addition to this, arranging a core team for reach the set target
goals company needs to develop a effective plan and arrange meetings to recruit best candidates
with higher key skills and knowledge as well. Team working is very effective approach to achieve

success in compare with other sectors. For recruit a new staff member, firm look for the best

manager needs to plan effective documentation so that candidate have an idea that what are the
requirements and needs of the company as well(Fraley and et.al., 2011). Job description is a

employees(Gwyer, 2010). This act also gives the relief that if employee found any type of

recruitment. These type of acts has the great impact on the processing of recruitment. Government
set the rules and regulation to avoid any type of discrimination in the society. Government says that
any type of discrimination would not be tolerable in an organisation, on the basis of age, sex, race,
religion, nationality, colour or more. General manager of the Tesco plan the strategy to select the
best candidate and make sure that they treat each employee on equal basis and provide equal
opportunities as well(Heath, 2012). Apart from the rules and regulations of the government,
diversity also has the great impact on recruitment and selection process. In addition to this, Tesco
spread their business on the basis of world wide and select the candidates from different nations as
well(Ang, 2012).

There are several parts which affect the selection process and has an effective impact on the
growth rate of the firm. General manager took an effective part in recruitment and selection process
of candidates(Chaneta, 2014). First of all, it includes identifying the hiring needs, develop the
position description, planning the recruitment process, conduct good efforts in recruitment process.
The role of General manager in recruitment and selection process is that they plan an effective
strategy which is very important to select the best candidate for their firm and give best outcomes as
well. Moreover, their role is to provide the guidance and direction to the new recruited candidates
and improve their key skills and knowledge as well. They also arrange the training and development
session for improvement of the performance of organisation on world basis.

General manager has an effective role and contribution in recruitment and selection process
as well. He plays a active role to organizing the selection and recruitment process and interview
process as well. As a general manager I perform the task which is affected the selection and
recruitment process:
Majorly take an effective part to organize the recruitment process and plan the strategies
accordingly. Develop the objectives and help to improve process on better way. Plan that
type of strategy which indirectly helps the organisation to improve their growth rate and
production(Nabi and et.al., 2014).
Manager has an important role in developing the framework in which they set the data of
recruitment. By this process, each and every candidate must be suited for that selected data
and fitted in their own individual roles as well.

Being a general manager in Tesco, I know my responsibility and capability like how to
manage the people and recruit them on the basis of their key skills and knowledge as well. In
addition to this, recruitment and selection is the major procedure of an organisation and manager
plays a vital role in that particular procedure. I take the responsibility to provide all information
related to the recruitment and selection to HR department of the firm and make sure that all process
will be going in good direction.

In each and every organisation either public or private, skills and attributes are must for
leadership styles and theories as well(O'Sullivan, Moneypenny and McKimm, 2015). The skills and
attributes determine the capabilities of a leader like how they lead their team and what are the
possible impact of their leadership techniques as well. The following skills and attributes are
present the capabilities of a leader and these are given below: Honesty: This is the most effective quality that a leader must occupy to proceed in right
direction to lead the people. A core team want a perfect and Honest leader to lead their team
and give the effective outcome for betterment of the firm. A honest leader automatically gain
the trust from their team members because of their honest nature and friendly nature as well.
Because without trust a leader can not direct their team in right direction and loose their trust
and support also(Offstein, Morwick and Koskinen, 2010). Communication: A leader must have considerable communication skills so because of that
he direct his team in right direction and operate his team in an efficient manner. Confidence: Confidence is a most important factor that improve the personality of leader as
well as their team members. A leader has the power of encourage their team members and
increase their confidence as well. At tough time like managing the team and their task
allotment or more things, leader has to show the confidence so that team members feel
encouraged and do their work with full of energy.

Positivity: Positivity is must required quality to improve the performance of a leader and has
the effective impact on team member's performance as well. Leader should be self-
motivated so that he direct his team members in right direction and positive way in order to
achieve the success and set targets(Pritchard and Bloomfield, 2013).

Leadership and managerial skills are differentiate on the basis of quality, performance, key
skills, attributes, attitudes or more. A leader has the rights to generate a particular idea and the
whole team has to be required to follow that particular idea whereas manager has the job of
monitoring and to see that idea should be followed properly or not. The basic difference in between
leader and manager is that leader generate an effective idea whereas manager plays a vital role to
implement that particular idea. Different managers have their different role to achieve the target
goals of the company whereas leaders has the responsibility to generate that idea which is totally
responsible for the growth and improvement of the organisation. Leader imply the new styles and
ideas for manage the team members and their task and manager follows the effective approach to
manage the workforce of the firm(Taylor, 2014).

relations and increase the capability of team members as well. This style improves the
ability of leader at very great extent(Winn, 2013).

and improve the all problems which is faced by the company day by day. Leads to innovation: Innovation is a great need in an organisation to solve the problems and
improve the performance of an organisation as well.
Increase in efficiency: Team working is the better approach to increase the efficiency of
each individual member of the team. Because in this particular process each individual
focuses on their own task and make sure that their work is more better in compare with
others. For that competition, this process indirectly increase the efficiency of each
individual.

According to the studies, there are several types of conflicts arises in a teams and to manage
that type of conflicts general manager has to be apply the team work theories to overcome these

Tuckman's team working theory is well suited in this particular case. In addition to this,
general manager apply that theory to reduce the conflicts and it includes Forming, Storming,
Norming, Performing. Forming is states that each individual member of the team find their
own place and storming states that team member see themselves as a part of their own team
and work efficiently. Norming states that at this stage people start to come together and
share their idea and performing is the final stage where each individual work on the basis of
their ideas and thoughts.
General manager has the responsibility in which he find the issue that why conflict is start
and what are the solution applied to reduce that conflicts.
