MANAGEMENT 2
Introduction
Leadership is the individual or groups of individual’s ability, which influence and
supports the members or the employees in the Organization. ‘Leadership’ is the quality of the
leader, which includes effective communication, awareness, honesty, integrity, innovative
ideas and skills (Witzel, 2012). In addition, the responsibilities of the leaders are to provide
directions, give inspiration and guidance to the employees in the organisation as it is the part
of effective leadership (Havard Business School , 2019).
Definition of Leadership
Leadership deliberate about the vision, direction, and ideas of the companies, which
are executed for acquiring the better growth in business performance by inspiring the
organisational people like the direction and goals of the company are implemented for day-
to-day activities (Bennis, 2009).
Leadership is very important in management at all levels of the organisation. While
“Self-reflection” is defined as, the significant tool helps in the cultivation of on the job
learning situations as reflection is the critical aspects of understanding and learning the
organisational environment (Leadership thoughts, 2019).
In this report, there is a description of my growth or journey in the organisation and to
do this, there is the analysis and evaluation of the leadership reflection. There is an
explanation of the ways through which the reflection is defined. The impact of leadership
style on me and the other people around me is also mentioned in this report. In addition, this
report has the description of the other experiences that contain my thoughts, ideas and views
of leading and leadership have emerged or remained constant at the time of organisational

restructure, change of Manager, important changes that can affect the employer or my
employment or my life’s circumstances.
Leadership Reflection
Leadership Reflection is defined as the way of impeding the work of leading as the
leader or leading owns life with excellence and mastery (Herington, 2008). The focus of
reflective leadership is to learn to be presentable, having awareness and to be attentive in the
organisation (Forbes , 2019). In addition, leadership reflection is a kind of leadership style
includes self-awareness and self-reflection.
Analysis and Evaluation
During the cases, I have noted some of the important points, which helped me to
improve my leadership skills, then I realised that it is very important for me to know my
strengths and weaknesses (Meyer, 2016). I also evaluate the values and behaviours, which
influence others. By keeping these points in my mind, I can become a good leader or the
follower and this will improve my leadership’s skills (Witzel, 2012).
Leadership Reflection is the most important concept for me as it has changed my life
in a positive manner. It is not only influenced me, but also the people around me had a greater
impact on themselves because of this concept (Bartleby, 2019). According to me, the
leadership evolves the career of the people as it guides them, how to lead or follow the
leaders in the organisation. In this report, I will discuss the three revelations, which helps in
shaping you to approach and understand the idea of leadership through leadership reflection
(Farrell, 2017). In addition, let me explain this with the help of an example:
When I was in high school I use to work at cafes for the part-time, that cafe owner is my
friend. While I was working in the cafe, the manager caught with an accident and he had

taken the leaves for 10 days. My friend is out of town at that time and there was nobody who
can manage the cafe staff and the other functions of the managers. Therefore, my friend
wants me to handle the cafe at that time. As he was my good friend, I agreed to take charge of
the cafe in the absence of the manager. I was responsible for organising and leading the cafe
staff. Many problems had arrived when I was leading the staff, sometimes they do not even
follow my instructions and it had become very much difficult for me to develop effective
leadership (Leadership Circle , 2019). Then I use the refection as a tool, which helps me in
understanding the concept of on the job learning. Under leadership reflection, I start
evaluating my performance, which helps me in developing my strength and in removing my
weaknesses. This concept helps me in managing my work and leading the staff effectively.
As per the situations, I realized three revelations, which helps you to understand what
leadership is and what is not.
The first revelation is “leadership is not just a position”
When I was handling the cafe on the behalf of the manager, then I realized that
leadership is not just a position for anyone, as a leader, I was not only responsible for my own
work, but I was also responsible for the employees and staff under my leadership in the cafe.
This incident helps me in reflecting my own personal development by learning the concept of
leadership reflection (Medium , 2019).
The second revelation is “Leadership enhances with the interpersonal
relationship”
The interpersonal relationship building plays an important role in enhancing leadership
skills. When I want to communicate with the staff or the client in the cafe, I had developed
the ability to deliver my words to them in that manner which was in clear and specified way
so that they able to understand follow my instruction in the proper manner. It was only

MANAGEMENT 5
possible because I build up the interpersonal relationships with them under my leadership
(ITM , 2019).
The third revelation is “Leadership enhances the sense of teamwork”
When I was leading the staff of the cafe then I realize that effective leadership helps in
enhancing the sense of teamwork, as he is the only person who motivates the employees to
work together to achieve the target and aim of the organisation. Therefore, I used to
encourage the staff members to work together and because of this, the staff member starts
supporting each other in an efficient manner. Hence, leadership skills are very important to
understand the sense of teamwork, which will help in organisational growth (Mind Tools,
2019).
Observations
The above revelation will help me to understand the way in which the refection is
defined. As I have learned, through various sources, that leadership is a critical task and for a
successful career, it is very important for me to have the quality and skills of leadership. This
can be done with the help of leadership reflection as it helps me in understanding my
capabilities as a leader (Daniel Boase-Jelinek, 2014).
However, if I want to learn the concept of leadership reflection, it is very important for
me to understand this concept in an effective manner. Hence, to learn the leadership
effectively, it is very important to understand that, which leadership style I have to acquire in
this kind of situation and their impact on me and on the other people around me (Corporate
Finance Institution, 2019). The explanations of these acquired leadership styles and their
implications are as follows:

MANAGEMENT 6
Acquired Leadership Style
The two acquired leadership styles, which can be acquired by me in the above
discussion is as follows:-
A. Participative leadership Style
Participative leadership Style specifies that I have to take the responsibilities of the staff
working under mine supervision and should inspire them to participate actively in day-to-day
activities. As a leader, I am counted under this category and my duty is to always appreciate
the participation and the contribution of the other group members (Psychologia, 2019)
working under me as my follower. In addition, in this leadership style, I have given the
follower freedom of taking decisions in an appropriate manner (Leadership Central , 2019).
The impact of leadership style might be negative or positive on us as some of the
members can take the advantage of freedom while some of them will work and create the
innovative ideas in this type of leadership style. Hence, to reduce the negative impact of this
lenient style I should give punishments to the people, who are ethically wrong.
B. Supportive Leadership Style
Supportive Leadership is the leadership style developed for organisations. Between the
period of the 1970s and 1980s, management styles and become a complex manner and then
this theory developed in the organization, which states that the leader should always support
the followers of him in the organisation (Corporate Finance Institution, 2019). This style
might also acquire by me, as the supportive leaders I will always support and motivate the
positive actions of the staff in the restaurant. In addition, I will always help them to do the
work in an efficient and effective manner. The impact of this leadership style on me and staff

will definitely beneficial for us as if I will support them, then in return, they will support me
by doing their work with appropriate focus.
The implication of acquired Leadership Styles
We have learned that the acquired leadership styles will help me in adapting the concept
of effective leadership, as it is the process of reflective leadership. This learning will help me
to have a better career in my fields as I will get the proper knowledge of it. Moreover,
leadership styles and their impact on me, community, society and the organisation helps us in
understanding the various aspects of leadership styles used as per the requirement.
The acquired Leadership Styles has changed mine perception about Leadership and I will
explain these implications in the following points:-
Behavioural Skills Implication
The acquired leadership style implications have changed my behavioural skills. Both the
acquired leadership have made me follow the effective characteristics of a good leader, which
are the leader with the good character, friendliness behaviour of the leader, maturity in the
nature of the leader and enhancement of common sense as a leader. This is the myth that
without practising you can become a good and smart leader (O'Keefe, 2017). It is important
that these behavioural skills must be learned and practised by me. Hence, the acquired
leadership not only changed my views about leadership, in fact, but it also helps me in
finding the difference between what leadership really is.
Situational Implications
The acquired leadership style practised by me is greatly influenced by the performances
and productions done by the staff at the restaurant. The situations at the time of my leadership
encourage me to be more flexible, which helps me in learning the importance of the acquired

MANAGEMENT 8
leadership style based on the situation. These acquired leadership styles definitely help me in
achieving effective results in future.
Newly Integration adopted by me
After leaning the importance of Leadership from my personal experience, newly
integrations have been adopted by me, which are as follows
a. Leadership and Values
The values orientation in leadership is important guidelines and principles in our day-
to-day lives. Therefore, my leadership skills will always be implemented as per the core
values required as a good leader. These values guide and facilitate me and emerged a
positive attitude in my leadership skills. Moreover, these values help me in developing the
qualities of effective leadership. To maintain and sustain the leadership qualities in me, it is
my responsibility to focus on what my follower believes and what values enhance their work.
In addition, these values help me throughout the different stages of my life (Leaders Value,
2019).
b. Leadership and Ethics
The ethics in my leadership skills help me in understanding that kind of leadership,
which will help me in directing the follower ethically. To learn the ethical leadership it is
important for me to learn the role of ethics in leadership by respecting the ethical beliefs and
values. It includes concepts related to trust, honesty, consideration, and fairness. Therefore,
ethics at workplace plays an important role as these qualities are add on values for the
organisation and will help in boosting the growth of the organisation. In addition, as an
ethical leader, I will able to achieve positive results from my followers. Hence, the ethical
approaches are always effective for me as a leader (Ethical System , 2019).

c. Leadership and Genders
It had been observed by me that the women are emerging and acquiring the top role in
the organizations or management as a leader. They proved themselves as an effective leader
as they easily encountered the problem. However, almost half the organisational people are
regardless of their temperament. The patience skills that women hold at the time of
leadership, is commendable. Hence, leadership is not dependent on whether you are men or
women. It depends on the qualities you follow when you are at the position of the leader
(Reference for Business , 2019).
d. Leadership and Culture
According to my perception, “Leadership Development” is also based on the culture
of the organisation. The leader should always adopt the culture of the organisation as it
magnifies and enhances effective leadership quality. In addition, as a leader, I will always
help the employees in recognising the value of true culture and its impact (CCL , 2019).
My Experience
The life experience that affected the leadership
My experience that had the effects on my leading capabilities happens when I worked in
the cafe on behalf of the manager, as my friend wants me to lead the staff of the cafe. That
incident is a turning point in my career. At that point, I realized the importance of leadership
reflection. The leadership reflection helps in many ways. This concept helps in enhancing my
scale as a leader and the follower (Mind Tools , 2019). This experience helped me to have a
progress in my career and helps me in understanding my weaknesses and strengths. This life
experience has another level impact on my leadership skills and because of this, I am able to
learn various skills which must be adopted by the effective leader such as self-confidence,
