Reflection on leadership and culture
Role of networking in his leadership career
It has been about 20 years since Caspar Schmidt has been working in the hospitality
industry and it has been explained by him that a balanced holistic as well as holistic leadership is
what makes a leader great. The individuals are supposed to operate strategically in business
management along with creating and aligning elements in the management. He is a very goal
oriented person with emotional intelligence as his strongest asset. It can be analyzed easily
through his speech that how important networking is in a leadership career. His mother
motivated him to follow his heart and many of his friends helped him by suggesting him
different places and restaurant to visit and made friends with chef also travelled a lot and met
many people related to this industry this can be also known as operational networking (DuBois,
Hanlon, Koch, Nyatuga & Kerr, 2015). By meeting with likeminded professionals like his CEO
Rachel he made a great development in this profession also helped by improving social skills
along with that he is also making some modification in the hotel portfolios in respect to services
also creating an amazing teams and producing efficient results for their owners.
Relationship between leadership and innovation: With the globalization. Innovation becomes
necessary for a company (Stronge, 2018). Caspar explained how he is enjoying his current
experience with an innovative brand he also added that although it’s a challenge to build a team
of innovative, intelligent, smart and those members who are truly dedicated towards their work.
Innovation keeps you motivated because innovating new things can help the business grow. Also
new ideas are what makes you different from your competitor and also gives you competitive
advantages. He suggested that while making changes one should go very slowly not straight
away (Ng, Nguyen, Wong & Choy, 2015). You have to prepare yourself mentally while making
any changes because it can affect the business both in good as well as bad way. While deciding if
the process good for the team members he goes above and beyond the possibilities to put their
brand out and also innovative thinking requires a good team to future proof the company
(Shanafelt, et. al, 2015).
I have learned so many great things through this report and the most important and basic thing
that I have learnt is that we should love what we do how we do and where we do. And explore

each and every opportunities (Daft, 2014). In order to achieve success we should just be yourself
and try to make some changes slowly because implementing sudden changes would do us no
good also we should be oriented toward our goals and always ready to take challenges and it also
motivated me in a great amount seeing him build himself from nothing and now owning a large
number of hotels and buildings in different areas.

Capabilities for delivering and driving projects
There are some skills and capabilities that need to be undertaken in an organization for
delivering projects.
Effective communication -The objective of effective communication in an origination is
used to promote motivation among the employees by enhancing charity to the staff.
Effective communication reduces the chances of conflicts and improves the overall
performance. In an organization all the employees have different point of view thus
effective communication helps in altering the attitude of individuals by helping them to
be social. It also assists all the organization by controlling all the process (Brain Tracy
International, 2015). The objective of effective communication helps in reaching the right
audience through correct channels. It also removes the chances of misunderstanding as it
also provides a feedback so that all the expectations are met. Thus it can be stated that it
helps an organization to stronger their decision making power which in turn increases the
overall productivity.
Radiant Confidence- It is important to have a radiant confidence in an organization to
understand and adapt the things. Being confident in an organization increases positivity
and it is true that all the employees will treat that person with confidence. It drives all the
employees to focus on the impact and quality (Leadership thoughts, 2018). The top
managers in an organization should be confident enough so that all the employees treat
their words with value. The man objective of radiant confidence is that it helps in
handling the entire situation without any stress (Antonakis & Day, 2017). It helps in
driving new things and taking risk by innovating new ideas. It helps an organization to

face the fear by setting the bars of confidence high (Joseph, Dhanani, Shen, McHugh &
McCord, 2015). It helps in stretching the limits of goals. Radiant Confidence helps to
speak up their objective in a clear and concisely way.
Well-verse with Contemporary Technology- An organization should make use of
advanced technology to compete with the competitors. The objective of contemporary
technology is to make all the operations automatic so that resources are used efficiently.
The contemporary technology enhances business security by protecting all the personal
information (Sethuraman & Suresh, 2014). The technology also helps in improving the
communication and also encourages the innovation and creativity. It also improves
human resource management of an organization. The technology makes the task
automated which saves the time and also creates mobility. Technology also created the
work easy by reducing the manual work and making all the work automatic. It has also
reduced the chances of errors (Aktas,Gelfand & Hanges, 2016). Information technology
also helps in improving the efficiency of an organization and decrease human faults by
developing automated processes. With the adoption of new technology business can

Caspar Schmidt reflection
A good leadership comes from a good leader, because a good leader can manage everything by
showing a proper direction and way to other fellows. Leadership can be defined as encouraging
and which can be trusted but this is a very basic definition and now there are several ways or
characteristics by which leadership can be defined, different culture follow different norms in
order for a good leadership. “The globe project” conducted a survey in many different countries
in the beginning of 90’s that survey consist of theories put forward by different medium level
managers in the beginning phase of it then in the next phase several CEO’s and senior executives
from different countries were asked to define a good leadership and every different group had
different views towards leadership for example if something was working perfectly for a group
then it is not necessary that the other group agrees with that (Black, 2015). Different cultures
have different opinions about leadership but most of the researchers does not agree with this
statement but studies show that the leadership is affected by both specific cultural as well as
universal aspects for instance, the Chinese always prefer the “Guanxi” concept. It is a cultural

concept which comes from setting a personal bond before business partnership wheter there is
any instrumental benefit or not. If any foreign countries wants to start a set up in china then the
basic step is building a strong Guanxi with their people by meeting people over there because it
will help build the trust between both the parties, in china people rely on Guanxi because the
legal system is not so strong there along with that the Guanxi contract is not limited unlike the
normal contract. While dealing with china, New Zealand had to build a strong Guanxi.
while those people from Anglo backgrounds prefer a leadership which is totally based on values,
where leaders motivate and encourage the team and also expect a good result with their
performance and this is done by evaluating and orienting the team from time to time. People in
Australia encourages people from different backgrounds come into leadership (Young, 2015).
Also in Arab countries like Qatar and Morocco they prefer to explain the leadership as “bridge
between East and West”.
An effective leader
The factor which are helpful in determining if the leader is effective or not re discussed below.
A sound operating system: A sound operating system will determine whether the leader
is effective or not. The right implementation of the operating system is a quality of an
effective leader
Personal bias: One of the effective qualities of a leader is to avoid the personal biasness
among the employees and members of the organization (Hassan, Prussia, Mahsud &
Yukl, 2018). It is the responsibility of an effective leader to avoid the chances of the
discrimination
Vision: An effective leader is someone who has the ability to craft the vision for the
organization. The vison should be of creative nature and it shall be driven by the
intellectual force (Tanuja, 2015).
Communicator: If the communication gap is not detected this means the working of the
leader is effective as well as efficient.
Interpersonal skills: The inert personal skills of the leader determines how efficiently
the decision shave been taken. Everyone shall be given equal chances of being heard and
to share their opinions and ideas yet he shall not rely on the ideas completely.

Values: A leader should possess some core values which can be set as an example for the
other members the employees and can be sued to motivate them.
How to measure: The measurement of the effectiveness of the leader is generally based
on the quantitative as well as the qualitative nature of the work done by the leader. In
terms of the quantitative nature the market share that has been achieved through the
effective leadership can be an example. On the other hand in terms of qualitative nature
the attributes like mission, building strong organization and the communication skills are
the deciding factors in measuring the leadership.
Reflection (Abraham Lincon)
Leadership is the ability that can be utilized by an individual for manipulating, motivating,
stimulating and inspiring the team or the followers for making them reach to their desired targets
and objectives. As per the given scenario it has been analyzed that Abraham Lincon was a great
leader and had proficient leadership skills that motivated and inspired a large number of
followers (Inc, 2017). One of the best ability that has been presented by an incident is that,
Abraham Lincon directed United States during the rough phases and guided the economy
towards prosperity and success, this achievement has been considered as a great milestone in his
life and after analyzing the leadership skills of my boss I observed that he is also a great positive
motivator and have an ability of influencing the team and other staff members.
