Introduction
Leadership skills and behaviour need time and motivation to build and
grow. There are various attributes to good leadership that needs to be
administered to ensure that there is an opportunity to grow and learn. Every
leader has their strengths and weaknesses but a good leader understands
when to draw upon their strengths to support their weakness (Meyer et al,
2017). Leaders are visionary, What it entails is that leaders are able to
conceptualize ideas and goals through personal experiences that enables
them to stand for the things that matters most to them. There are so many
kinds of leadership styles such as transformational, dictatorial, however the
leadership is it deeply impacts the business culture and effects the
performance of the employees considerably. Developing a leadership
ideology is a gradual process that requires thorough understanding of the
theoretical concepts and then practically implementing them in the process
(Özbağ, 2016). It is important to understand the need of the situation or
crisis and be adept at handling the crisis that may come. Flexibility in the
leadership is important, very rigid system of management can be deterring
for the morale of the employees and effects the motivation. The leader is
meant to lead, their thought process is turned into action plan and that is
important for the growth and development of the company. Understanding
the market plans and the future market trends is very important to analyse

and reflect upon. Personal attitudes, world view and opinions helps to form
an ideology that later translates to a leadership style, it is essential for a
leader to be well acquainted with the employees, stakeholders and other
members of the organisation and to understand the needs of the
organisation (Narayandas et al, 2019). To capture new opportunities,
understand the threats and make proactive plans to address them. The
following is a leadership development plan and discusses various section of
the development plan.
Why: My Vision
One of the things that has affected me growing up is having to struggle
financially. Growing up I realized that it not a solitary struggle that is limited
to a person but to so many people and it affects their lives incredibly in the
decision that they take and the way they look at lives. I want to create
opportunities for people so that they can have access to basic things in life
such as access to education, healthcare and an opportunity at better life. My
vision is create small self-help groups of women and men who can build a
small pool of finances and help support their immediate goals and needs and
also promote education and create a community that is proactive and
supportive of each other.
What: My Personal Leadership Development Goal
Personal development goals require self-awareness and developing in
critical thinking capacity to register my own actions and their repercussions

that is one of the very first things a leader needs to develop. Simply acting
without building any self-awareness or refusing to analyze our own thought
process we do not end up learning from the experience (Özbağ, 2016).
Effective communication is very important in building a development
plan because it helps to build interpersonal relationship and it is very
essential in building organizational performance. Studies indicate effective
communication is very necessary in building relations within the organization
and it also promotes healthy inclusive workplace environment. Effective
communication is often ignored and can be very harmful for the growth of
the organization. When there is a lack of communication from the top
management to the employees from the lower hierarchy, they feel isolated
and often cannot understand the nature of their task and do not end up
performing well. Therefore I do want to enhance my communication style I
think it is essential for organizational performance.
Critical feedback is also an essential part of the leadership plan. While
studies show that positive encouragement promotes employee confidence
and helps to maximize the productivity. However, it is also important to be
able to give the difficult criticisms so that the individual can learn and grow
(Cutumisu et al, 2018). Personally I believe that critical feedback needs to be
given in a proper manner so that the employee’s sentiments is not hurt and
they are able to realize the problem. Upon reflection I have not been able to
deliver critical feedback successfully for the fear that I might hurt their
feelings.

Survey is one of the ways that is beneficial in tracking progress and

performance analysis data can help to understand and track progress.
Participating in workshops and skill enhancing training programs are good for
learning new skills.

possesses the competencies I want to build?
I will ask my supervisors and seniors for support. I think my supervisors and
seniors have better knowledge and skill to guide me and help me build my
competencies.

honest advice on my progress or failure.

Conclusion
In conclusion, leadership is important for the development of the company.
While leadership has been found important, just any style of leadership is not
effective. In the effective management of leadership style and growth.
Therefore it is important to capture the nuances of the situation. When the
leadership management is confused and unorganised it affects the total
performance of the company. The most valid argument that one can make is
the use of valid acceptable method of leadership is important to develop and
possess for better communication and implementation of the same. I have
realized upon reflecting that there are consequences to our actions and a
leader needs to constantly work at being better. For a leader team is

also important. From, my experience I have come to realise that a leader
should be diplomatic and also they should be fair in their method. Partiality
or favoritism can break a team structure and reduce the performance of the
team members. Therefore, it is important to examine and develop proper
leadership plans for the growth of the company.
