Introduction
FIRO-B instrument is known as Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation
Behaviour Assessment. It helps the individuals to understand their own behaviour or
behavioural pattern of others. This instrument provides an insight of the interpersonal needs
of an individual and thus helping to modify the workplace interactions. There are different
types of FIRO-B framework that are available online like profile report, interpretive report
for organizations and personal leadership report. The following assignment aims to illustrate
my personal strength and weakness as evidence from the FIRO-B instrument of leadership
report and leadership self-assessment test (LST). The skills were accessed and given separate
scores.
Inclusion
Based on expressed inclusion, the tool highlighted that I love to include others in
group-based activities and also take active initiates in extending effective interaction with
others. In the wanted inclusion category, the tool stated that personally I also love to get
included in the group based activities and I also loved to get noticed. Thus overall it can be
said that I have a strong preference towards social interaction and taking part in the social
activities. The main traits that are covered under inclusion include belonging, recognition,
involvement, participation and distinction. In reference to the traits associated with the
inclusion, it can be said that I score average in the level of emotional intelligence as I am
capable to and willing to work with others under socially active atmosphere. The score of
emotional intelligence as reflected in the LST is 27 and thus highlighting my skill of
understanding the emotion of others.

In the trait of control, it can be seen that I can control and influence others in the score
of 7 out of 10 and also loves to take responsibility of motivating and directing others.
However, under the wanted control, I secured 3 out of 10. This showed that are am only
comfortable in certain well-defined situations and require clear instructions in order to
amalgamate with other situations. In other words it can be said that I am not comfortable in
respecting others' authority or maintaining the proper hierarchical structure. I have issues in
anger manager management and following or listening to negative feedbacks from others.
The main traits of control include power, authority, influence, responsibility and
consistency. The high expressed score in the control level helped me to excel in the
conceptual thinking (score of LST: 24). Thus I can say that I have competency of conceiving
and simultaneous selecting strategies and innovative ideas that are helpful for the
organization. However, poor score on in the "wanted control" highlight that I am poor in
systems thinking. But my System thinking score as per the LST is average (25). This
signifies that I face certain hurdle in connecting process and events in a system and thus face
problem in bringing balance in the organization. Poor score also reflects lack of proper
mental discipline and process orientation. The trait also shows that I lack trusted influence.
But my LST showed that my building trust/enabling other score is highest (score 30). Thus
interpretation of both the test is contradictory. Overall I can say that I am good in building
trust but I scoreless in trusting others and this is the reason why I fail to work under the
instructions of others.
Affection
The expressed score of affection is 5 showing that I have medium level of affection

my overall emotional intelligence in average. It coincided with the analysis extracted from
the “inclusion trait”. This is because; I fail to act warmly towards others at times. But it has a
good side too, it shows that I need little encouragement from others. This shows that I am
self-motivated and thus helping me to score high in the ground of directions. This means that
I have my own self-direction and have the ability of understand the job situation in order to
function as per the expectations and this goes in accordance with my focused drive score of
LST (score 27).
SMART Goal
I think in order to increase the level of skill in participation in the group based
activities and obeying the instructions of other, it is important to refine the effective
communication skills or interpersonal communication skills. Effective communication skills
will help me to indulge in therapeutic relationship with the other people while excelling on
the emotional intelligence, trust-building and system thinking. The development of the
interpersonal communication skills will help me improving the overall personality. The
working on the non-verbal communication skills like listening patiently to others thoughts or
perceptions, while maintaining eye contact helps to improve the warmth of the overall
communication process and trust building attitude. This will help me to improve my level of
emotional intelligence and working in group in professional space.
Thus in order to improve my communication skills further, I will take part in the soft
skill improvement class. I will mainly stress on my non-verbal communication skills like the
body language and eye contact in order to make myself approachable to others. Taking part in
