Introduction
Self-assessment is an important practice in identifying the strengths, weaknesses, and
areas that need to be addressed for one to become an effective leader. The self-assessment that I
completed proved to me that I am an effective manager who has the potential to grow and also to
lead an organization or team to excellence. The score of the assessment was 81, and that means
that I scored a high mark. The results will come in handy to help me in knowing the type of the
manager I am as well as the areas that I need to focus on to become a better leader.
Findings of the assessment
The findings of the assessment were 81%. The percentage shows that I am effective manager.
Experience of being a manager in this course
The experience of being a manager in this course has been interesting and challenging at
the same time. I have learned a lot about myself that I did not know before and that has been
helpful. The interesting part has also been working with different people who have different
skills. Despite being a leader, I must state that it has been educative. The challenging part has
been to balance and make sure that I am neutral when working with all team members. As a
leader, I have learned that I must be neutral and that must be fostered by the zeal to raise an
effective workforce.
How my mastered managerial skills supported my academic success
Managerial skills and academics share different characteristics. Teamwork and
corporation are the two major characteristics that have complimented each other. My managerial

teamwork skills have helped me to work together with other students, and that has added to my
academic success.
What I need to work on in the future
I need to work on making sure that I identify teams that work together. I have realized
that I do not rhyme the group members with their personality. I am more interested in how
people perform despite if they rhyme or not. In this case, I, therefore, believe that I should work
on making sure that the group members are grouped in line with their likes at times. The reason
behind it is because the personality of a person can have an impact on his or her effectiveness in
a group.
A pathway to improvement through a specific practical application of a developing
competency
The activity that I will engage in is looking into the traits of group members before
placing them in a group. The reason why I need to work on this is to make sure that the traits and
the personalities of the group members are aligned with the activities that they are supposed to
perform. One reason why I performed low on this aspect was because I did not factor in the ages
of the group members. The activity will be essential in different ways. The first way is to make
sure that suitors are placed together with the aim of promoting their effectiveness in the group.

I have identified different managerial skills after the assessment, and each of the skills
has come to add value to my resume. The mastered skills will be added to my resume in the form
of writing. On the resume, there is a section where I should outline my managerial skills. I will
include them in the form of writing, and that will change my resume for the better.

One of the lessons which are significant is the addition of value to my resume. It is essential to
note that the quality and value of a resume is highly affected by the content. The skills play a
significant role in attracting the employer. In the case of the skills, I have added managerial
skills, and that means that I have added value to my resume thus making it attractive to potential
employers. Apart from value addition on my resume, I have also learned that the list of the
activities that I have engaged in which add to my experiences have increased. The leadership
activity that led to the improvement of skills has to be listed on the resume, and that means that
the experience in leadership has increased. As a result, the resume looks more attractive and
appealing.
