Introduction
Leadership is the ability to lead someone and show him or her right direction. In this report, I am
describing the designation of a leader and highlighting the ups and downs that I have
experienced in the journey of my leadership. The main motive for designing this report is to
analyse my career as a leader. Here, I will throw some light on my current obligation, duties, and
challenges faced by me while leading the team members.

Main Body
Current/recent role, responsibilities and leadership challenges
This is my duty to guide my followers and team members in an appropriate manner. I am
properly doing the same. I am working in a consultancy firm which offers eligible candidates to
different companies according to their needs and demands. One unique thing is that we offer
them trained and qualified workers since we used to train them as per their job roles so that other
party (venture) does not suffer a lot. As I am playing the role of a leader, I used to give training
to the newly selected applicants as well as HR managers. I commonly show the correct way to
the HR managers regarding how they should take the interview of different candidates. In this
context, I also help them in planning certain eligibility criteria so that they can choose correct
and skilled people from the pool of a large number of applicants (Leadership Theories - In
Chronological Order. (Arnold, et. al., 2015). In addition to this, I take a training session of
selected candidates to train them properly so that they can meet the demands of another firm for
whom they got selected.
Key aspects of your leadership journey
I am very dominating in nature since my childhood. Because of this, in my school life, I was my
class leader. My class teacher had given me the responsibility of taking care of the whole class
and report her if any issue occurs. From that, I have received confidence in positively leading
another person. After that in my college life, I acquired the chance of becoming the leader of the
whole college. I am also a good speaker and given speech many times in – in front of a large
number of people. These circumstances have inspired and influenced me to become a good
leader. As a fruitful result, I have applied for the designation of team leader in my company and
also get selected for the same post. My leadership journey is quite interesting since I have seen
both good as well as the bad situation in my professional life. In the journey of my leadership, I
faced certain challenges and obstacles. Initially, I was not able to resolve the conflicts that
occurred within different employees (Core Leadership Theories Learning the Foundations of
Leadership, 2019). This happens due to my fault of getting no so much close with each team
member. But, I am trying to resolve the same by improving the relationship between all the
workforces. I am attempting to build up a positive and healthy relationship with my group

members and other subordinates. This will bring me closer towards my colleagues as well as
teammates and as a result, they will come to me along with their issues. I will try to resolve the
same by applying my strategic quality. But after some time, I get able to resolve even more
complex situations in very less time interval. I used to give training to each person by
determining their strengths and weaknesses. If any weak point is identified, it is my job to
convert that weakness into a strength by offering training sessions to him or her.
Results of the Gallup Strengths Finder
By receiving the outcomes of the Gallup Strength Finder, I come to know about my strength or
power in terms of leadership. I am restorative and do not get bored, ill and tired frequently. This
makes me strong in front of other colleagues. I use this quality in creating an interesting and
interactive working environment where every member enjoys their job role without getting tired
and bored. In this context, I commonly used to organise some interactive sessions to interact with
everyone and knowing each worker on a personal basis. In addition to this, I am also a good
learner and strategic person. To be strategic is a good gift for me as I can make an effective and
interesting strategy for dealing with certain issues and matters (Nanjundeswaraswamy & Swamy,
2014). In – fact, my senior comes to me for taking my opinion on important decisions. They
believe in my talent and think that I would make some strategic idea for them in very less time.
Apart from this, I am also responsible and focused on my job roles and goals. This makes me
different from other leaders since some of them get diverted from their original or main aims and
objectives due to certain issues. In – fact, I have recently received of best leader in my
organisation because of all these qualities and previous presentation. This appraisal has
motivated me continuously and is increasing the current level of enthusiasm. I think all such
qualities will also contribute a lot in career development as a leader. On the other hand, I am
focusing on my weak factors and trying to improve the same ineffective manner so that I would
not face any issue in the future.
Key feedback points on your current leadership style, capabilities, effectiveness,
interpersonal and social skills
To know about my presentation and working style, I have asked my colleague, partner, and other
trusted sources to give their feedbacks. Some of them are quite satisfied with my work. They said
that I used to follow a democratic or participative leadership style since I offer my team members

to take part in the process of decision making. I believe in teamwork so that all of the workers
remain happy and work together for attaining similar or mutual goals of the company (Yahaya &
Ebrahim, 2016). Another reason for inviting workforces while making decisions is to take a
correct and logical decision so that I would not regret if any wrong decision would take by me.
On the contrary, some of my subordinates also show me my weakness so that I can work on that
and recover easily. They told me that I need to improve my communication skill as some of the
time; I get hesitated in speaking in front of a huge crowd. Thus, after that, I am not able to
express my views properly. Therefore, I decided to join communication classes so that I can
easily speak fluent English.
At the same time, I am also ready to learn other languages excluding my mother tongue to
interact with my foreign clients and employees as well. Apart from this, some of the trusted ones
told me that I need to learn time management skills as my work is good, but it takes so much
time. Due to this, sometimes the deadline of clients got missed. Therefore, I decided to join
training classes for improving the same skill. In addition to this, I also thought to start working
under my senior leaders so that I learn to work in practical events since it helps in learning the
skill in more appropriate ways (Top 10 Interpersonal Skills: Why They're Important. ( Top 4
Theories of Leadership, 2016). I also consult my colleagues and team members also for knowing
about my interpersonal skills. I want to know how a person I am? I also received the positive
answer. They told me that I am having good self- confidence and this help in completing
complex chores also. I am polite since I do not have to express any kind of anger in my
behaviour. I behave calmly even when my mood is off and try to control my emotions. The body
language and listening skill are also quite good. I think this is because of my string self –
confidence.
Implications of the feedback and your reflection on its significance
This is very true that when you want to know about yourself properly, then it is your colleague
or other people who show the mirror. I have experienced the same and found it quite interesting.
After receiving negative feedback, I come to know about my weaknesses. This suggests to me
what to do to improve that condition. Thus, it can be said that feedback plays an important or
significant role in our life. Without listening to the other’s views, no one cannot take correct
decisions (4 Different Types of Leadership Styles, 2012). For example, as some of my
6

colleagues said that my communication skill is not so good, I need to improve the same as I get
hesitated in front of a huge crowd. As the worst result, I would not be able to express my feeling
and views effectively. Therefore, I decided to join communication classes so that I can improve
my weakness and convert that into strength. For a leader, communication skill is most important
since he or she has to speak in front of their team members and motivate them by delivering a
motivational speech. Besides this, some of the people have given feedback that I need to learn
time management skill since some works get delayed as it was delivered after the deadline. This
creates a negative impact on my image in front of my senior leaders and management. At the
same time, some positive response had also come that shows my strength. This effectively
motivates me and inspires me to do better.
Link to theory and conceptual frameworks that explain or clarify your experiences and
feedback
Some leadership theories are associated with feedbacks and experiences. This includes trait
theories, behavioural theory, and contingency theories. According to trait theory, effective and
skilled leaders share certain common personality characteristics. This philosophy assists in
identifying the qualities as well as traits of leaders. For example, I have received feedback that I
am having certain properties like good decision making, empathy, responsibility, etc. On the
other side, behavioural theories state that what a great leader does. According to this, three are
three kinds of leaders that are an autocratic leader, laissez-faire leader, and democratic leader
(Hendriks & Karsten, 2014). My colleagues said that I fall under the category of a democratic
leader as I effectively support my team members and also promote my associates in the process
of decision making. Contingency theory shows how a certain situation influences a good leader. I
have experienced this theory in my journey as a leader. I have ups and downs in my career as a
leader due to the existing situation of working place.

Conclusion
By going through the above-based report, it can be summarised that leadership is nothing but the
capability of leading someone and showing the right direction to the team member. In this
project, I have described my life as a leader and highlighted the ups and downs that I have faced
on the trip of my leadership. I noticed so many strength of mine along with a few weak factors
also. The weakness has shown by my colleague in the form of feedbacks. I have started working
on them and trying to attain career growth.
