This report presents a comprehensive self-assessment, fulfilling the requirements of a MAN201 Organisational Behaviour assignment. It begins with an executive summary and table of contents, followed by an introduction that emphasizes the significance of self-reflection in leadership development. The report reviews findings from four personality assessments: Myers Briggs Profile, Costa & McCrae Big 5 Personality Traits, McClelland Needs Analysis, and Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument, with a detailed focus on the Costa & McCrae model. A critical analysis delves into the implications of the findings, particularly the openness and conscientiousness traits, and their impact on leadership styles, supported by relevant research. A reflection section discusses the meaning of these findings for future leadership roles. Finally, an action plan outlines steps for enhancing communication and sharing skills. Introduction
It is important that each of us follow a definite development plan which is going to help us give
shape to our developmental plan. Self-reflection helps in understanding the leadership skills and
managerial qualities which is of great help in shaping career and influences behavior at
organizations. It plays an important role in determining the personal forefront too. There are
several measures which can be used in assessing ourselves and appreciating and criticizing our
performance. This further led to development of several models which is going to be in detailed
discussion in this assignment.
Review of Findings
In the first place Myers Briggs Profile was reviewed. This model is used basing on
questionnaire which helps in determining the psychological preferences which determines their
perception of the world around them.
Source: (McCrae and Costa 1989).
Costa & McCrae Big 5 Personality Traits is vital tool that has taken forward the research in
leadership and managerial skills and has helps in formation of literature. This model helps in
making identification of personality traits based on different words that are used in describing a
particular trait in a human being. In the image given below, the different kinds of personality that
are used in this model (Carlson, 1985).

McClelland Needs Analysis helps in understanding the nature of the person and accordingly it
helps in understanding the need. This model is of great use for leaders as the very first duties of a
leader are to understand the subordinates. In a team too this helps in better communication with
the team members. Some people may like accolades in private some in private. These are some
of the basics that are being cleared with this model (McCrae and Costa 1989).
Source: (Muris Meesters and Asseldonk 2018).
Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument is last but not the least significant model that
helps in self-reflection and understanding others around us. Conflict is certain to happen when
people interact as each are different from one another. Coming to a common conclusion is quite
difficult. In a workplace too, this model holds a major significance and has been of great help in

mitigating conflicts. A wonderful aspect of this is that it can be conducted online and through the
method of feedback. The departments that make maximum utilization of it are HR and
Organisational Development (Semeijn, 2018).
Source: (Casto, 2019).
So the above main assessment methods that have been briefly described in order to provide a
basic understanding of the models and methods. The one that I chose to employ Costa & McCrae
Big 5 Personality Traits as it is going to help me understand the traits and find out what is the
combination of it in my personality. Before understanding everyone around us, it is important
that we are aware of our own personality.

A simple test of this model looks something like the above. Like this, there are many other
questionnaires that can be found out in the internet (Ware,2019).
The questions presented in a long list which circles around personality, temperament and
choices.
After the text concluded my personality trait was seen inclined towards openness. I personally
also agreed to this as in my personal opinion I have a tendency of being open to new ideas and
experience and I love exploring the possibility of an idea.

Another important trait that I had come through my research of this assessment was that there is
higher level of appreciation for cultural and artistic things. Of course travel is included in the list.
But these are not something that can be of help of has the power to influence the leadership
quality in me (Stein and Swan, 2019).
In order to understand the leadership and managerial skills it is important that we try to look at
the points that is going to greatly influence our decision making.
Critical Analysis and Reflection on Leadership Skill
The openness attribute of the test result is an important revelation to me. As a person who is
open I am more receptive to ideas which are an ideal for the leadership quality. Leaders are
shapers of the employees and the followers. Here as a leader I would chose to assert Situational

leadership style which will mean that I am going to develop in me different kinds or a
combination of leadership skill based on the various theories and research that I have researched
up on.
It is a positive realization that the assessment has given me and I believe this could help me in
future a great deal (Oshio , 2018).
Conscientiousness is another personality that has shown its presence as result of the assessment
that I took. This means that people who have Conscientiousness, have a greater sense of
responsibility and they evaluate the consequences that an action can result in (Gardner and Martink
1996).
This again is going to help me in understanding different situations better as I am more on the
side of evaluating the results than getting lost in the thrill of action in an organisation what is
most important is the consequence or the result. Although risk taking is something that should be
encouraged by the management at a certain level, the actions that result in loss are bad for the
reputation and books of a particular organisation.
I was greatly satisfied with this assessment.
However, in order to have an all-round knowledge about myself it was important that I tried my
hands at other tests too. In Myer & Griggs test one thing that I could notices was that I fall short
on the idea of sharing and I simply observe. As person who is appreciated by people around, it is
vitally important, that there is enough sharing of thoughts and feelings within limits. AS for the
first test I have already mentioned that it was quite fruitful and I said above that the openness
attribute of the test result is an important revelation to me. As a person who is open I am more
receptive to ideas which are an ideal for the leadership quality. Leaders are shapers of the
employees and the followers. Here as a leader I would chose to assert Situational leadership style
which will mean that I am going to develop in me different kinds or a combination of leadership
skill based on the various theories and research that I have researched up on (Casto, 2019).
Action Plan
Action plan helps in step by step planning so that there is an all-round development of the
personality. My action plan will include the following areas:
Communication As a successful leaders and fellow employee it
is vital that I have the correct sense of
communicating. Communication is the
backbone of a well-functioning team and it
helps in unity and better results and higher
productivity (Rubens et al 2018).
Sharing Though in Personality Trait test it is openness

that has come out as an important result, in
Myers and Griggs test I believe indication has
been made towards my sharing attitude. This is
fruitful in the sense that it is going to help stay
reserve and also stay out of issues but it is not
good to have an influence. Therefore, I am
going to work on this by sharing more things
that I usually do as well be a good listener.
Reading I am including this in my action plan because
readers are always wiser than the people
around them. It is important that I stay
connected to differ kinds of leadership stories
like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Elon Musk and so
on and so forth (Stajkovic et al 2018).
Conclusion
The assignment helped me in taking assessment that were quite helpful to and has led to
wonderful results which I am going to incorporate in in my skills and shape up my personality
based on these results. However, we must also be mindful of the downside of the assessments as
they cannot be a perfect replacement of conscience and reasoning that is there at the time of an
emergency. Often, the suggestion of others help us in making necessary changes in offices and
home too.
