In the company managers’ job is to planning, organizing,
coordinating, staffing where as leader is required to motivate,
direct and inspire employees and workers of firm. There is a
great importance of these two. Better management facilitates
better planning, organizing, staffing and coordinating to achieve
targets of Semco. On other side, effective leadership is required
to provide guidance, create confidence, building of morale and
motivation, create a good working environment, self awareness,
team building, managing conflict, recognizing, defining and
solving problems, etc. Sometime on requirement, a manager
may perform functions of leader and vise versa.

Semco is following lasses faire leadership style where
employees are free to work within a particular limit.
Management facilitates a democratic working environment that
reduces control over workforce (Marker, 2010). Here, they
provide an opportunity to staff to elect their own managers and
higher authority. A good leader should have qualities such as
focus, confidence, integrity, patience, guiding, innovation,
transparency, passion, authenticity, open mindedness, good
communication, empowerment and positivity, etc. Earlier this
company used to follow autocratic style of leadership later it
changed it and adopted laissez faire style.

The reasons behind this change were based on the principles
like employee participation, profit sharing and free flow of
information among the workers.
Although there are so many theories of leadership but
transformational is the one which is more beneficial for
Semco (Yoder-Wise, 2014). Here, management gives power to
their staff members to work with their own demands which
help in improvement in their performance. Semco is an
enterprise where leaders should have a broad area of skills and
knowledge to build a well define limit around its subordinates.

In this entity, leaders have an ability to team building because
a leader only guide and instruct team members what they have
to do and in which way they have to perform their work
(Răducan and Răducan, 2014). This will be beneficial for both
company and employees to improve their performance.
Leader in Semco company must have an ability to
manage and control its subordinates. Managers at high level
make plans to achieve organizational objectives. Leaders
should have an ability to deliver such to their subordinates. It
is their duty to delegate this to their employees.

Sometime they also play the role of mediator between lower level
employees and top management.
Therefore, management makes the plan and workforce of the
enterprise implement that in their working to accomplish their
targets (Bolman and Deal, 2014). They (leaders) also instruct and
communicate about various different strategies followed by the
company. There is only one area where it has to improve i.e. time
management. It is an ability to plan and executing the time spent
on specific activities and work to accomplish set goals and
targets. It means an individual needs to spend his/her time in such
way in which he/she can complete the allotted work on or before
due date.

It is important for managers at Semco to develop effective
strategies to manage time and make balance between official
and non official work. Sometimes people do not have enough
time to perform their routine work also due to the burden of
office work which may lead to stress. This may harm the
performance of workforce and that directly affect the
productivity and profitability of the corporation (Kuppusamy,
Ganesan and Rosada, 2010). There are some techniques
through which time can be effectively managed like
eliminating unnecessary work, planning the work,
multitasking, reducing interruptions, etc.

Therefore, it is essential for the company to develop proper
strategies to overcome from this.
