INTRODUCTION
Service Industries primarily are the important part of the economy which are involved in
retail, transport, distribution, health care as well as other service related business. This greatly
helps in the development of the economy (Bon and Mustafa, 2013). This report is based on
Docklands Academy which has a close partnership with three restaurants called Hazev, Has and
Tas. This project will throw lights on various classical management theories and leadership
styles and analysed how digital technology affects internals and external management styles.
WRITTEN REPORT
Assess different classical management theories
Classical management theories is based on the belief that workforce within the
organisation only have physical and economic needs and doesn't takes into account social needs.
It has a centralised leadership and decision making. Various management theories are described
as follows-
Scientific management theory- This theory focuses on increasing the production within the
respective organisation with the use of intensive technology. It major focus is on increasing the
efficiency of the workforce so that productivity can be enhanced.
Bureaucratic management theory- This is the most effective management theory which have a
well defined line of authority and has clear rules and regulations which are strictly followed
within the organisation.
In context to Docklands Academy as it operations multiple chains bureaucratic theory is
the most effective one where different chains of food and production lines can perform under the
well defined rules and regulations (Campbell, Jardine and McGlynn, 2016).
Explain the role of the leader and different leadership styles in a service sector industry context.
Leader is an individual within the organisation who inspires, guides and motivates
employees within the organisation to achieve specific goals and targets. Leader plays a vital role
within the organisation which is described as follows-
ï‚· Act as a representative of the organisation- Leader represents its organisation in
various conferences, meetings and seminars. Role of the leader is to communicate all
the necessary information to the outside public and effectively takes decisions.

ï‚· Required at all Levels- Leader plays a vital role within the organisation and performs its
roles and responsibilities at all the levels. At the lower level, role of the leader is to
frame and formulate rules and regulations, at the middle level their role is to implement
plans and policies at the higher level it requires cooperation in formulation of plans.
In case of Docklands academy leader performs a crucial role by formulating rules and
regulations so that various multiple food chains can perform their functions effectively.
Various Leadership Styles are described as follows-
Autocratic Leadership- Under this form of leadership full control lies in the hand of top
authority, they are responsible for taking decisions without the involvement of employees. This
style of leadership is effective in Docklands academy which has a multiple food chains, here
decisions can be taken immediately by the top authorities (Chen, Zhu and Zhou, 2015).
Democratic Leadership- This is known as the participative leadership style in which supervisor
of the respective organisation involves employees in the decision making process and encourages
employees to work more productively. This type of leadership if adopted by Docklands
Academy creates a harmonious work place environment.
Review the management and leadership styles in a specific service sector organisation.
Leadership styles is an practice or an approach of providing directions and influencing
the behaviour of the employees to perform effectively. Their are various types of leadership
styles such as autocratic, participative and delegative which the leaders of the respective
organisation can adopt to provide direction to its employees. In context to Docklands Academy
which have a multiple chain of food and operation and has a close partnership with Hazev, Haz
and Tas can adopt best suitable leadership style to control and monitor the work. But according
to the Docklands academy it operates multiple chain of operations autocratic style of leadership
should be adopted when company needs to take immediate decisions but it should also adopt
democratic style of leadership which will involve all the employees in decision making process
and makes them feel valuable and encourages them to work more productively (Clark, Silvester
and Knowles, 2013).
Investigate the internal and external factors that influence management styles and structures in a
selected industry organisation.
Their are various external and internal factors that influences management style and
structures within the specific service sector organisation. Internal factors include consist of the

employees, customers, systems and process . These factors play a vital role and greatly affects
the working of the employees within the respective service sector organisation. In context to
Docklands Academy which have a close partnership with Hazev, Haz and Tas has employees
from different backgrounds should follow a specific system or a procedure while regulating its
business activities so as to avoid conflicts and creates a harmonious work place environment.
External Factors-
External factors are those factors which are outside the organisation and greatly affects
the work and activities of different food and operation chains under Docklands Academy. It
consist of customers, competitors, suppliers and various political, social and economic
environment which affects business growth and success. In context to Docklands Academy
which have multiple food chains are greatly affected by these external factors. This also affects
the various management and leadership styles adopted by the respective organisation(Huarng
and ibeiro-Soriano, 2014).
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that management and leadership plays a
crucial role in performing business activities in a effective manner. Moreover there are various
internal and external factors which affects management and leadership style within the
organisation. Hence Leaders should play effective role by providing guidance and inspiring its
employees to perform effectively.
