INTRODUCTION
Development of leadership in an organisation is important for making the employees to
work according to the group goals and work with cooperation and accuracy (Zenger, 2019). The
person with good leadership skills does not require much time or effort then the person with
weak skills. Leadership is one of the management functions and the management is the overall
and involves every function which is required to achieve the objectives of the firm. This report
will include reflection on the leadership and management skills with various theories and
models. Furthermore, developing the plan for the leadership and management activities for
improving the weaknesses and increasing the strength.
MAIN BODY
Leadership and management skills
Leadership is important in doing all the type of team work like encouraging or motivating
the team members to work according for achieving the objectives (Sainz, 2019). From My past
experiences in the academics I came to know that without leadership skills the team work cannot
achieve its objectives to the fullest. This leadership skill involved various other skills too like
communication, critical thinking, problem solving, motivational, team working skill, creative
skills etc. From all the past experiences of Mine in academics and working different
organisations I found My weaknesses and strengths in performing the task.
Management skills are all about managing the people in an appropriate way like
organising the activities or arranging resources required to do the task etc (Kerr, 2020). The
management of people requires other skills too for making its operation strong and achieving the
goals efficiently.
Identification of leadership and management skills through model
I identified all My strength and weaknesses with help of various models in which all the
mistakes I did and all the skills which are lacking are identified.
Gibbs Reflective Cycle

The reflective cycle was published by Graham Gibbs in 1988 which means learning by
doings in which people can experience and learn its mistakes from the past experiences and
improve their future performances (Adeani, 2020). I learned a lot of things with the help of this
model like I created all My situations in a way that need improvements. This model has 5 steps
which has to be followed for finding the solutions for the mistakes arises in the past situations.
Step 1: Description
From the first step I learned and decided the situation in which My skills were lacking
and what I did at that movement and what is My mistake. I found out that my communication
skills were lacking that is why I cannot explain My opinions or thoughts in the team properly.
Step 2: Feelings
This is the second step in which I started thinking the situation about My feelings on that
time of and I found that My confidence level was not good enough due which My presentation in
front of everyone was not good.
Step 3: Evaluation
Then I found out the strength or the skills in which I am good because My thinking skills
are good due to excellent results in performances or the creating new ideas in a particular
problems.
Step 4: Conclusions
I got the overall conclusion that I need to improve my communication skills or leadership
skills so that if the situation arises next time I can cope up with it carefully.
Step 5: Action
Lastly I decided that I should practically practiced the skills in real life so that I can
become a complete leader and achieve My goals with full efficiency.

After the Gibb’s reflective model and finding out all the situations I developed many
activities to improve My leadership and management skills. I started planning my strategies for
weaknesses I am good at critical thinking skills so developed many strategies needed to improve
My skills. For all my weak skills I developed an action plan in which I wrote all the things which
are required to improve my skills.

CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that developing leadership and management
skills is necessary for developing the overall efficiency of an individual. Further it has been
concluded that from the Gibbs’s model all the situation happened and arises are evaluated and
the mistakes or problems are found out that need to be improved for the future performances. It
is concluded that making various plans and strategies for developing the weak skills with proper
schedule is important to become efficient in leadership and management skills. All the skills
required practical practices in real life and particular time to get expert in those skills.
