As the strengths and weaknesses have been listed above, it can be seen that there are only
a few areas which needs to be improved compared to the strong areas. It is the responsibility of
the individuals to work on the areas of weaknesses in order to be an effective leader. The
advantage in this case is that the individual already possess numerous strengths and has a strong
motivation to lead (Chen & Rybak, 2017). Therefore a bit of hard work is required to focus on
the issues that might become a hurdle in the journey of leadership. The weaknesses can be turned
into strengths which will act as motivation for the employees (Kaiser, LeBreton & Hogan, 2015).
Developing leadership skills
In order to improve the weak areas the individual can acquire the leadership skills for his
own benefit. The leadership skills will be helpful to change the weaknesses into strengths.
First and foremost, a leader needs to have a clear vision without which he will not be able
to set long term goals (Kearns et al., 2015). It is also important to be aware of the strengths and
utilize them in the right place. There is no point of hiding the talents. A leader must be passionate
about the work that he is doing which will help him to show dedication in the work. However, he

should not move away from ethics and moral values while trying to be a good leader because
honesty and trust comes before everything. The leader must know that he is a role model for his
team and his acts should reflect that. He should link the individual goals with the company
objective to make a proactive and motivated team (Owens, Wallace & Waldman, 2015). A
positive attitude helps in gaining respect from the employees within the organization. If these
factors are taken care, then it will not be very difficult to be a leader.
