Introduce the motivational theories such as Content and Process theories , performance
management and continuous improvement.
Motivational theories is the process of analysis what drives the study of what motivates
a person to work toward a specific goal or end is known as motivation theory. It affects everyone
in society, but it's extremely significant in business and management.
Theories of motivation that examine the substance of what motivates us. Maslow's hierarchy
of requirements, Alderfer's ERG model, Herzberg's two-factor model, and McClelland's desire
for achievement, affiliation, and power are all examples of content theories. According to content
theories, we direct and sustain our behaviour in order to address unmet wants. Maslow claims
that we are motivated by higher-order or 'growth' wants after we have met basic requirements
such as shelter, food, and warmth known as deficiency needs satisfying work, personal self-
fulfilment. However, some theories suggest that we are not always driven by unmet wants and
can revert to being motivated by what we can do, while others just as, the two-factor model
argue that factors that can enable us to achieve are factors that can enable us to achieve.
Process theories of motivation attempt to explain why people engage in certain
behaviours. These theories are concerned with the method by which we select a target and the
effort required to strike it. operant conditioning, equity, aim, and expectation are the four major
process theories.
Alderfer's ERG model-
Clayton Alderfer reformulated Maslow's need hierarchy theory of motivation in his own words
to bring it into line with empirical findings. ERG theory of motivation is his revision. Maslow's
hierarchy of requirements was recategorized by him into three simpler and larger categories:
Existential requirements include the requirement for fundamental materials. In a shell, it refers to
a person's biology as well as physical safety requirements.
Individuals' desires for significant interpersonal ties whether with family, peers, or superiors, as
well as public fame and recognition, are examples of relatedness demands. This category of need
includes Maslow's social needs as well as the external component of esteem needs.
6

Self-development, as well as personal progress and advancement, are among the needs for
growth. Maslow's self-actualization needs and esteem requirements are intrinsically linked
Goal setting theory -
Locke and Latham were the pioneers of goal-setting philosophy (1990). People will be driven to
the extent that they embrace precise, hard goals and receive feedback that shows their progress
toward those goals, according to this theory. accomplishment. The following are the basic
elements of goal-setting theory:
Employee acceptance of goals - Goals that are effective must be accepted by employees. Goals
That are not accepted on a human level will have limited ability to influence behaviour.
Allowing employees to vote is a strong way to gain acceptability.Become a member of the goal-
setting process. Defining and communicating the goal The goal's necessity also ensures a higher
level of dedication to it.
Clarity - Clear, measurable quantitative goals are common in specific goals.Improvement
targets in the behaviour of interest According to research Because setting explicit performance
objectives is far more effective that particular performance goals are far more effective than
those in which there are no specific performance goals"Do best," someone is instructed.
Difficulty - Challenging goals are difficult to achieve, but not impossible. They cause people to
increase the intensity and perseverance with which they labour. when they meet a person's
accomplishment and self-actualization needs are satisfied. Empirical research backs up the idea
that goals that are measurable are more likely to be achieved. Objectives that are difficult to
achieve are more motivating than goals that are relatively simple to achieve accomplish.
Feedback - Any information that people receive about the project is referred to as feedback. as
a result of their actions It's crucial to goal-setting since it allows to focus on what they want to
achieve. specifies which behaviors are appropriate or necessary in a given situation.

motivation and how to gain it from their workers. It has two kinds that is elaborated in below

Extrinsic motivation is a concept that applies whenever someone engages in a behaviour

motivated conduct as invariably non autonomous, soft company proposes that
extrinsically motivated behaviour is invariably autonomous. The degree to which it is
autonomous varies substantially. A good example is a kid who only finishes his
homework because he is afraid of parental repercussions He is performing the work in
order to not do it, hence he is extrinsically driven.to achieve the distinct result of avoiding
punishment
2. Intrinsic motivation - it is a kind of motivation that is being used to come from
inside of the person. This is all about the mindset of an individuals , and person . It is
being equal to self motivation and others Intrinsic motivation is described as engaging
in an activity for its own sake rather than for some external benefit. When a person is
intrinsically driven, he or she is inspired to behave for the sake of fun or challenge rather
than external ploddings, pressures, or rewards. The occurrence of Experiments on
intrinsic motivation were the first to recognize it Many organisms have been discovered
to partake in animal behaviour Even in the absence of a stimulus, people engage in
exploratory, playful, and curiosity-driven actions Reward or reinforcement). Despite the
fact that these spontaneous acts plainly benefit the organism, they do not appear to be
