Pre-subject reflection
In the current business scenario, it is required for the students, who will be the future of
the corporate to know about the managing, leading and stewardship. This is due to the fact that
for the contemporary business scenario, effective management and leadership are the key
elements to be there for the business people in order to have growth in their professional career.
Thus, being a management student, I also felt the importance of learning of extensive policies of
leadership, management and stewardship. Accordingly, I opted for this subject to gain the
knowledge about the above discussed elements. The key expectations that I have with this
subject are to gain an understanding about the effective ways of managing and leading in the
organizations. In addition, the communication skill that is needed for effectively deal with people
in the organization along with effectively communicating with the organizational stakeholders
will also be learned by me after studying this subject.
However, some issues that I have faced in studying the subject is the requirement of good
communication skill to interact with my fellow class mates along with the teachers. Moreover, as
this subject is of the requirement of group work among the students, thus, the requirement of
interpersonal skills is of more important. However, being belonging from a culturally different
area compared to my class mates as well as the teachers, I felt some challenges in effectively
communicating with them. In addition, from the very beginning, I am having lack of effective
communication skills. Thus, it is also proving difficult for me to effectively communicate with
all the group members along with leading them in case of any group work. It is creating negative
impression among the team members along with affecting the coordination among them.

However, with time, these challenges are gradually started to get resolved with increase
in the coordination and cooperation among my team members and with the teachers. The
requirement of group work and market study had also helped me in understanding the aspects
that are required to be considered in dealing with the customers for the contemporary business
organizations. It also helped in gaining the understanding about the diversity and difference in
the group work and the process to built consensus among the group members. It is being
expected by me that this subject will help me in gaining more understanding and knowledge
about the aspects of leadership, managing and stewardship.
Mid-subject reflection
The design of our subject module is being done every effectively and keeping in mind of
the varied mindset of the students. Moreover, as discussed earlier, the presence of the live
projects and activities helped me in gaining more practical knowledge compared to the
classroom knowledge. Having the practical activities also helped to enhance the interest of the
students and in reducing the monotony that students suffer from having the continuous classroom
teachings (Robles 2012). The most beneficial part for mine in attending these live activities is
gaining the effective communication skills that I was lacking. It helped me in effectively dealing
with the customers in the live project along with effectively communicating with my team
members about the recommended steps perceived by me in enhancing a certain task.
For instance, one of the interesting projects we got for our live assignments is about the
market extension strategies of Apple. We the team members are being assigned the roles of
employees, potential customers and the upper level management. I was given the role of one of
the employees in the organization. The key motive of the task is to identify various

recommended steps for the organization to be used as strategies to determine the potentiality of
the target market. Due to the fact that, I have gained enough communication skill to deal with the
organizational stakeholders, I came up with various recommended steps, which can be beneficial
for the organization. One of the key steps that I have discussed is the effective determination of
the employees along with garnering feedback from them. Being played the role of an employee, I
have been able to identify the importance of garnering the feedback from the employees. This is
due to the reason that, employees are ones who directly deal with the end customers and thus
they have much better knowledge about the requirement and expectation of the customers along
with the change in the taste and preference pattern of the customers. Thus, I recommended in our
group work that it is important for the upper level management to effectively determine the
feedback from the customers in order to identify the market potentiality.
In this study module, we have also discussed about the case study of King Gee. The case
study was about the issue of downsizing of their employees due to their showdown of their
facility. They have taken this decision to reduce their cost of operation. As discussed in the
earlier case, here also, we have divided in employees and upper level management. I was given
the role of human resource managers. Thus, my job was to reduce the impact of job loss of the
employees. With the help of the knowledge being gained by me in this study module, I had been
able to communicate effectively to the higher level management about the need of counseling the
employees.
Due to the enhancement of my communication skill and gaining of diversified
knowledge, I have been able to effectively communicate my vision or idea to my team. Thus,
this is one of the prime examples of benefits of having live projects in this study module.
However, there are various challenges that need to be overcome by me and my group members.

One of the key challenges that I have faced is the cultural diversity. Due to fact that, I am from
different cultural and social background from my team members, sometimes it becomes difficult
for me to effectively communicate with them. However, as discussed earlier, the design of the
study module is much effective in resolving the issues and helps in gaining newer knowledge.
Post-Subject reflection
One of the key changes that I have noticed after completing the study is the gaining of
more effective and deeper organizational knowledge. As I have already told in the first section
that I was lacking in effective interpersonal communication skills and business elements, the
completion of this study module helped me in gaining knowledge regarding the various aspects
of modern day business (Shockley-Zalabak 2014). However, I have been most benefited from
this study module reading the enhancement of my communication skill. Currently, I can have
effective communication with the potential customers for the marketing jobs, along with leading
my subordinates in meeting or achieving the organizational objectives. Thus, it can be concluded
that with the help of this study module, the most beneficial part that I have gained is the
enhancement of the communication skill. Currently, I have enough knowledge to determine and
analyze the effectiveness of any business organizations and can provide recommendations for
their business enhancements.

Moreover, the presence of group work, live projects and encouragements by the teachers
in generating innovative and distinctive ideas in the course duration helped me in having the skill
of logical arguments. Currently, I have enough skills to provide several logical reasons to any
identified organizational issues. Moreover, another key learning being I have gained from this
study module is the importance of ethical principles in business management and leadership
(Myers 2013). Before the starting of this module, I have no idea about the importance of ethical
principles in the business perspective rather according to me; business was only for profit
maximizing. However, with the completion of the module, I now have the understanding about
the importance of ethical principles. Moreover, it is now known to me that the motive of
managing and leading in the business scenario is not only about the maximizing of profits, rather
there can be various issues if the ethics are not being followed.
Individual action-guiding principles:
It can be concluded that throughout the period of the study module, there is a drastic
change that I can feel being happened. As earlier discussed, I gained numerous understanding
and knowledge about the contemporary business perspectives and various associated elements
that should be considered in enhancing the effectiveness of managing and leading in the
organizations. The design of the module is being designed in such a way that it covers all the
necessary aspects such as effective balance between the practical and theoretical learning. Thus,
the effective balance of these both aspects helped me in gaining the knowledge from the both
world. I currently have enough domain knowledge along with enough practical exposure to
operate in the contemporary business environment. At the staring of the module, I was in fear
that being belonging from different cultural and social background, I may not get able to adjust
among others. However, with time, all issues got resolved along with generation of various

learning opportunities. The module is being discussed and designed in such a way that it
provided the optimal environment for mutual understanding and cooperation among the team
members.
Thus, it can be said that, the knowledge that I have gained from this study module will
help me in having more and diverse opportunities in future. I will be able to tap the diverse
requirement of the future business environment. This is due to the reason that, dynamic and
skilled employees will be in need for the business organizations in future and with the help of
this study module. On the other hand, with the help of this module, I gained diverse knowledge
and skills that is required for the business organizations. Moreover, in the future opportunity, I
will utilize the full potentiality of my learning being gained from this study module.
