INTRODUCTION
Leadership plays an effective role in every business and it is the action of leading a group
of people or in an organization. Therefore, the main purpose of this report is to undertake a
critical review of literature in relation to key themes in the Strategic Business and Management.
In the same, the present study is also critically review the importance of leadership in this
modern era and also show the relationship of leadership with the strategic development of an
organization with different examples.
MAIN BODY
Theme 1: To identify the concept of Leadership
According to Yukl and Yukl, (2015) leadership is the ability of an individual that
influence and guide the followers or other members of an organization. Further, leadership also
involves making difficult decision, creating and articulation a clear vision, establishing to an
achievable goals and also provide followers with the knowledge and tools that are necessary to
attain the goals. On the other side, Finkelstein, Hambrick and Cannella, (2016) critic that
leadership is consists of research area and a practical skill that encompasses the capabilities of an
individual or an organization in order to lead or guide others for attaining defined goals of a
company. Thus, the author also states that the leaders and their leadership skills plays an
important role in the growth of any organization. Therefore, it is the continuous process where
leader of a firm are monitor their subordinate in order to make sure that their efforts are going in
the same direction and they are not deviate from their goals.
Moreover, Yukl (2018) bring another concept of leadership in which they state that
leadership in 21st century is based on influencing the behavior of others. It is that ability where a
leaders determinant the behavior of people in such a manner that they seek willingly and
enthusiastically in order to attain the common goals of a business. Therefore, it has been
analyzed that leadership skills takes an organization to some new heights where the leaders
create a vision and analyses the things in different manner because of possessing the positive
attitude. Further, through leadership, the leaders find a way that enables the whole organization
into a right path. On the other side, it has been critically evaluated by Stogdill (2014) that when
considering the past and modern trend in a leadership and it was also discusses in a heroic view
in 18th and 19th century which was based on the deficiency perspective of people. Author also
describes when a leadership is possessed by an individual, then they should also have the

workplace environment which further helps coworkers to connect with the seniors in order to
share the ideas which further helps a business to grow business fast. Moreover, the leadership
position also encourages the leaders to become fearless and be confident in the abilities, this
further inspire others in order to build the talent and explore variety of abilities which they have.
Hence, this shows that the great leadership abilities help leaders to build the brand image of a
business and for the growth and development of a business as well. For example – Izhok

able to inspire, motivate and empower their team for achieving maximum productivity.
