INTRODUCTION
Organizational change refers to a process in the organizations through which there is an
alteration in the way in which state of affairs are managed. When it is initiated in the companies
there is resistance shown by the different members of the staff. Thus there is a requirement on
the part of the managers to adopt techniques through which they can ease the change process. In
this case study, focus will be made on Cafe 13 which is a Canteen-style restaurant serving the
customers. In this report, focus will be made on taking a planned approach to change.
Additionally, analysis of leadership style and business strategy for designing of change
initiatives will be done as a part of this project.
MAIN BODY
Planned approach to change
For implementing the required change in Cafe 13, John Cummings will be required to
make use of Kurt Lewin's change management model. By making its use, the organization will
be able to easily go through the process of change and thus in this way will be able to transform
its processes to meet its needs and requirements in the future time period.
There are various stages in this model. The explanation of these stages is as follows-
Unfreezing- This is the first stage of the model. This is quite important as here the
existing status quo of the organization is broken and the change process is initiated. Here it is the
role of the managers to initiate the change. As Cafe 13 has seen a dip in its sales with the arrival
of competitors it has to modify its approach to sustain in the market. Thus the role of John

Forming Powerful Guiding Coalitions- Here, the organizations should be able to focus

Developing a vision and strategy- The focus of companies here must be on
