Introduction
The assignment helps in dealing with the leadership development plan that is to be
implemented so that proper employment and cultural context can be prevailed. The assignment
provides a reflection of the leadership style and position as well as analyse the strengths and
weakness that exists so that current comparison can be made with the future to understand the
development of leadership capacity.
1. Leadership style or position aspired
The leadership position that is to be implemented for the job related to the maintenance
of employability as well as cultural alignment in a team with different cultural people. For this, I
need to adopt the democratic style of leadership. The reason for the adoption of this particular
position is the fact that I can ensure proper and free flow of ideas between each employee so that
I can link the employment and cultural factors as one. I can emphasise on the collaboration that
is required so that proper flow of information within the organisation and cultural balance takes
place.
The knowledge, skills and attitudes that are required for the effectiveness of the position
includes understanding the team building nature that is to be implemented. The manner in which
team building can be made with the different cultural people can be done by the use of Belbin’s
team theory model in which different job responsibilities can be assigned to different people. As
stated by Conger (2015) it is necessary that a friendly and supportive attitude be adopted so that
the employees can be provided with a positive atmosphere to work. At the same time, skills
related to meeting the demand of the employees are required to be adopted for success.

The critical elements that lead to a successful leader include:
1. Transparency: Need to be open to suggestions from every employee
2. Learning from failure: Need to prevent the repetition of similar mistakes in the future
3. Trust: Need to gain the trust of the employees by providing faith in their abilities
4. Confidence: Need to remain confident about the decisions that are taken
5. Decisiveness: Need to be able to make quick and efficient decisions in tough situations
6. Humility: Need to abstain from any type of ego and maintain a down-to-earth attitude
7. Creativity: Need to be innovative while taking decisions
2. Analysing strengths and weaknesses
The current leadership strength that I possess is the fact that I am a good communicator
and based on my communication ability, I can manage to motivate the employees and ensure that
team bonding is maintained within the organisation. At the same time, the weakness that I
possess is the fact that I am unable to make quick decisions and thus this can be considered as
problematic as it may lead to the loss of opportunities for both the employees and me.
I am technically competent to lead and manage teams in an effective manner. However, I
lack the experience of implementing the learned and required skill for the effectiveness of the
employees mainly because I am not aware of the proper adoption of the skills. I have no practical
knowledge about the application of team management and development models with which I can
make effective decisions to maintain a proper team culture. Therefore, these skills are required
for me to develop so that I can gain experience in leading teams.
At the same time, I can say that I am an outgoing person. Working on my own requires
quick and effective decisions to be taken for the betterment of the team. This may lead to the

failure within the organisation and at the same time, lead to problems within the employability of
the different cultural people. However, with my preference as an outgoing person I can seek the
ideas and responses from the team members so that I can continue to undertake different
decisions and hope for the development of my experience as a leader.
I am ethical person and possess a degree of integrity. I consider giving fair trail to each of
the employees before being assigned to specific tasks. This can help me to understand the
effectiveness of the cultural impact so that I can ensure that every employee is provided with the
ability to remain conscious about the effectiveness of the culture and the manner in which any
unethical situations may lead to the impose of penalty among the employees. Thus, being ethical
can allow me to remain conscious about the development and implementation of my leadership
skills.
3. Comparing current attributes with the future
The leadership element that I have developed is the communication skill. I do not need to
develop my communication skills as it is one of my strengths and can allow me to provide
motivation to the employees. This can help me to maintain trust among the employees, as they
can feel motivated about approaching me with any type of problem. At the same time, my proper
communication skill can help me to reduce any form disagreement that may take place between
the employees and me. My communication skills involve both verbal as well as non-verbal
communication so that the employees can understand my gestures as well as thoughts.
I need to gain experience for envisioning the future, as I need to understand the manner in
which I can move smoothly towards my desired position or style. The manner in which I can do
that is based on the identification of the areas that I need to work on for maintaining stability.

One of the areas that I need to work on is my ability to make effective decisions. At the same
time, I need to gain experience in terms of implementing practical knowledge so that I can
manage the work force of the teams. The third area that I need to concentrate is the fact that
ethical considerations among the employees need to be maintained so that cultural difference
does not remain at the organisation.
4. Developing leadership capacity
I need to expose my abilities so that I can gain new and different experiences. This can
help me to enhance my skills and at the same time, ensure that I receive practical experience in
terms of leadership and skills. The new experiences can be effective for me to rectify any errors
that I have made and ensure that I provide my team and my employees with proper competency
in terms of cultural competence.
I need to attend training in terms of taking effective and quick decisions. This is required
so that I can be effective in decision-making and not rely always on the employees. For this, I
need a situational analysis training based on the on-the job requirement so that I can focus on the
tasks and gain experience by implementing it in a practical manner. This type of training can
help me to understand the scenario in which I can develop my experience and based on it I can
enhance my decision-making skills in the organisation.
The improper or lack of use of skills may lead to its fading away (Northouse 2018).
Therefore, in my opinion, I can implement and use my skills to good effect in terms of finding
out the situations in which my skills can be useful. I can use of communication skill to ensure
that the employees remain motivated at each time and thus hold meetings so that I can discuss

various ideas with each of the employees. My decision-making skills can help me to assess tough
situations in the organisation and provide me with the competence required for being confident.
I believe that gaining help from a coach or mentor can help me to gain experience in
terms of leadership. Skills such as communication, decision making, maintain ethnicity need to
be development and considered so that I can provide the necessary leadership development in the
organisation. The coach or mentor can help me by sharing his own experiences and can guide me
by providing me with situations in which I can use my talent.
The manner in which I can understand my leadership skill has improved if I can be able
to provide tasks in an ethical manner to each of the employees without making any mistakes. The
decisions that I undertake need to be effective and can provide each of the employees with an
ability to cope up with situations that demand challenges to be mitigated. Thus, I can say myself
as a competent and improved leader if I can continue to motivate the employees and make
effective decisions in the organisation. I also need to gain the support and trust of the employees
for being competent in the organisation.
Conclusion
From the analysis, it can be concluded that in order to develop my leadership skills I need
to improve on certain areas that can help me to enhance my leadership skills. I need to be
competent in terms of making decisions by using my communication ability to provide proper
support to the employees so that I can continue to develop my team management skills.
