The essay will focus on the concept of leadership style and how can an individual
assess their leadership style and enhance their foundation skills with natural abilities,
education, training and experiences (Raelin, 2016). Identification of the leadership style will
help an individual to understand what kind of leader the person is, what are their individual
strength and weakness and if the person is aware of their strength and weakness. Four
different assessment methods is used in this essay that will highlight the leadership style,
foundational skills and principles related to an individual assessment (Fidalgo et al., 2015).
The first assessment tool used for assessing the leadership style of an individual is
Leader As Coach assessment that provides a detail idea regarding an individual who is being
assessed to direct the colleagues, vendors, customers and friends. This is considered as the
self-assessment tool where 30 different parameters are present and the person has to
individually assess themselves through each parameter and rate themselves. The total score
will help the person to determine their leadership quality and also determine if they exhibit
the foundational skills and principles of a leader. The total score obtained after assessment
using this tool was 117, which was obtained after evaluating each parameter of the leadership
competency. The score exhibited that I comprises of the traits that is required to be a
successful leader and has an inspiring capability that will increase the team-performing
capability. I have both professional and personal qualities that will assist my team members
to enhance their experience and work accordingly and also guide them to adapt new skills
and utilize those skills to their complete potential (Teachmeteamwork.com, 2019).
The next assessment tool used for assessing an individual’s leadership quality is
Anthony J Mayo assessment. According to this assessment there are three types of leader’s
namely The Entrepreneur, The manager and The Charismatic. A leadership quiz is present
with 10 set of different question that will help the individual to assess what kind of leadership
and foundational skills they have in them. The option chosen for each question will allow the

person to determine in which category they fall such as I selected option ‘a’ more than four
times and hence I fall under the leadership category of being the Entrepreneur, which exhibit
that I bear the qualities to build opportunities to be successful in my work with appropriate
concept of future, business and revolutionizing industries. I can overcome any obstruction
and easily create or generate novel ideas that will help me to be a successful leader and guide
my team members (Fast Company, 2019).
The third assessment tool used for assessing an individual’s leadership quality is Dale
Kurow assessment that exhibit if an individual bear the qualities to be a skilled and successful
leader. In this assessment, a leadership quiz is present that comprises of 20 different set of
question and the person has to answer on the basis of yes or no. If an individual bear that trait
they have to mark yes and if they do not bear the trait they have to mark no. The assessment
was conducted and the total score obtained was 14 that exhibited that there are lot of room for
improvement as a leader and I can enhance my personal skills and manage my team members
in a more systematic way. I have to maintain a balance between my personal and professional
life and also encourage my team members to adapt a balanced life without losing my temper
and gaining appropriate knowledge of what exactly I have to delegate (Dale Kurow
Executive Coach NYC, 2019).
The last assessment tool used for assessing an individual’s leadership quality is Price
Group assessment that comprise of 25 different set of question and the individual have to
score themselves from the range of 1 to 5. This is also considered as the self-assessment tool
where each individual can assess themselves and total score is obtained that will allow them
to gain idea reading their leadership and foundational skills. The assessment was conducted
and the total score obtained was 85 that exhibited that I have a good leadership quality and
skills and I can manage my team members and guide them to enhance their skill and
determine their individual area of strength. Based on the score obtained, I have a realistic and

better leadership skills that will allow me to strength my work and enhance my leadership
skills (Pricegroupleadership.com, 2019).
The complete idea of being a successful leader was exhibited in the essay using four
different assessment tool. Each assessment tool was self-assessment tool that allowed me to
assess myself and determine if I have the qualities to be a successful leader and also if I bear
the foundational skills that will allow me to guide my team members.
