Leadership quality in Donald Trump, Richard Branson and Tiger Woods
Leadership is said to be the relationship where one person tend to influence the behaviour of
other person at the workplace. Effective leadership helps the organisation as well as country
to grow competitive as well as strong. In order to become the successful leader, it is essential
to adopt some leadership skills so that people get influence by the leadership quality. This is
the reason several leaders have achieved the success across the World. The three persons
named Donald Trump, Richard Branson and Tiger Woods has proved them in the name of
great leader. All these leaders have followed the different philosophy that helped them in
bringing the success across the world (Komives, 2016). It is true that leaders set the direction,
they must also use management skills to guide their people to the right destination in a proper
and effective way.
Richard Branson born in the year 1950 is the well known entrepreneur. Some of the words
that are associated with Richard are fun, creative, fast moving, anti-establishment, adventurer,
warm, opportunist, workaholic and competitive. Due to its disease, Richard has decided to
drop the school; and start its business. Due to the great risk taking ability, it is able to become
the millionaire at the age of 24 (Shapiro and Bottary, 2016).
Richard Branson proved to be one of the most influencing and most successful people. He
has started showing his leadership skills at the age of 16 only. In an interview, Richard has
stated that the leadership style of him is the rule breaker. It has the several kinds of
personality traits and features for being the effective leader (Ahmadian, Azarshahi and
Paulhus, 2017). It has always discussed that passion is the most significant element for then
task accomplishment. Courage is also considered as the significant leadership and personality
trait that means taking the initiatives and risks. By using the participative leadership
approach, it has treated its employees equal (Royster, 2018). Due to this, they also have the
freedom to speak of their opinions and ideas. It also has the love for learning as well as the
open-minded attitude. If the employees and company will get the culture to grow, it will
definitely grow in more better way. In its leadership approach, it has stated that if company
will take care of its employees, employees will also take care of the customers in a better
way. As a result, customers will also take care of the shareholders (Antonakis and Day,
2017).

The leadership style of Branson is transformation. It therefore give emphasis on the
reputational branding other than the service branding. Due to this, Virgin brand also known
for the several qualities such as value for money, creativity, reliability, quality, return on
investment, innovation, fun at work as well as adventure (Mauri, 2017).The leadership
approach of Branson also gives emphasis on the reputation branding as compare to the
service branding. The transformational leadership style of Branson always the company first.
He is the person who prides itself by working with its team. It also follows some of the aspect
in its leadership. The first rule of its leadership tactic is the business. Richard truly loves
whatever he do. It believes that the enthusiasm and passion of the person put the energy into
the action of other people too. Branson also believes that the leader cannot become successful
alone. Therefore, Richard pays huge attention to the individual. It believes that learning from
the other person helps us in great way. “Breaking the rules” is the most significant leadership
tactic of the Branson to take the risks. It has also given the freedom as well as encouragement
to the individual in its business. Due to this, it gives the space to the people for performing
their duties and doing their job (Wong, Ramalu and Chuah, 2019). It therefore believes that
this kind of skills also helps in encouraging the team members to work on their own
leadership skills. This leadership skill in Richard has helped him in professional career as
well. It has become the most influencing personality across the World.
As compare to Richard, Donald Trump also said to be the significant leader across the World.
Donald proved to be the combination of charismatic and autocratic leadership style. It has the
image of treating its employees similar as they deserve. Due to this, it is considered to be the
straightforward and tough for its employees (Marques, 2017). One of the significant
characteristic of the Donald Trump is also said that he correct it in most situations. Integrity
is also one of the significant characteristic of the Trump leadership characteristics. Autocratic
leadership style proved to be the most frequent one. It requires him to maintain the increased
control on its business and organisation (Conger, 2015).
IN the business field also, Donald is said to be the charismatic leader. It believes that
charisma is essential in the person because it appeal to the huge masses of the people. The
effective example of the autocratic leader is the Donald Trump who proved to be the
successful businessperson with the best leadership skill. It always put the emphasis on the
task oriented approach. It does not mean that Donald does not take care of the employees.

Besides this, it pays its staff high salary but also want the best and effective results from the
employees.
Several leadership qualities of Donald Trump have been founded. The first quality is the
confidence, Trump always believes in himself that makes him the great leader. Besides this,
Trump is also effectively known for understanding the complex or hard things by applying
his knowledge. It also believes that risk is the essential part of the business. It is also meant
for setting the clear priorities by protecting the rights of the citizen (Edwards, 2018). As per
the Trump, government should not diminish any of the right. Several leadership traits are
linked with the Donald Trump. Firstly, it has taken its business as the first priority by
thinking about every decision in best manner (Reicher and Haslam, 2017). It has therefore
made the best decisions in politics as well as in business. The position of president at the age
of 70 proves that he is too passionate about everything. It has also stated the example that our
mentors, parents, as well as teachers have told us to think big in our lifetime. Due to this, he
always set the big goals and use its ability to achieve those objectives. A true politician,
businessman as well as better author are some of the features in the leadership quality of
Trump.
Trump has also portrayed itself as the tough person who can do anything using its
connections, money, and power. The effective research also explained that followers also
attracted to those leaders who proves to the the role leader for people. The charisma of Trump
has the mission to bring the change. Its charisma is above the law that has no interest in the
formal rules, legal codes and the abstract principles. Trump also helps the people to bring
their feelings and opinions in front. Trump has also stated that its behaviour as aggressive,
irrational as well as lack of informed ideas. Due to this only, America was built upon the
collective effort of openness and diversity. It has helped the Donald Trump to become the
best businessman as well as political. Due to the extraordinary skills, he is able to become the
best leader. In several countries, people admire him the most.
In addition to the above two leaders, Tiger Woods is the inspiring golf player across the
world. Due to its commitment and hard work for the golf, people across the world saw it has
the inspiration. The never giving up attitude of the Tiger Woods has also helped it in leading
the team members positively. Tiger Woods have the extraordinary skills that helped in
ensuring the success. The person who has put the great impact on the golf recently has also
created the history as the professional. Due to its effectiveness and skills, companies such as

Bridgestone and TaylorMade have signed the Tiger to endorse deals. In addition to this, the
leadership skills such as charismatic personality has also found in the Tiger Woods
(Obschonka and Fisch, 2018).The smile of Tiger was the trademark for the youth in recent
time. Tiger Woods always pursuit the joyful and engaging in its nature. Engagement is the
great leadership tactic that is founded in the great player or leader. Similarly, it influence the
people to adopt its leadership skill in order to move successfully. Tiger Woods is the
American professional golfer. Due to these effective playing skills, it has also rank second in
both PGA tour and major championship. It has also hold the several records in the golf. In the
history of the golf, Tiger Woods is regarded as the biggest golfer. At the age of 20 only, he is
transferred as the professional. In spite of the numerous injuries and personal problem, it has
decided to never give up. This has proved the effective example in front of the world that no
matter what you are going through, it is better to work hard. Due to this thinking also, Tiger
Woods is the inspiration for people across the World. Several players in recent time also lead
the team members by leading the example of Tiger Woods (Leary, 2017).
In addition to this, Tiger Woods was also having few leadership characteristics. The biggest
quality was that it was showing the genuine commitment to the team members. it was one of
the responsible and reliable. In addition to this, active listening of the Tiger Woods has also
helped him in becoming the good leader at the same time (Grint, Jones, Holt and Storey,
2016).
Donald Trump as well as Richard Branson has some qualities in common. They both have
founded the expansive companies and proved to be billionaire. Besides this, both the persons
use the Twitter in sharing their thoughts to the followers. However, Richard has stated that
for becoming successful, it is required by the leader not to criticize the other people. it
believes in motivating people, praising others. On the other hand, Donald has stated that it is
not afraid to fight again with those people who have treated poorly. It has also stated that it is
better to good with those people who are good. Besides this, it treats those people badly who
are unfair or taking advantage of him. In this way, Trump has always given the emphasis on
bringing the best in itself as well as the World. Richard was proving to be the rule breaking
leader and Tiger Woods has said to be the never giving up person. Both the persons has
influence the world in several different way (Ahmadian, Azarshahi and Paulhus, 2017).
From the assessment of the two-leadership style, I have seen that transformational leadership
style of the Richard Branson is similar to me. I also come across the several strengths and

weaknesses in myself. I always motivated other people to work on their dream. Using this
leadership style, I always bring the innovation and change in me that further leads to the
further success. In every group project also, I perceive the importance of innovation. Several
times, it helps us in bringing the success to our project. In addition to this, I have seen the
weakness in my charismatic leadership. I need to work on my communication skills mainly.
This will definitely help in bringing the improvement in my personality as well. Sometimes, I
also feel that in order to bring the charisma in the personality, it is beneficial to involve with
the group members. The proper involvement with the team members will lead to improve my
knowledge as well as skill. Communication is the key to success of my business. Therefore,
several changes are still required in me to improve my leadership skills. In addition to this,
the behaviour of Tiger Woods was never giving. Similarly, I also required developing this
attitude in myself in order to improve the leadership skills. It will help me in becoming the
better person. In order to improve some of the leadership skills, I will bring or adopt of the
changes in myself (Mishra, 2016).
Firstly, for improving my communication skills, I will start participating in several group
activities. It will help me in meeting to various new people. The engagement and
communication with the several new people will also provide me the confidence that I need
to require for becoming the great leader. Similarly, participation in seminars will also prove
to be successful. I will also improve my talking skill that is the essential part in every great
leader. I will also improve my risk taking ability. It will help me in bringing various changes
in myself. Firstly, it will make me innovative and creative my in order to achieve something
great. I also believe that participative leadership model also plays the significant role in the
smooth functioning of the organization. By using such approach, I always try to give more
emphasis on the talent, creativity, and skills of subordinate. It also provides opportunity to me
in recognizing and determining the potential of people for becoming future leader in the
organization. The reason behind considering me a participative leader is that I make use of
the authority whenever it is needed.
In the limelight of above discussion, it can be concluded that these three leaders have proved
their influencing skills and knowledge across the World. These leaders have developed their
personality in such a way that has proved to be the inspiration for every person across the
world. Donald Trump main quality was the charisma in its personality as well as talking. In
addition to this, it is seen that Richard was the risk taker leader. This quality in him made

successful across the World. At last, Tiger Woods was the person who has the never giving
up capability. Both these three quality helps the person to improve his or her vision in the
mind of other person too. Leadership in every leader is essential whether it is political leader
or business leader. It is essential adopt some of the innovative leadership styles in order to
succeed in the competitive business world. It will assist the leaders in getting success.
