INTRODUCTION
Contemporary management refers to the planning,organizing ,leading and controlling the
operations of an organization to achieve specific goals (Hafberg, Borinstein and Alexopoulos,
2019). In 21st Century, management consists of various challenges such as Technology,
globalization, competition, diversity, ethics etc. These challenges are distracting managers and
leaders from achieving their goals and improving their work in an organization. The managers
are constantly try to tackle this challenges that leads to lowering the productivity of a company.
The organizations and business companies are putting all their efforts to face these challenges for
improving productivity and performance of the organizations. This project report is based on the
Shackleton leadership style that plays a significant role to deal with the success of an
organisation. It will deal directly to employees in order to boost their efficiency towards the
growth of an organization. Further, this report will discuss the contemporary issues and
leadership style that helps to enhance the performance of an organization.
TASK
How would you characterise Shackleton’s leadership style? State the important lessons learnt
from them.
Shackleton was a cautious leader and a man. He was not afraid to throw away the
rulebook. The Shackleton's leadership style is widely used leadership style that helps the leaders
to encouraging their team members and motivate them to achieve the targeted goal in limited
time period. This leadership style creates strong bond between employees and increase their
confidence to work harder. With the help of Shackleton's leadership style the knowledge, skills
and efforts of the employees has been recognized in most effective way(Gutmann, 2018).
According to this style a leader in one who support and encourage their team to work smoothly
for achieving the aim. This will boost the morale of the members and increased their confidence
level to deal with the challenging business environment in the company. The Shackleton believes
in team working because unity is power to achieve the success and the goal. It helps to deal with
threats & crisis they may arise in the world of business.
