TOPIC- Leadership and its approaches
Leadership is the ability to influence and guide the team members to
achieve goals of an organisation. It is important for a leader to have
clear vision for finding and establishing ways to attain the objectives.
A leader can try different ways of motivating employees to get the
desired results but there are some main approaches which are applied.
The same have been discussed below:
Trait Approach- This emphasizes on the fact that leaders are born, not
made. There are certain inherited qualities and personality traits that
make person leader. According to this approach, every leader should
have characteristics that are connected with physical, intelligence,
social background, ability, personality, social and task related. It is
useful in finding a leader on the basis of the above-mentioned criteria
but there may be situations in which more factors may be included in
this. This approach can help an organisation to encourage existing
employees to develop leadership skills by taking into consideration
such skills possessed by current leaders. In addition to this, it is also
beneficial in keeping the employees motivated and competitive with
other personnel.
Group Approach
This states that leaders can be developed by making them learn the
about leadership qualities. It considers accountabilities, responsibilities
and functions of a leader. In this approach leaders take into each and
every person in the team rather than focusing on one single individual.
It is known as one of the best approach to leadership. This approach
can be used by gaining knowledge about tactics which are used by the
leaders. Also, it emphasizes on the involvement of every individual
working in the organisation leading to greater equality and fairness in
the opportunities.
Behavioural Style Approach- This approach is based on the
