REFLECTION
1
Reflection: Sustainable Development
This paper is focused on evaluating my personal learning as well as personal
development from the unit from my future career growth perspective. In doing so, I will
reflect on how has the learning experiences and journey of completing the course been
beneficial for me. Thus, the skills and strategies applied by me while participating in the
course will be highlighted and integrated as well.
I learned about leadership in the context of business so that I can become a good
leader in future workplaces. To me, based on (Boud, Keogh, & Walker, 2013), leadership
refers to an act of leading a group of people or sometimes the ability to do that. The learning
acquired from the whole module is highly beneficial for a future career as I learned about
different styles of business leadership include authoritative leadership, participative
leadership, servant leadership, transformational leadership and directive leadership. Such
leadership skills will allow me to formulate personal leadership strategies to guide my
subordinates in future workplaces (CSR Hub, 2018).
In addition, I would like to mention learning related to key drivers for sustainability in
business with the help of reputation, stakeholder interests and many more (Ash & Clayton,
2014). In this context, sustainable development principles were learned by me and thereby
they will allow me to become a sustainable development practitioner. Also, I learned to
distinguish amid risk and opportunity so that my career can never be affected by upcoming
risks. While learning into this unit, I got to know about sustainable development goals
(SDGs) by the United Nations which should be the ultimate goals of all of us (Moon, 2013).
The different concepts related to business tactics and growth will allow me to become an
entrepreneur in the near future.
According to me, there is a huge difference between ethical leadership and leadership.
I learned that ethical leaders typically have features like accountability, reasoning, moral
values, extended trust, and many more. Apart from this, the unit made me learn about
leadership for successful businesses with the help of great leaders like Mary Barra, Donald
Trump and many others. In addition, based on (Carroll, Brown, & Buchholtz, 2018), the
seventeen goals of sustainable developments are the pillars of global sustainability.
Moreover, this module learning has evolved emotional intelligence in my personality so that I
can use the power of being emotionally intelligent in favour of my future career development.

As per the evolved opinion, I can now say that there are mind-blowing attributes and
qualities in the leaders like Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos, hence we all should learn from them
(Carroll, Brown, & Buchholtz, 2018).
In whole, based on learning acquired from this module, I am able to evolve future
action plans in order to develop and nurture my skill-set. In this way, this paper has
successfully allowed me to reflect on what insights I have gained and implemented for the
future career endeavours.
