Discussion Point
“Success is rarely, if ever, dependent on one person, no matter how good the leader might
be.” No I am not agree with this statement because team work is collective approach in which
leader play important role within success of each and every member. This statement will be
supported through Tuckman's stage of group development which was introduced by Bruce
Tuckman in 1965 who said that phases of forming, storming, norming and performing are
important for growth of team, face up challenges, plan work, tackle problem and so on. Forming – In the stage leader provide guidance and direction to team as well as help in
the success of overall group. Storming - Decisions not come easily in the team. Team members vie for position as they
attempt to establish themselves in relation to other team members and the leader, who
might receive situation from group members. Norming – Team move in this stage when employees start resolving their differences,
appreciate strength of each other as well as respect authority as leader. Although, team
member develop strong commitment in relation to team goal and its progress.
Performing – Team reach to performing stage when they do work in better manner
without frictions for accomplishing group goals and objectives.
Thus, leader play important role in the success of each and every individual working
within team.
