capabilities which make person successful in their life. Both articles give us efficient
understanding which can be utilized further in taking initiatives regarding our career. In this

in providing knowledge regarding the leadership and teamwork. They define us how one should
play a leadership role in turning the situation of the organization and also gives us significant
knowledge about different competencies which required an executive during decision making
(Galegher, 2014). Both articles prove very beneficial and helpful in making day to day decision.

The given article is about situations of two companies which are Renault and Nissan. It defines
the steps of the Carlos Ghosn which are taken to improve the situation of the Nissan. Both
companies merged together to fulfil the needs of each other. Nissan's strength in America fills
the gap for Renault; on the other hand, Renault's cash reduced Nissan mountain debt. Both

and compensation of employees. All these steps help him in getting success as per his desire. At

Personal Learning
The first thing which I learnt here is the concept of management which is not limited to only the
management of people. But, management is the concept of imposing employees does such
functions which they cannot do (West, 2012). This gives me knowledge about how we can take
work from the employees. Apart of this, after learning the given article, I learnt the importance
of brand power in earning profit. If an organization doesn’t have the brand power, it is not able to
cope with existing challenges and required to shut down soon. According to my viewpoint, the
first priority of Carlos Ghosn should be to establish its brand image in the existing countries and
the other countries. This can be done through advertisement and large public access.
Furthermore, I also learnt more how one can successfully bring changes in the functioning of an
organization. Change is an important process which is continuously working as per changes in
the environment. I learnt about the different strategic initiatives which help us in bringing
significant changes in the organization without facing any resistance from employees (Cooke,
2016). Nissan engaged in producing a single car from 10 years, due to which its demand in the
market declined continuously. According to me, the organization should focus more on research
and development with which it can come with innovative ideas which can further implement in
the production of innovative cars. I also learn that how important innovation is because on the
basis of innovation one organization can lead the whole market and can also get the monopoly
power which further helps in earning a large profit (Aaker, 2012). It gives me understanding
about how we can tackle the pressure situation where we have only two ways do and die. Due to
this learning, I will able to face the very risky situation in my near future. Furthermore, I learnt

that patience and hard work is the key to success. The presence of both features makes a person
capable of dealing with every risky situation. On the other hand, I also learn the value and
significance of leadership skills in leading our day to day function or an organization (Northouse,
2015). The presence of leadership skill enables me further in taking my decision with large
confidence and also leads an organization in a successful manner.
What Makes an Effective executive
Summary
The given article explains the features and competencies which an executive should have to lead
the entire organization. As per the given article, Peter F. Drucker mainly followed the eight
practices in his working career of 65 years. These practices are: What needs to be done? What is
right for the organization? Development of action plans, take responsibilities of making
decisions and communication, focused on opportunities rather than problems, conduct productive
meetings, and follow the concept of "we" rather than "I". All these practices help him in leading
his life as per his desires. Apart of this, he also said that effective executives do not only a leader
but they are the executives who are responsible for every act in the organization.
Personal Learning
The important thing which I learn from reading this article is that what competencies make a
leader an efficient executive. I learnt the importance of the executive role in organizations, and I
can feel that how much pressure they are feeling in their life. After reading the article, I get lots
of knowledge regarding the functions of an executive and their responsibilities (Goleman, 2013).
According to me, it is necessary to identify the task which needs to be performed, but at the same

level, it is also necessary to understand the roles and specifications of the other persons because
they play a core role in getting things done. Furthermore, I also learnt that an executive should
try to conduct those activities which are in favor of organization. But I can suggest that on the
same level they need not only to follow the situation of favor always but sometimes they need to
take risks for earning lots of profit and surviving in the existing market (Johnston, 2016). I can
say that going with the predetermined path not beneficial always, but sometimes we need to
choose the opposite path for getting success and it is the task of an executive to change
impossible in possible. On the other hand, I also learnt the importance of communication in the
business. It is the core activity which is necessary to follow for every executive. If I am in the
position of an executive, I should choose the direct communication style because it avoids the
misleading situations and also minimizes the risk of occurring mistakes. On the other hand, I also
learnt the value of opportunities and how it should exploit to get success in existing business.
According to me, problems should also focus on the management because it will be helpful in
measuring the requirement of significant changes. If we are continuously running back towards
exploiting opportunities, I will not get success because recognition of the problem also has same
importance as the opportunity have (Thomas, 2014). On the other hand, I also learnt the
significance of cooperation and collaboration in an organization. These are the core measures
which makes an organization successful in its existing market. Furthermore, I can say that taking
a decision can be an easy task but implementing it is very critical and requires huge attention and
efforts. Following all these practices can make me successful in achieving the overall motives of
my life.
Personal Learning from Interview

Leadership and Teamwork 5
After watching the interview, I learnt lots of the strategic measures suggested by the Carlos
Ghosn during giving interview. I learnt different aspects of the definition of management in real
life (Mor, 2013). I also learnt the ways which can make me successful in my life.
Thus, it can be said that the interview and the article of what makes an effective executive gives
me understanding about the different phases of management and how one can tackle with such
phases to get success.
Conclusion
After studying both the articles, it can be concluded that they give me necessary knowledge
about the different perspectives of the management. It can be said that leadership and the
teamwork are such concepts on which the success of the organizations depend largely. The
presence of competitive skills and knowledge make executives successful in achieving the
predetermined goals and objectives of their life. Furthermore, it can also say that the article
written by the Carlos Ghosn gives us significant understanding about the value of patience and
the innovation. If the organizations want to survive for a long time, innovation is the key concept
which they need to focus (Weber, 2013). On the other hand, the second article written by P.F.
Drucker gives us knowledge of the different management practices which needs to follow by
executives for getting success. Thus, it can be said that both articles help us efficiently in
understanding the different ways of management.
