We are going to represent ‘TASK 4’ scenario applying
different theories and practice for approaching the
team and motivate the employees with a small
amount of money and resources for pay raise,
bonuses, benefits or promotion. Our group choose
the magazine ‘OK’ as an organization for this
scenario. At the end we will give our conclusion.

OK! Magazine is a British weekly magazine specialized in royal and
celebrity news. The cost of this magazine is relative cheap, only £1
in the market, and their first published issue was in April 1993.

OK! Magazine management as consequence of their competitive
magazine price, £1, they have to downsized the cost of their
resources and downsized their employees successfully. OK!
Magazine wants to keep their competitive price at all cost.
As consequence, their workload increased 30%, but the moral and
demotivation of the lower level staffs could affect their production
in the future. At same time OK! Magazine editors have lost their
bonusses and benefits. Most od their editors are demotivated and
most of their editors are searching for other jobs as result.
HR managers need to motivated the employees to stay work with
them and keep their performance.

Theory ‘X’ = LOWER LEVEL STAFF
The lower level employees, those who printing the magazine, most probably
are demotivated because they’ll have to work double and afraid of losing
their job or for other future downsized reduction. ‘OK’ management will
have to make sure that production level continue increasing and same time
staff feel comfortable and accept the management decisions.
Theory ‘Y’ = UPPER LEVEL STAFF
The upper level staff will feel that they need to change the company,
because the lost their benefits and bonuses due the downsized reduction
and probably the might think that they’ll have to work more hours and
under pressure with limit tools.

Offer young staff free studies in
this sector or management.
Allow magazine editors to work
from home or have extra days off,
so the can spend time with their
families.
Give magazine editor extra time
for those especial editions a week,
could be one day or few hours
extra, to finish the magazine
edition with high standard
finishing.
Offer magazine editor more tools
for edition and research. Cost will
be minimize.
Offer free holidays weekend
somewhere around UK, once in a
month for good performance and
good magazine edition.
